In just about every situation the stamina enhancement is better. It can be annoying to be sprinting and suddenly take damage and realize it's because you ran out of stamina
I'd definitely recommend swapping out something else for it, vitality itself does a lot for dead sprint. If I remember correctly it goes from 3.6% to 1% health drain per second.
Yes but not being hit brings mortality down from something percent to no percent. And when you start by yourself like I tend to, you can't synergize with anyone
I'm not sure I follow, I'm not telling you to not bring dead sprint, I'm just saying it works well with vitality enhancement to significantly reduce the health drain, you're still gonna be dodging the hits.
If you use vitality, sprint, and dead spint boosters combined you can sprint for two minutes straight without having to stim. It’s a good booster if you bring the essential boosters with it
Damage is negligible with vitality. Again, two whole minutes of sprinting before needing to stim. That’ll get you where you need to go fast before you ever run out of health. I stim all the time to get my stamina back in a pinch anyway
Are you swrious rn? 😅 how does this have so many upvotes?? Vitality is almost essential to run with it cause it makes the damage go from like 3.6 to 1
Running deadsprint without vitality is horrible, but with vitality its actually pretty solid. If they ever decide to give us full loadout so optimization isnt needed, than id run deadsprint as my 4th
Rn its kinda for the memes as none of the usual 4 suspects are worth swapping tbh
Basically no damage is not the same as no damage. It can absolutely work well, but it’s a horrible thing to surprise other players with. Most people don’t perfectly sync their sprinting up with their stamina bar, and finding yourself losing health unexpectedly is a horrible feeling, no matter how small.
When everything one shots you below 80% hp losing 10% means your effectively full hp still but you just sprinted 2x longer than stamina booster as well.
It needs a better tell and perhaps more delay more damage, possibly even make the damage from dead sprint recoverable. But I don’t think it’s terrible, it just has a tangible downside where most perks don’t.
I honestly think the fire pods are worse. As we are always standing close too were our pods drop. Dead sprint just doesn't stand up to the stamina enhancement or experimental stims. if its equipped on someone elses load out im not gonna harass them for it cause maybe they've figured out how to work or its their first time. (edit, got my boosters mixed up)
I’ve found fire bomb pods are good if you run with mates that know your plan, because it’s great for throwing a turret into a group of enemies. Gives it time to set up before getting mauled
I could see it being good for turret or mine spam on the defend the rockets mission, considering one of the other meta picks is much less meta on that mission, might be a good option
I don’t think it’s worth it. You would limit your options in terms of where to throw strategems or where to land after death pretty significantly. It’s a big liability.
My first experience with fire pods was on a fire tornado planet and bugs with the rupture strain. I never, ever, want to see someone use that thing again. People were leaving because they would die as soon as they landed when throwing their strats over and over again, and then the new one that came did the same thing (SOS was on). Their were fire everywhere. Somehow bugs were unaffected by all that but we were constantly diving to put out the flames but what's IN the ground? Bugs. So yeah f*** fire pods.
Took me half an op to realize somebody took it. I'm just yelling over mic "is anyone else taking random bleed damage? What a weird bug"
Like it was already a pretty buggy mission (on the bug front, ha) but I was just fully ready to accept a random bleed bug over someone actually taking dead sprint. Did laugh about on comms figuring it out later though, no hate
It’s a very blown out of proportion booster and not that hard to manage once you know what’s going on. I already deal with invisible bleeding damage from time to time at least with the booster you know why it’s happening and how to mitigate it. Plus I would rather a random bring that than fire pods and cook me while I’m trying to pick up my hellbomb or whatever I called in.
It’s a pretty disliked pick outside of private squads. With a squad that has the right loadouts and teamwork it can work to clean up missions fast, but in pubs it is near always a bad/selfish pick
It’s not as bad as flame hellpods but it is still annoying to see. Bro was overreacting though
Guy is being a bitch, but imo yes it's that bad. Say you're getting chased by a hoard of enemies and you have no stims left, because of dead sprint you're basically cooked. I wouldn't cuss you out though, when I see someone using it I just find a new match, unless I'm already in mission in which case I just put up with it and say gg
It depends. I take it in case someone already picked up stim upgrade, occasionally. But I also run stim pistol, so... Hard to say. It's very situational, if anything.
extremely situational, vitality is 100% a must take with this booster, and the only situation where its a somewhat good pick is when the dss is on a planet and you have hellpod opt already, and youre running a blitz mission. Solid like 4 different factors coming into play to make the booster somewhat helpful and not a terrible pick.
