What would non-human beings be doing or looking for at Spanish military bases during the 1970s? In two highly atypical events, military personnel reported direct encounters with tall humanoid entities inside restricted and highly sensitive areas. In both episodes, shots were fired at these figures, yet no apparent physical effect was observed.
The EVA-4 Base incident – March 25, 1971
On the night of March 25, 1971, Jesús Jofre, then a corporal stationed at the EVA-4 Military Base, was carrying out routine surveillance when he spotted an unusual light in the sky. The luminous object slowly approached the base until it stopped directly above the radar antennas, immediately raising alarm among the soldiers on duty.
Jesús alerted his companions, who came out to observe the phenomenon. All of them could clearly see the same object suspended in the air, silent, until it suddenly shot toward the horizon at an impressive speed, disappearing within seconds.
After some time, when it seemed that the situation had returned to normal, the soldiers noticed something even more disturbing: behind some cabins on the base, an intense green beam of light was emanating from the ground, partially illuminating the area. Faced with this, they decided to check what was happening.
Armed and accompanied by Fiero, a dog trained for patrol and risk situations, Jesús and two other soldiers headed toward the location from which the light was coming. As they approached, they began to feel strong physical discomfort. They reported sharp noises inside their heads, similar to intense pressure in their ears. Fiero himself showed agitation, whining and shaking his head as if he were in pain.

Suddenly, they realized that something was approaching at high speed. The sound of firm, rapid footsteps could be clearly heard despite the surrounding silence. A large shadow appeared ahead of them, moving in their direction.
Jesús ordered the figure to stop. There was no response. He repeated the command, but the being continued to advance, completely ignoring the orders. Tension increased with each second, and the soldiers began to seriously fear for their lives.
Before a third warning could be given, the soldiers opened fire on the entity. At the exact moment the shots began, the figure stopped, remaining motionless at a distance of about five meters, while the bullets struck it without causing any visible effect.
In the intermittent light of the gunfire and weapon flashes, Jesús was able to observe the being more clearly.

Description of the entity
According to the account, it was a humanoid of extremely unusual appearance. Its height ranged between 2.1 and 2.2 meters, being excessively tall and very thin by human standards. The body displayed elongated proportions, with slender limbs and an upright posture, conveying an almost artificial sense of balance.
The skin was very pale, almost white, with no visible signs of hair or imperfections. The face had smooth, symmetrical features, described by Jesús as angelic, though at the same time unsettling. The eyes appeared large and deep, reflecting light in an unusual way, though without any evident glow of their own.
The being had long, light-colored hair that fell to shoulder length, perfectly aligned, as if unaffected by wind or movement. There were no signs of a beard or facial hair.
It wore a tight-fitting outfit, similar to a jumpsuit or work uniform, with a metallic or synthetic appearance. The clothing had a high collar, with no visible seams, and seemed to mold perfectly to the entity’s anatomy. At the waist, there was a belt with a prominent buckle, at the center of which a peculiar symbol could be seen: an inverted triangle, clearly visible even under the irregular lighting of the moment.

