• I am happy TC won something ❤️❤️❤️!! Proud of my goty.

  • Still hilarious that he's salty about them not wanting to show up lmao. "See you guys won!" my man them not thinking they were gonna win an award was why they considered not showing up to be a safe option, not why they wanted to not do it in the first place lmao

  • Art direction my ass

Insane that a game that is fully hand drawn lost art direction to a game that is 95% unreal engine 5 assets

Yeah, but now ghost of yotei peeps are gonna be pissed at is for stealing their category. We are mad at expedition, yotei should be mad at us, and expedition should feel sorry for other people who didn’t win anything

Big yotei fan. Silksong is better.

I’m pissed it lost best music

Best music I can actually agree with E33. Art direction…

    I completely disagree about music.

Expedition 33s music is good, but it’s nothing new. Silksong has narrative in its music. Laces theme comprised only of string instruments to mirror the much later reveal that she’s entirely composed of silk is amazing musical storytelling. Widows theme that has the dominant viola theme until the reprise where the violin overtakes and surmounts it, representing hornet overtaking and binding widow is also a wonderful hidden narrative.

Expedition 33 has great music, but it’s not used nearly as well as music is in silksong imo.

And E33’s music is child-verso’s piano being played on a somber tone to reflect how the real verso never wanted to be a painter, but a musician, and will now never get the chance to be what he wanted to be save for the false memory of him that lives trapped in the fictive world created by his mother’s grief.

And that’s just one example. E33’s music is all about telling a story, like how the lyrics to all the songs are being sung by Aline expressing her pain over losing him, and the final boss theme is an argument between herself and her husband.

Idk to me Silksong’s just fit the atmosphere better. Again, e33 wasn’t bad, but to me Silksong’s was just. Better.

Well, that’s a matter of opinion and taste, but on the subject of the music being used to tell the story, E33 does that at least as much. I’m in practically the whole story of the game can be communicated through the music, from the lyrics to the use of certain instruments.

Nah. Yotei was a lot more innovated while 33 (still being good) is just orchestra music I’ve heard all before

I was talking about Silksong, but Yoteis music is gas

Honestly I'm not surprised it didn't win anything. I'm sure it's a good game but I haven't heard anyone saying it's particularly innovative compared to the first one

E33 isn’t. They still acting like they’re the best

Some of the assets are unreal assets, but hardly 95%. And art direction is about how they’re used to create the world, which itself is entirely unique.

CO33 is an industry plant game pretending to be indie, of course it'd sweep, what did anyone expect.

I'm curious what do you mean by it's industry plant ?

It's not indie. The call themselves indie, but it's a bunch of veterans from Ubisoft that got a ton of publishing dosh thanks to making names for themselves while working at Ubisoft making a new game. Literally zero indie bones in anyone working on that game. But industry pretends like it's indie just so that it can sweep away any attention from real indie titles at events like those.

I see your point. A nuance, thought : can't it be argued that the guy who wrote the ost, being his first ost and having written it pretty much over the years, does check the indie mark ?

Congrats, ost is indie quality, doesn't make the rest of the game indie. Maybe if it was a music festival or if there was a separate category for Best Indie Soundtrack...

Yup, gotcha. I mean don't get me wrong I feel like there's more to e33 sweeping all prices than just being a game reckognized by the gamers so I pretty much agree with you. I just like playing devil's advocate.

2 or 3 of them are from Ubisoft. The rest are fresh out of school upstarts or talent from outside the industry like the art director, music director, and writer.

E33 winning over Silksong AND Hades II was bullshit. Two games with incredibly unique artistic style lost to a game that looks like every other AA fantasy game.

  • Spoiler? why spoiler?

its a spoiler that silksong has an adventure /j

  • Ah yes, when I sit down and think about Silksong I think "action adventure"

Why wouldn’t you? It a great adventure that has a lot of action?

Broad genre that's outlived it's use in my mind. Kind of like how KCD2 and X33 are both "RPGs" but are totally different types of games.

How is it not action adventure?

Surely it's not a puzzle or tactics game lmao

  • the toxicity all around from every fan of these games is kinda nuts right now. i played most of the noms this year and feel like E33 is well-deserving of the awards while also being a bit sad it came out in a year that was super competitive for 2nd place. really tired of going all around these subreddits with people gloating and being weird. can't we just love games?