It should by default do the amount of damage it does with vitality up (it could be coded to ignore damage negation after this so it doesnt get negated), over time you should semi slowly recover the amount of health you lost while using dead sprint once you stop running, rewarding using it smartly, it should let you run even faster once it starts draining health, and there should be an option to use it in mission, say you run out of stamina, you could get a prompt to go into dead sprint, or just ignore it.
To be honest if dead Sprint worked like that then I would actually take it because then I don't have to worry about randomly dying while I'm trying to run away from a horde
and honestly yeah I wouldn't cuss someone out over that that's kind of stupid all I would have said in his situation was that the booster is not that good and that's it and I would have left it at that and I would have dealt with the mission unless they kicked me after I said that because sometimes that might happen
Why are you cooked because of dead sprint though? You can just stop running, like you'd normally be forced to anyway.
You choose to use dead sprint, even with the booster enabled.
Because you’re out of stims and being chased by a horde? So now you have to manage avoiding damage from accidentally over sprinting and avoiding the mobs from hitting you.
The situation would be no different without the booster. You’re cooked anyways. Having to manage your stamina ain’t gonna make the difference. You have to manage it anyway. I always manage my stamina regardless of booster.
atleast without it I can do that pitiful half sprint without worry or taking damage. Without it, youre never "forced" to stop sprinting. With it, you are.
Think of it this way. Why would you take a "perk" where the most common action in the game can/will get you killed on occasion?
Then use dead sprint instead of that pitiful half sprint? Unless you are running around on 1 hp you can sprint a bit and just get out of danger instead of half sprinting and having to spam dive to make a feeble attempt to get away before dying.
Dead sprint is much less damage than getting hit by an enemy
I mean, if you're being chased by a hoard of enemies and have no stims... without Dead Sprint, you're also cooked. You're never going to escape them at a jog speed, and Dead Sprint lets you keep running. In light armor you can make it, and you only lose a tiny amount of HP for every bit.
The last time our squad ran it, I ended up triggering it and didn't even realize I did because I didn't lose any noticeable amount of health.
Because you have the option to keep sprinting if you want to? In some situations haveing that choice is great? I'd rather take a millimetre of damaged than let a charger catch up with me
You're not outrunning bugs and gunfire for the most part anyway (hunters/chargers/Bile Titans/stalkers either the OG or predator strain all outrun you at full sprint)
The HP loss from Dead Sprint sometimes is enough to mark you down from "barely surviving" to dead status, and let's be honest you are not taking merely "a millimetre" of damage when attempting to outrun a Charger anyway
Instead of running try dropping a stratagem under your feet or somewhere necessary to get rid of enemies which is just as valid
Sure but you're only picking situations that describe when it won't work - what about all the times it does help? Start with against bots or Illuminate thenn?
"sometimes" is exactly why it is a balanced booster- it requires you to choose it when you know it will help.
I think I'm saying that Dead Sprint isn't bad per se, it's just that Stamina booster is too ubiquitous and has no downside. Stamina booster and health booster are jsut straight up buffs which means they are badly designed if you want interesting gameplay.
1- you are definitely outrunning bugs and gunfire. If you find something you can't outrun like the stalkers etc then you have to fight them. In this scenario dead sprint only proposed more sprinting time which can be priceless.
The HP loss from Dead Sprint is negligible. If dead sprint is killing you, that's because you rely on democracy protects too much and therefore you are rolling twice due the sprint, which is valid. In all other options, the damage cannot be the problem. If you need sprint and have to outrun a charger, you only need to move to a side and dodge it, which dead sprint helps. Again, it opens possibilities and minimum cost.
You can do both. Sometimes you have to run and you can't because you are out of stamina, and that's when dead sprint shines.
People just see the red flash and panic, but the damage like I said is negligible. If you are dying by it, you were already dying by something else.
With the difference that you can now choose the least damaging option. Im not swaying it's better than stamina booster but it certainly adds a choice to every situation - take a little damage to avoid a lot of damage.
Say you're getting chased by a hoard of enemies and you have no stims left, because of dead sprint you're basically cooked.
You know you can stop sprinting, right? Which is what you do if you don't have dead sprint. Also dead sprint keeps you alive in the exact situation you described.
