It came to me in a dream.

Credit to Ryukisensei3 for the Pharloom map.

  • And where is Gensokyo on this map, again?

Well it's the eastern land, so i'd say to the right of the city of steel

  • I think it's pretty accurate, if not for the fact that Hallownest is underground.
As it was confirmed by devs.
And, I assume, that the only time we're actually on the surface in Silksong is when we finish Path of Inconvinience during Act 3.

Erm, actually, it's Path of Minor Inconvenience

That would imply there is a Major version somewhere.

    Cogwork core pogo only

Mount fey second room on the climb

Major one is when you need to pause the game and go grab a cup of tea.

Major is doing the minor version with Beast/Architect crests

    What’s path of inconvenience?

That long haul upwards beyond the Cradle. You'll need Silk Soar to get up there, and it'll be the final place to meet Mr. Mushroom.

    Noted. Adjusting my headcanon :)

IMO it's a giant hollowed out mountain like an ant hill. Both above and below ground.

    with or without Dirtmouth/Cliffs/Peak?

Dirtmouth is underground. There is no... Outside.
Despite it looking like there is.

I mean, several characters mention the wastelands as the surface, so even Silksong's surface might not be it

Maybe the whole world is just massive caves forever to all sides, some big enough to have their own weather

Strong wind in a sandy area, a leaking ceiling, flakes from a decaying body...
    Mycelium...

Yeah i kinda messed that up in the map, should've made the caverns left of pharloom extend over and past hallownest instead of sloping down and exposing it to the surface. :P

  • What's the City of Steel as far as lore is concerned?

All we know is that it's one of the places where the weavers fled to, and one of them, the last of their line, lived there before being kidnapped and captured by the citadel.

It's where Steel Soul Jinn, Confessor Jiji, Steel Seer Zi, and a few others (all of the Steel Soul unique npcs) are from. All that's known so far is that it's beyond Hallownest and Pharloom, across the wasteland, that at least one Weaver fled from Pharloom to the City of Steel (the last of whom was "staked to service" beneath CoS, and then captured by a band of choristers and envoys from Pharloom), and that a mysterious substance called the Growstone (which continually produces shards in silksong's steel soul mode) is from there.

It’s also a place where “masters” live, who give absolute commands to steel seers who are like their servants to observe other lands. Said steel seers also have servants

and those servants have the power to summon the void aswell

  • Right, so where on this map is Rome, the Eternal City?

Hallownest is Rome, i thought this was common knowledge.

Ceasar was a wyrm, didn't you know?

...that makes sense, actually. Thank you, citizen

  • Very neat. I just think city of steel is gonna be closer to Pharloom bay

  • Okay so

1.) Is Pharloom THAT big compared to Hallownest ?

2.) Hallownest is underground (even Dirtmouth)

3.) Tf is the city of steel ?

If we forget about those 3 points, it's perfect, W !

    1) I based the relative sizes off of scaling a screenshot of the knight/hornet in hallownest/pharloom to their respective map sizes, then scaled the maps based on the size of hornet compared to the night. The stylized versions of each map was then scaled to the in-game maps and place according to the "sea level" of the void in each kingdom.

    2) And i think i might go and extend the caverns to the left of pharloom so that they cover hallownest, but allow for a large open space above dirtmouth for Mr. Mushroom to fly around in.

    3) This is based on the assumption that most if not all steelsoul exclusive characters originate from or are in some way related to a location mentioned in silksong, i can't remember the exact words, but it mentions a weaver decendent being "captured in the city of steel".

Of course, all this is just my headcanon :)

Wow okay, didn't played Steel Soul in Skong (assuming it's only mentionned in the 2nd opus), so I didn't knew that !

And yeah the void thing makes sense to me

  • need a flair for maps because i love seeing this so much

  • This is rad- maybe my favorite rendition of the known world so far. It's interesting that you put the Land of Storms where Nameless Town is in SilkSong. Do you have a higher-res version?

I put the land of storms on the peak of Pharloom for 2 reasons, mainly that thunderstorms are common in volcanic plumes and i assume Pharloom to be inside a volcanic mountain. And there's that one room where the godseeker is hidding which looks a lot like the cave right before the nameless town.

  • i just realised it's called hallownest because hallow means holy and it's a nest for bugs made by a pale being, and pale beings are effectively gods

  • Do you have a higher res version of this image?

  • I love this!!

I also third the vote for a higher resolution version please!

  • Why is Hollow Nest always left of Pharloom in those comparison maps?

Because of the beginning cutscene of Silksong. Hornet was captured probably in Hallownest and came from the left side of Pharloom, hence why Hallownest is on the left

I assume it's due to the path into Pharloom across the broken bridge above where the game starts goes left to right, hornet must thus have been brought into Pharloom from the left (assuming the choristers didn't wander in circles). The silksong trailer also shows the journey going left to right.

The location in the left corner of Pharloom is similar to the location in the left corner or Hallownest, so I think Hallownest is to the left of Pharloom, but Hallownest has to be mirrored

The reason why the left of Hallownest looks like the left of Pharloom is because the whole world is covered in similar looking wastelands and deserts, with a few kingdoms and oasis scattered about.

It's certainly possible that Hallownest is actually mirrored next to Pharloom, but i tend to assume the two games face in the same direction unless proven otherwise. :]

weavers used to live in deep nest right? it shouldve been mirrored, im not sure

  • i just think pharloom is more underground than Hallownest

It might have more solid rock above it than Hallownest, especially since there's a massive cavern above dirtmouth. But assuming the void to be roughly the same depth in both kingdoms, then Hallownest is deeper underground than Pharloom, having to travel a much shorter distance to reach the abyss compared to the climb section in silksong. :]

  • Silksong opening shows Hornet being carried through multiple different biomes, so I doubt the path between kingdoms is this straightforward.

    Yeah, fair :P

The distances horizontally would realistically be 10 times whats shown here.

Yes that goes without saying that distance would be larger.

But it would also be more complex with multiple tunnels and open spaces.

  • Deep Wormways sounds like Deepnest 2.0. I would LOVE to explore that

  • and that volcano mountain is like a foot tall haha