Despite being struck by the gunfire, the being showed no sign of pain, defensive reaction, or any kind of injury. It remained completely motionless, in silence, observing the soldiers, as if human action posed no threat at all.
After the burst of gunfire, the figure continued to stare at them. For a few moments of extreme tension, it remained motionless, until, abruptly, it turned around and disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. What most intrigued the soldiers was the fact that, at the exact point where the entity appeared and disappeared, there was only a large drop in the terrain. The base had been built on the top of a mountain, and there were no trees, structures, or any element that could obstruct the view or serve as cover for someone to flee in that manner.
When they managed to recover from the shock, the soldiers decided to inspect the area. That was when they discovered that a section of the fence surrounding the base had been completely disintegrated. At least two meters of the structure had simply vanished. The most curious detail is that the security fence was composed of two layers, and only the inner one had been breached, with no evident signs of cutting, explosion, or conventional forced entry.
After a thorough search of the area, without finding additional traces, the soldiers returned to the administrative sector of the base, where they were interrogated by the commanders. Days later, Jesús stated that much of what he had experienced seemed to have completely disappeared from his memory, and that it was necessary for one of his companions to help him recall the events.
Shortly afterward, American agents wearing United States Air Force uniforms arrived at the base. They requested to interrogate the three soldiers separately, demanding detailed accounts of the facts. At the end of the testimonies, they left a clear and direct recommendation: that they should forget what had happened and not give any further importance to the episode.
According to the soldiers, one of the strangest aspects of the Americans’ visit was the photographic procedure they were subjected to. They were taken outside the base and positioned in front of a white wall that directly reflected the intense sunlight. One by one, their photos were taken using an extremely powerful flash. What intrigued them the most was precisely the use of the flash in full daylight, something that was never explained to them.
Five years later, a very similar incident occurred at the Talavera la Real Base.
The Talavera la Real Air Base incident – November 12, 1976
On the night of November 12, 1976, at around 1:45 a.m., José Trejo and Juan Carrizosa were on duty in the supply area of Talavera la Real Air Base, in Badajoz, Spain. Both were soldiers of the Spanish Air Force and carried out armed surveillance duties in one of the most sensitive areas of the base, responsible for fuel control and storage. Each was stationed in his guard booth, separated by approximately 60 meters, carrying out routine procedures when they heard a strange and unusual noise.

At first, the sound seemed like radio interference, something relatively common in military installations. However, within moments, the noise turned into a sharp, piercing whistle, so intense that it caused pain in their ears. The soldiers believed that someone might have entered the military zone, but after about five minutes, the sound abruptly stopped.
Trejo shouted to Carrizosa asking if he had also heard the noise, and the answer was immediate: yes. Faced with the situation, both prepared their weapons, Z-62 submachine guns, and began a visual inspection of the surrounding area. Shortly afterward, the sound returned, even stronger, to the point that both felt as if their heads were going to explode. Again, after about five minutes, the noise stopped. Then they observed an intense vertical light in the sky, similar to a flash, which remained visible for approximately 15 to 20 seconds.
In light of what had occurred, José Hidalgo, another soldier from the base, accompanied by a colleague and dogs trained for risk situations, approached the guard booths and asked whether they had seen the flash. Fearing a possible act of sabotage inside the military installation, they decided to inform the guard corporal, Pavón, who ordered a complete inspection of the entire area.
The soldiers began walking parallel to the wall that separates the main road from the base. As the dog, specially trained for this type of situation, showed no signs of nervousness, they remained relatively calm. However, after covering about 300 meters, they felt a strong whirlwind and clearly heard the branches of a nearby eucalyptus tree breaking.
Immediately, the soldiers went on alert. With submachine guns in hand, they released the dog, which ran directly toward the place from where the sound of the branches had come. They waited for the animal to react with barking or some sign of attack, but after a few seconds the dog returned slow, staggering, and visibly disoriented. Shortly afterward, it began running in circles around the soldiers, a typical protective behavior for which it had been trained.
The soldiers continued advancing and ordering whoever was there to identify themselves, but no one responded. It was then that José Trejo had the clear sensation of being followed. At a distance of about 15 meters, they sighted a greenish figure, composed of points of light, approximately 3 meters tall.
Description of the being

The entity had a clearly non-human appearance. Its form was enveloped by an intense greenish luminosity, as if its body were composed of small points of light. The head was small in relation to the body and appeared to be covered by something resembling a helmet, with no facial features clearly distinguishable.
The torso was described as bulky and heavy, contrasting with extremely long and disproportionate arms that hung along the body. It was not possible to clearly identify hands, fingers, or legs, due to the brightness that enveloped the entire figure. The being did not produce audible sounds nor display conventional movements, moving in a strange and silent manner.
Its presence caused intense physical discomfort in the soldiers, including muscle rigidity, a sensation of paralysis, and strong pressure in the head, effects that manifested immediately during visual contact.
Trejo attempted to fire his weapon but was unable to do so. His body became rigid and he fell to the ground, unable to move. At that moment, Hidalgo and Carrizosa opened fire on the entity. Between 40 and 50 shots were fired in its direction. The creature glowed intensely for a few moments and then suddenly disappeared. Shortly afterward, the sinister sound heard earlier returned, this time lasting between 10 and 15 seconds.