I wouldnt get this upset about it but dead sprint is just kind of annoying. I would much rather someone bring experimental infusion or stamina enhancements to make map traversal easier.
I really do wonder what AH thinks with some of the boosters, I always bring the meth, unless someone else beats me to it. I would like to change it up, but why handicap myself for something that is less fun.
Yup. I curse them to myself with my mic muted, and then I just leave the squad when we're all done. I solely do SOS beacons when I play solo anyway, so I just assume I'm not needed anymore and take off to the next SOS.
The easy solution here is for them to change the mechanics a bit. You hold sprint, run out of stamina, then need to hit the sprint button again to activate dead sprint. This way everyone is happy. Enjoyers get to use it, but normal people don’t need to worry about randomly losing health.
Could even make it a double-tap input like the super sprint from newer COD games, that way it's easy to hit in a pinch and doesn't actually take up any input keys that normal sprint wasn't already using.
Without the health boost as well, dead sprint is a flat negative. Not only do other boosters such as stamina boost provide better utility/more sprint time, but all without penalizing you. Its trash
My duo and I take Dead Sprint + Vitality on nearly every mission. It is ridiculously slept on.
Disclaimer: all of this is made in consideration that the Vitality Booster is equipped as well. If it is not, DS hurts a lot more. With Vitality, DS sips at your health.
Sure, you "have to pay attention to your stamina bar" (if your screen flashes once, then maybe press shift if you're that worried about it). Sure, it uses your health.
What do you get in turn? Ridiculous utility. Berserkers on top of you and you aren't reloaded? Just sprint! Hunters on your heels? Just sprint! Hot planet? Dead Sprint doesn't care, just sprint! Need to cross the entire map? Sprint the entire way, stim once when you get there!
Someone earlier commented about "what if you have enemies chasing you and you are out of stims then you are screwed" because of it. I'd really like to know what scenario exists where you a) need to sprint for over a minute without killing the things that are chasing you (the amount of time that it would take for DS to use half of your health), and b) exactly what enemy wouldn't have already killed you in this scenario by then... Dead Sprint is a Swiss Army knife. You don't have to deplete your entire bar. Use a bit in a sticky situation or none at all.
And as many have mentioned... YOU DON'T HAVE TO ENGAGE IT! Just stop sprinting! It's not hard! Your screen flashes once it starts engaging! All I see when people complain about that are people that are too lazy to press the button again and would rather go semi-afk. And the "hobbled over out of stamina" sprint is about 20% faster than walking... so sure, it's something... or... you could just stim once when you get to your destination!
At the end of the day, most of the complaints seem to boil down to people wanting to whine. Dead Sprint is optional (even when equipped), controllable, and insanely powerful if you use your brain for half a second. I know Helldivers eat crayons, but ignoring one of the most useful boosters in the game because you do not want to press sprint again is wild.
It's the definition of a booster that has an extremely strong effect with a fair trade off, but since it requires a modicum of skill and mental overhead to utilize the majority of players just can't handle it's existence. The upper end of players know that it's tied with Muscle Enhancement for fifth best booster (behind Vitality, Stamina, Experimental Stims, and UAV Booster) and so handily beats out the beloved crutch of Hellpod Space Optimization.
Glad I'm not the only one that appreciates it. Unfortunately I never really take it because people get so mad. Everyone saying "stamina booster is better" are missing out on using both. Best booster combination is health, stamina, stims, and dead sprint. Hellpod optimization is vastly overrated
Not seeing how vastly superior the dead sprint (with vitality, which should always be present anyways) is compare to the stamina booster its just a skill issue.
It's psychological, mostly. People have a visceral reaction to taking damage.
I will say that Dead Sprint almost requires Vitality as a complement, but we usually have that one.
I prefer Dead Sprint to Stamina. In most cases you do in fact have a stim left, so it really shines for running long distances, even if you also have a mobility pack. Run out your stamina, run your health down, then pop that Stim and get both back.
In a fight or while retreating you'll hardly notice the chip damage and you'll stay out of danger better. The sad little gassed out trot of zero stamina is inferior by miles, and it prevents you from crouch-sliding into cover.
The main bad thing about Dead Sprint is the way it makes some people feel. The wheezing and damage indicators can stress folks out.
Most other boosters are better but dead sprint is only bad if you don't pay attention to your sprint bar. Complaining about it like complaining about getting killed by the ultimatum, entirely your fault.
