I think it is still kind of working, since the slope is more smooth, you do not need to use ladder or heavy besiegeing weapon to reach the top of wall, even though the high ground is occupied by defender.
But man, how do you build a besieging mound and lose it to the defender, you need to outnumber defender to build that thing, did the out skirt reinforcement come to help or the offender lacking supplies to maintain the besieging?