The soldiers helped Trejo to his feet, and the entire base was placed on maximum alert.
The following day, about 50 people carried out a thorough sweep of the area where the incident had occurred. No evidence was found. There were no spent shell casings on the ground, nor any impact marks on the perimeter wall, despite later confirmation that the weapon cartridges had in fact been used.
A few days later, upon entering the base cafeteria, Trejo suddenly went blind and collapsed unconscious to the floor. From that episode on, he began to experience health problems and was hospitalized on November 30 at the Air Force Hospital in Madrid, where he was diagnosed with nervous imbalance. According to later records, these symptoms did not recur.
Air Force specialists officially confirmed that the shots had been fired. However, one question remained unanswered. What happened to the bullets that were fired that night? What, or who, was hit at Talavera la Real Air Base?
Similarities between the events
When comparing the two episodes that occurred at the EVA-4 Base (1971) and Talavera la Real (1976), it is possible to identify several striking similarities, both in context and in the nature of the encounters, which leads many researchers to consider the cases as part of the same pattern of phenomena.
The main similarities observed are:
First, both occurred at strategic military bases, with restricted access and sensitive infrastructure. EVA-4 was a radar installation, while Talavera la Real housed an air base with a fuel supply area. In both cases, the events took place at locations of high military interest.
Second, the encounters involved armed soldiers on night surveillance duty. In both episodes, trained military personnel, fully engaged in their official duties, reported the events independently, without being in leisure or relaxed situations, which reinforces the seriousness of the testimonies.
Third, the presence of luminous phenomena preceded direct contact. At EVA-4, a light was observed over the radar antennas before the appearance of the entity. At Talavera, there were strange sounds and a vertical flash in the sky shortly before the appearance of the being. In both cases, the light appears to act as a precursor element to the encounter.
Fourth, the entities displayed humanoid characteristics, yet were clearly non-human. Although physically different, both beings were described as extremely tall, with unusual appearance and silent behavior. The sensation reported by the soldiers was not that of a human intruder, but of something completely outside the known standard.
Fifth, there were physical and psychological effects on the military personnel. In both events, the soldiers reported intense discomfort, pressure in the head, sharp noises, and a sensation of paralysis or bodily rigidity. In Talavera, José Trejo became temporarily incapacitated, while at EVA-4 there were reports of confusion and partial memory loss afterward.
Sixth, firearm discharges had no apparent effect on the entities. In both cases, the soldiers opened fire directly at the beings at close range, and in neither case were there visible signs of injury, collapse, or defensive reaction. The entities remained motionless or simply disappeared.
Seventh, the disappearance of the beings occurred abruptly and inexplicably. Neither episode presented a conventional escape, sounds of footsteps, or clear traces on the ground that could explain the withdrawal of the entities.
Eighth, material evidence was lacking after the incidents. In Talavera, no cartridges, projectiles, or impact marks were found, despite confirmation that shots had been fired. At EVA-4, there was anomalous damage to the base fence, without a satisfactory technical explanation. In both cases, the absence of physical evidence is a central point of the mystery.
Ninth, green light emerges as a common and recurring element in both episodes. At the EVA-4 Base, before the encounter with the Nordic-looking humanoid being, the soldiers reported the presence of an intense green beam of light inside the base, which directly preceded the appearance of the entity. At Talavera la Real, the being itself was described as greenish and luminous, in addition to the prior observation of a flash in the sky. In both cases, the green light appears to play a fundamental role as the initial manifestation of the phenomenon, further reinforcing the idea of a shared pattern between the two events.
Finally, there was intervention by higher authorities after the events. At EVA-4, foreign agents interrogated the soldiers and recommended silence. At Talavera, the case was handled internally, with generic medical explanations and without broad official disclosure, bringing the matter to a rapid conclusion.
Taken together, these similarities suggest that the two episodes were not common isolated events, but occurrences that share the same pattern of manifestation, reinforcing the enigmatic character of the encounters recorded at Spanish military bases during the 1970s.