Nah dead sprint is amazing especially of you’re a heavy armour user. Depending on the mission its also extremely valueable. And surprising vs rupture strain its SUPER valueable.
The cave bug planet it was also EXTREMELY valueable due to all the bullshit water everywhere
If you use deadsprint with vitality enhancement, the damage dealt by dead sprint is almost nothing. You could sprint for 5 minutes before reaching the health threshold
I've seen people get kicked for bringing dead sprint, so yes. It's right up there below flame hell pods for "this booster provides negative value to the team".
I have over 1500 hours in this game. No, it’s not that bad. It is a sidegrade to stamina enhancement and is either a style you enjoy (like myself) or you don’t (like a majority of the playerbase). I personally see health as a resource to be used and am okay running around (even without DS) without full health. If you’re one of those types that must have your phone battery above 80% at all times because anything less gives you anxiety, it’s not for you.
The key to unlocking its full potential is that it ideally must be paired with Vitality enhancement to make it worth it. Normally it drains at ~3.6%/s but when paired with vitality booster it drains at ~1%/s. This means that with heavy armor you can sprint for nearly 2 straight minutes and with one stim used toward the end, start the cycle over.
I’ve given up on trying to convince the masses of anything other than the “accepted meta” way of playing.
Pretty much the only situation Dead Sprint is good for is when you're Super Credit Farming, and your FRV gets destroyed, so you have to hoof it everywhere.
Buggy game with chances of being oneshot.exe always significant. Any additional chip damage taken equates to an increased likelihood of oneshot.exe. Standard/best practices are to stim if you take any damage at all as not doing so has a high chance of leaving you vulnerable to oneshot.exe at any time. Therefore Dead Sprint is generally a net negative option as the possibility of death is more likely when HP is not maxed even if the gains on mobility theoretically outweigh the cost of placing oneself in such a scenario
Dead Sprint is in the catagory of "not one of the OP boosters, but not even close to being bad."
Is it on the level of the Big Four? Absolutely not. But it synergizes with two of them. I'd say it's on the level of Increased Reinforcement Budget or Armed Resupply Pods- not make or break, but can definitely be helpful should someone not have Experimental Infusion (or the DSS is providing Hellpod Space Optimization.)
People can barely contain themselves from reloading a quarter spend magazine. Asking them to not stim a touch of hurt health of course creates angry emotionally charged statements. Those are WAY more finite so it creates this cognitive dissonance that turns UGLY quick.
I see it as a boon in blitz missions when sprinting place to place and just popping a stim on arrival and throwing an orbital/barrage works decently enough. Sprint, stim, toss mass destruction bal-repeat
I mean, I wouldn’t cuss someone out for it, but I’d certainly understand if someone was mad. I’m always running heavy armor, so I lose stamina faster, meaning I’ll be taking damage from the simple act of running more than anything else. I’ve had games where I died because a mob was chasing me, had no stimms, and needed to run away but died because I was just too low on health.
In spite of the health loss incurred, this is still an effective tool to help you escape danger.
In a situation where you're going to die from being caught up to after draining too much health, it would be a certainty that enemies would have much greater ease killing you if you lacked the stamina to escape altogether.
There are 2 major problems with it that I see:
Stamina is free, so Dead Sprint isn't comparatively valuable.
It really wants that DoT reduced by the Vitality booster. The damage can be quite heavy.
Dead sprint is good if someone brings the vitality booster as it gives you 120 seconds of sprint before you hit the health minimum of 5% where it turns off. If you don't have vitality booster it's not as good as you only get 25 seconds of sprinting when you run out of stamina.
TLDR if you have vitality booster bring dead sprint. If you don't have vitality booster already don't bring dead sprint.
lmao dead sprint with vitality is literally just an infinite sprinting buff. the damage is so negligible i cannot comprehend why anyone finds it negative
Anyone who actually suffers from dead man sprint just proves they have no awareness of their own stamina. It's not your fault he's not watching his own stamina meter
you should already be watching your stamina so you don’t completely run out because that will be inefficient compared to simply using the recharge time to walk and shoot.
in the situations where you need a little bit more sprint time it’s usually also a situation where you would benefit from a stim and a full stamina reset.
anyone spending significant time jogging is bad at managing stamina and just slowing down the team.
the heavy armor people have a bad time anyway if the goal is to move quickly somewhere
i feel like many people think its faster to just slow sprint out of stamina than walking to let it recover, they talk like dead sprint is constantly always slowly killing them? even if you forget for a second its a teeny smidge of health
anyone that thinks dead sprint is bad has skills issues, it's not a meta booster but it is by no means bad as people say it is.
it gives you the option to continue sprinting when out of stamina, where in a normal situation you would just have to stop sprinting and wait for stamina to regenerate, guess what, you can do that too with DS to not take damage.
not only that, pairing it with vitality enhancement makes the damage negligible.
