I remember seeing it on Google maps, it had a weird address like it's a city within a city. I don't remember the "whateverstan" name, it was a military nickname of Afghanistan from a movie.

  • I’ve lived in all over Florida for more than 10 years and Parque Jose Marti is the only thing I know of similar to what you’re talking about. It is owned by Cuba, but it is not technically sovereign. It’s basically a tiny piece of land with some plaques and statues, there were lots of chickens when I went. It’s in Tampa’s historic area called Ybor. Doesn’t end with Stan though!

  • I don't know about any officially designated and sovereign land in Florida ending in "stan"...especially considering if it was sovereign, it wouldn't technically be a part of Florida...

But McDill AFB outside of Tampa has been affectionately referred to as "Tampastan" by troops stationed there as it is home to CENTCOM and SOCOM which oversees operations in the Middle East (and the actual "stans"), and one might be officially assigned to McDill on paper while unofficially downrange in a "stan", or reporting to work and keeping Afghan hours as command staff or drone operators supporting troops actually there.

  • IDK about Florida, but it sounds similar to the Republic of Molossia in Nevada…

  • Pretty sure you're thinking of Fustanburg in Miami-Dade, it's like a tiny military training area that got the nickname from some old war movie. Could be totally wrong but that sounds familiar

  • There’s a Hindustan here in Indiana…

Heard something similar once before. Yakistan - Washington State Yakima military training grounds. Is it definitely Florida? I wouldn't doubt it, I also heard something similar regarding a town in California IIRC.
