(Edit - since writing this post I realised I was missing my last mask shard in Brightvein and my last spool fragment, which I'd left until now because they both happened to be in the area - I got them both within 5 minutes and couldn't be bothered to change the post to mention that lol everything else still applies!)
I actually feel really sad - basically for the last 2 months, I've been playing Hollow Knight and then silksong straight (by straight I mean every time I wanted to play a game, they took me around 60 hours each to complete), and this is the very last action i had to do in Silksong, getting my final blue tool. Thats now full completion and achievements on both games, minus anything to do with Steel Soul, speedrunning or playing again like the two different Nailsmith endings. I dont think Ill play again immediately for Steel Soul or speedrunning since Im a story guy, so I'd probably rather play a new game, although I might try Steel Soul whenever I decide to replay these two!
I moved Hornet to the bench in the Slab and sat down and I just felt really sad - like this is where Hornet will stay forever now for me, an eternal rest :( I might move her to her bed in Bellhome to feel better so she can feel more comfortable although I'm sad theres no way to have Bellhart restored to its Act 2 version even after defeating Lost Lace, so it still seems destroyed :(
So, as sad and bittersweet as it feels, onto the next game! I have to finish the Blood and Wine expansion in TW3 which I paused to start HK when SS came out, but after that I've got my eye on Clair Obscur, although I dont think itll be able to run on my shitty laptop with its non existent graphics card :( in which case I might try Outer Wilds, which I've also heard good things about. Any other suggestions would be welcome - my laptop is pretty shit (HP Pavilion laptop 14, intel core i5, 8gb ram, intel irisxe graphics if anyone knows more than me about device requirements for specs and can offer any insight) - so far the games I've been unable to run and had to delete are TLOU, Ghost of Tsushima and Clair Obscur, although that third one I dont tihnk I tried fully - all of them had error messages that I was able to end up tracing to graphics I believe. HK and SS ran flawlessly, TW3 was laggier than it should be but normally warmed up to near fluency after 5 minutes of playing, BG3 works but is too slow and laggy to be enjoyable, and Outer Wilds is also kinda laggy from first playthrough although should still serve a decent game experience. Any other reqs would be great - the only completed games I really have are TW3 and both HKs, all of which I absolutely adored and would love to find a similar game of that calibre!
(Side note I saw this post - I might try Hades as well if I can run it, but what do you guys think about the Donkey Kong game, just cos I saw it called a platformer is it any good?)
There will be dlc’s
Yeah I hope so and I look forward to them! But the general vibe of having completed the story is still there, for example, while I enjoyed NKG it didnt feel quite the same as I'd completed the whole story, it did feel very DLC as opposed to HoS and BaW in TW3, for example, which had a lot more going on. That's not a criticism at all, its exactly what a DLC should do, add some extra content, but as much as I can't wait for them I'll still be sad at the story being over :(
Same. I recommend watching vods or streams whenever you have an itch. I'm watching Bluesr's initial silksong playthrough and its so fun ( and a bit frustrating ) to watch! It reminds me of the feeling I had when I played initially and it gets me so excited at times. I suggest watching people who are like good at the games tho, as otherwise it may get too frustrating.
You can also watch speedruns. Any percent is ok if a bit short. True ending is better since they do more, but my favoritte are Monstahlers 100 percent speedruns since it goes through a lot more of the game.
Why do you find watching Blue frustrating? He’s the absolute goat
“You could always do steel soul” -Psychopath
Lol yeah I like to think I'd enjoy it when I replay this game but the one thing that makes me think I'm very unlikely to follow through with it is boss fights - having to defeat them first time every time would be impossible for me, especially early game trying to rush them forgetting the upgrades I'm missing, and save scumming would feel a bit pointless to me - I'd just play without Steel Soul at that point. We'll see!
I let her rest in Fleatopia so she won't be alone 🥺
You can also forever stare ate Seth game score
You can still try getting radiant on all the bosses. Btw I put hornet in fleatopia whilst waiting for dlc or godhome
For Clair Obscur, there is a mod called COExp33 by RubemJR on nexus mods, which you could try for your hardware. It seems that it works with Intel GPU.
Thanks, I'll try it! How does it work - I assume you need to have the game downloaded first and there are just easy to follow instructions on the mod? I'm not well versed in modding games lol
Trying it now, I downloaded the potato version of the mod and ran the game again and nothing changed, it crashed at the first game start loading screen again after setting difficulty saying 'the ue sandfall game has crashed and will close, fatal error' - i cant tell if the mod changed anything or not? do I have to do something specific to run the mod, or are there any other changes i can make?
I am sorry, I am not the creator of the mod. I used it for myself and the game was slightly better for me in terms of fps and stuff.
I would read and follow the mod creator's instructions. Also, check out the "posts" tab in the mod web page. Usually, if the problem you encounter is also encountered by other people, some other people will offer advice.
OK thanks!
At least put her in her cozy bellhome ! 😩
Yeah I mentioned in my post in the end I left her asleep in her bed!
cute. u can do multiple playthrus where u challenge urself to use specific crests, speedrun etc. or mod some stuff
Move Hornet to the Fleatopia so you can forever never beat Seth score
Lmaoooo, My first successful run on Dodge that beat Vogs score actually beat Seth as well! Bounce was a lot harder but Juggle, goddamn that one was a pain, 4 fleas plus random huge fleas and stuff was so tough
Shouldve sat her down in the bellhome bed
Yes I mentioned in the post I did do that in the end
speedrunning gave me lots of extra (new, goal-oriented) play time
If you liked HK, I highly recommend you try Rain World, OP. I wouldn't say it's exactly like HK, but it does have a similar vibe of exploration and travel (and even more so).
I will say right away that at times it can seem incredibly difficult and unfair, but that only makes the feeling of victory all the better.
I put off Rain Works for so long because of the difficulty but discovered there are actually ways to rebalance it inside the game so am going to give it a go now. As soon as I get over my crippling Europa Universalis V addiction…