If you dislike dead sprint, just... stop running when out of stamina? You know, like you would normally do anyways?
Edit after reading comments: TIL stopping to catch you breath is bad, but dead sprint keeping you on the move also bad. And most helldivers can't seem to stop running when given the option.
You can keep sprinting and drain health instead of stamina. Until you run low on health then it stops working. It's helpful for the handful of times you need another 10s of sprint OR else you die.
But if you bring it in be aware most people hate it. You can be a bro and bring a stim pistol, too.
Oh and the health booster ❤️ reduces the damage it does by like 75% or something.
No it isn't. It's significantly stronger than Stamina booster when paired with vitality. But without Vitality, Yes, it is that bad.
Don't listen to what others say. If your playstyle is reckless, then Vitality+Dead Sprint is your best combo with medic Armor. You can basically run non stop for over 3 mins with a single stim and still remain at over 60% hp. You can effectively outrun almost anything in the game. Stamina management is not required.
Stamina, health, experimental stims, and dead sprint. You'll be running across the map like a Finnish soldier on pervitin. Dead Sprint with stamina and health boosters on barely does anything, but I'd still never force it on randoms because of the penalty, and on some maps it's better to have muscle booster anyways.
It's like taking a bunch of arc weapons or mines. If everybody is on the same page it's fine. 4th of July we had that free airburst rocket launcher and free 380mm from the DSS. I ran all 4 orbital barrages with a servo assisted armor, no friendly fire incidents but I did get a few wary "do you know what you're doings" typed in chat.
When people are mad that they need to just not go over their stamina limit (which they should already be doing) if they don’t want to take minuscule damage.
Though if you need to get away anyways and have a million things chasing you some minuscule damage>the loss of a reinforcement.
This guy is being dramatic but yea dead sprint is terrible. It is only really useful in long stretches of sprinting across the map and even then not worth it because you can just stim when your stamina depletes. If you are a situation where you are overwhelmed and need the continuous sprinting, you have already made a mistake with positioning and threat assessment. In these emergency situations relying on dead sprint teaches bad habits. It is also outclassed in every way by muscle, stamina, vitality, hellpod, and experimental.
I sprint a LOT. And get annoyed about it ONLY when someone joins mid game with it and I didn’t see it in their loadout. Cause then I start taking a lot of damage while sprinting to the next objective. I like to sneak about while my buddies take on the big battles sometimes and run a sabotage loadout (again only sometimes). Big boom sneaky sneaky.
It can definitely suck in some tight combat moments when I’m running from 6 hulks and suddenly die from dead sprint…
I sometimes take dead sprint with my friends instead of the supply one. With dead sprint, stamina and vitality enhancement, and the experimental infusion, you basically get infinite sprint with VERY little damage while running. It’s a very good combo for us, and we personally do not use the supply one since we just call supplies all the time anyway and rarely die.
However, I can see how it’s annoying to others. But it is nowhere near as bad as people say it is. With all the boosters I mentioned (unless AH changed something) you can run for literal minutes non stop until you deplete your health, and then you just can’t run anymore because it automatically stops you. Yes, there is a risk of dying if you get attacked in that specific moment, but in our mind if you’ve been sprinting for minutes and did not heal nor did not remove the threat - that’s on you.
It's in the game. You're not wrong for using it. You go have fun, brother. Use whatever Stratagems you want. Use whatever booster you want. I usually ignore people like this.
When you can be kicked because someone ran into your Turret and got mulched... it's crazy these people don't look inward. It's a Turret. There's Enemies. The turrets shooting at enemies. Why run in front of the turret... and then proceed to blame me for their actions? Especially when I'm using Turrets to cover choke points.
At the very least, move to the side of it instead of in front of it.
I just don’t like the effect around the screen and my character constantly groaning. Other than that i thinks its alright especially since i run heavy armour.
If I ever host open missions (I usually just play private lobby with my buddy) I always ask Randoms who have it on to change it, just a horrible version of stamina enhancement but if I'm not hosting and I join a mission with someone using it I cant complain cause I'm not the host
I think this person is over reacting, but personally I dislike having to watch my sprint meter so I don't accidentally hurt myself. I tend to run light armor anyways so I don't have a ton of health to burn.
Dead sprint is the absolute worst. There's no situation where it is more useful than the standard stamina enhancement. I leave any squad where it's used immediately.
it can sometimes be useful like when you have a hulk scorcher up your ass, but the thing about it is that if someone has it then you dont have one of the other useful boosters.
Its really anoying unless you agreed to it before the mission. If you join a random mission after its already started, dont bring it. Its anoying for people to start loosing heath when sprinting in the middle of the mission. Aspetialy heavy armor users since we have like 2 stamina.
Attacks can, more often than you think, leave you with only a sliver of health left. The health loss from Dead Sprint can often be just enough to push you over that threshold and cause an attack to outright kill you.
While I would never kick someone for taking it, I would definitely be asking a player to pick a different booster.
Personally I find it mildly irritating when teammates bring dead sprint. But not enough to warrent throwing shade at the player who brought it.
That being said I think if you wanna bring it, its good etiquette to get consent from your team before you do as it can cause problems for them if they arent prepared got it
Dead sprint is fine if you have vitality booster, without vitality it is bad due to health stamina conversion. People dislike when character starts receiving a bit of damage. Its 2 mins of stamina if you use all your health.
It can be handy if you use a heavy armor user or its a hot map, or both situations at same time since even with stamina booster your stamina is gone quickly.
Could they have taken something else? Maybe. Is it warranted to insult plus a kick? Not really, host is being dramatic. BUT it is their game so they can kick someone even without valid reason, or a reason at all.
The ampunt of times I was so confused why i am suddenly losing health for no apparent reason, panicking, stimming thinking i got bleed bug etc. In general you dont take it unless you want to farm sc with someone, so you get perma sprint.
It's not as bad as people claim, but it's honestly just rude to bring it. Very few people use dead sprint, so it always catches people off guard when they suddenly lose hp for no reason. But I've never died because of it and I've never seen someone die from it. And losing one life isn't dramatic in this game anyway.
But it's annoying that you change how a core mechanic works for your entire squad.
I will however kick people for using Firebomb Hellpods. That's just a troll booster.
So, yeah... I'd say it's pretty bad, especially on harder difficulties. If you're playing easier difficulties to farm samples I'd consider using it shrug
I'd argue that Dead Sprint is actually better than Stam Enhancement on fire planets and when someone is running the health booster (reduces damage from DS).
It's best paired with heavy armor, where DS lets you run for a lot longer. When your stamina is already nerfed hard on fire planets + heavy armor, SE would still have you run out of stam pretty quickly and regen painfully slow.
DS without the health booster though is terrible, because then the health drain is way too pronounced. At that point you'll get more value out of SE and using stims to regen stam.
Won't recommend DS for fighting Bugs however, most are going to run light armor so DS will be used a lot less, whereas the benefits of SE will be active more often.
In just about every situation the stamina enhancement is better. It can be annoying to be sprinting and suddenly take damage and realize it's because you ran out of stamina
"So it looks like the gang is all here"- The diver with the stamina booster hopping in at the last second.

As host, I'll sometimes take it over vitality. Sometimes it's better to outrun the damage than take the damage
Ah, I see the confusion. I bring stamina booster sometimes as the host, replying to the first guy who's joke was structured with bringing it last
I don't even have truth enforcers
Ohhh right I get you
pffft. like i need to get hit to get my name engraved on the Wall of Martyrs.
They called it democratic detonation for a reason!
All I know is that super meth solves all problems.
If you use vitality, sprint, and dead spint boosters combined you can sprint for two minutes straight without having to stim. It’s a good booster if you bring the essential boosters with it
I don't wanna have to stim at all just to sprint. And when I'm in a full on escape run I really don't wanna be taking extra damage.
Damage is negligible with vitality. Again, two whole minutes of sprinting before needing to stim. That’ll get you where you need to go fast before you ever run out of health. I stim all the time to get my stamina back in a pinch anyway
Heavy mains crying rn
If you're not running circles around hulks and titans in heavy armour you're doing something wrong
I always take stamina, its 90% more survivability and convenience for everyone.
It's mandatory for heavy armour users too

Vitality helps prevent chest wounds which kill you before you can even stim though
Exception: your team decides to reenact WW1 chemical warfare
Are you swrious rn? 😅 how does this have so many upvotes?? Vitality is almost essential to run with it cause it makes the damage go from like 3.6 to 1
Running deadsprint without vitality is horrible, but with vitality its actually pretty solid. If they ever decide to give us full loadout so optimization isnt needed, than id run deadsprint as my 4th
Rn its kinda for the memes as none of the usual 4 suspects are worth swapping tbh
As a game with not many metas. This is definitely the best booster loadout fr.
The four food groups
U sprint way longer if you have dead sprint and the heart booster
You also basically take no damage. It’s giga over hated on Reddit. It’s a good booster
Agreed. Would you rather sprint 20% longer, or have INFINITE SPRINT at the cost of a little bit of health?
It makes the biggest heavy armor penalty downright manageable. It's awesome.
IIRC because of how all this is coded Vitality Booster also stacks with Heavy for purposes of reducing the damage.
A straight uninterrupted run across the map to get to pelican, only costs you barely a quarter of your health, Stim at destination and you're fine.
Cost: 1 Stim
Running across the map trying to maintain speed because the terrain is miserable so you pump every time you run out of stamina.
Cost: I need Stims!
That's why I take it when someone gets stamina enhancement - more running. Especially in heavy armour. And when I'm really low I just stim myself.
This is fake news. The proper use of fire pods with friends is to rage bait the shit out of them.
Especially on the Gas Swamp biome, where the firepods will ignite the environmental Gas and 'accidentally' cause even more damage,
There’s ignitable environmental gas???
Yes, for example, this plant that emits it

I absolutely love that they included this. First time I blew one was SO cool!
And it just kept going. It was awesome!
I could see it being good for turret or mine spam on the defend the rockets mission, considering one of the other meta picks is much less meta on that mission, might be a good option
im glad its getting some use then
I don’t think it’s worth it. You would limit your options in terms of where to throw strategems or where to land after death pretty significantly. It’s a big liability.
100%, fire pods are the worst booster in the game, I'd take dead sprint over them any time.
Fire pods are the worst if you didn't know that someone was using it (like if the 4th guy joined late and used fire pods).
Otherwise it's a pretty decent booster for the eradicate and emergency evac missions.
Something like monster hunter's red health
Run out of stamina, burn healthbar down
All the burnt health slowly recovers, unless you take damage again, which erases the recoverable bit.
Doubtful, I can still dive with 0 stamina to dodge damage.
Horde* of enemies
I mean, if you're being chased by a hoard of enemies and have no stims... without Dead Sprint, you're also cooked. You're never going to escape them at a jog speed, and Dead Sprint lets you keep running. In light armor you can make it, and you only lose a tiny amount of HP for every bit.
The last time our squad ran it, I ended up triggering it and didn't even realize I did because I didn't lose any noticeable amount of health.
In your example - what stops you from simply catching your breah and regaining some stamina, just as you would if dead sprint wasn't active?
Then the question would be "why bring dead sprint in the first place".
Because you have the option to keep sprinting if you want to? In some situations haveing that choice is great? I'd rather take a millimetre of damaged than let a charger catch up with me
The problem is
You're not outrunning bugs and gunfire for the most part anyway (hunters/chargers/Bile Titans/stalkers either the OG or predator strain all outrun you at full sprint)
The enemies chasing you.
With the difference that you can now choose the least damaging option. Im not swaying it's better than stamina booster but it certainly adds a choice to every situation - take a little damage to avoid a lot of damage.
But don't you normally stop and do what he said without dead sprint ?
You can still jog a lil when out of stamina, which is often the better choice over walking with enemies on your heels
In any case you can't really sprint and will be catched on
You know you can stop sprinting, right? Which is what you do if you don't have dead sprint. Also dead sprint keeps you alive in the exact situation you described.
Why won't AH show which boosters did players pick in the match?
I have been saying this since launch. Just put it next to what stratagems people bring. It’s so easy for AH to do but they just won’t
Unless we make a huge stink about it, so they can't just ignore it.
Because that may allow the players to have fun.
I wouldnt get this upset about it but dead sprint is just kind of annoying. I would much rather someone bring experimental infusion or stamina enhancements to make map traversal easier.
Or even better, bring the frv and be a helldriver
If there's a choice between dead sprint and nothing, I'll take nothing
I really do wonder what AH thinks with some of the boosters, I always bring the meth, unless someone else beats me to it. I would like to change it up, but why handicap myself for something that is less fun.
I would rather my ally equip nothing over this.
I don’t wanna play with it in my game. I won’t cuss you out, but we won’t be in the same match anymore
Yup. I curse them to myself with my mic muted, and then I just leave the squad when we're all done. I solely do SOS beacons when I play solo anyway, so I just assume I'm not needed anymore and take off to the next SOS.
Good to see a fellow SOS diver 🤜
It is 100% my favorite part of this game!
Yeah it's my go to when my friends aren't around. Nice to go where there's a higher chance that they need the help.
I’ll be honest, I hate it. Don’t see the point of it
It is a badly designed booster because other players cannot opt out of the negatives. That's without even considering whether or not it's worth using.
Stuff like this should have never passed QA.
I'd like it better if it increased the speed of your jog or when you're trying to sprint while out of stamina.
Sorry the guy is being a butthole, but yeah it sucks ass.
The easy solution here is for them to change the mechanics a bit. You hold sprint, run out of stamina, then need to hit the sprint button again to activate dead sprint. This way everyone is happy. Enjoyers get to use it, but normal people don’t need to worry about randomly losing health.
Boom. Solved
Could even make it a double-tap input like the super sprint from newer COD games, that way it's easy to hit in a pinch and doesn't actually take up any input keys that normal sprint wasn't already using.
They ought to remove the health penalty. Maybe cut it to something like 80% of full sprint when exhausted, but still faster than without it.
Aside from the damage pods, no other boosters come with penalties for use.
Without the health boost as well, dead sprint is a flat negative. Not only do other boosters such as stamina boost provide better utility/more sprint time, but all without penalizing you. Its trash
Yes.
IT LOOKS LIKE IT DOES NOTHING BUT TRY SPRINTING OVER SNOW OR SAND OR WATER WITHOUT IT. I can't live without Leg Day.
Glad I'm not the only one that appreciates it. Unfortunately I never really take it because people get so mad. Everyone saying "stamina booster is better" are missing out on using both. Best booster combination is health, stamina, stims, and dead sprint. Hellpod optimization is vastly overrated
or on snow planets: health, stamina, muscle, dead sprint.
True, muscle is also underrated. It's what is usually take since I don't want to be yelled at for dead sprint
Preach!
Not seeing how vastly superior the dead sprint (with vitality, which should always be present anyways) is compare to the stamina booster its just a skill issue.
I think it's so hated because helldivers DON'T want to use their brains.
Take it with the vitality booster and you almost lose no HP and get unlimited stamina. I love it.
Also actually worth in my opinion with heavy armors
Makes sense, I only run heavy 😄
As long as someone’s takes the stamina and Health I could give a shit bout the other two
Most other boosters are better but dead sprint is only bad if you don't pay attention to your sprint bar. Complaining about it like complaining about getting killed by the ultimatum, entirely your fault.
It's really nice linked with health enhancement
Imo, just dont join in the middle and pick dead sprint
I personally dont mind it but suddenly mid mission taking damage for sprinting is annoying
Use it from the start or not at all
I like it. I don't have to care about stopping my sprint and i would've used my stim anyway.
Its bad. But not that bad lol they are a baby bitch
I wouldnt have made a big deal out of it, I would just leave. Trash tier perk.
Pretty much the only situation Dead Sprint is good for is when you're Super Credit Farming, and your FRV gets destroyed, so you have to hoof it everywhere.
At that point it's faster to end the mission and load into a fresh one.
Sprint, stim, toss mass destruction bal-repeat
its not at all people just hate it
It's good, but sprint booster is just better, and if you don't have vitality booster it's actually god awful because of how fast it'll kill you.
If deadsprint was a free 5th booster I still wouldn’t take it.
Mfw damage reduction booster and dead sprint let you basically cross the entire map on a single stim
Valid crashout
lmao dead sprint with vitality is literally just an infinite sprinting buff. the damage is so negligible i cannot comprehend why anyone finds it negative
Anyone who actually suffers from dead man sprint just proves they have no awareness of their own stamina. It's not your fault he's not watching his own stamina meter
Can't you just, you know, stop sprinting before you kill yourself? You control the buttons you press.
It’s bad but I’m not sure if it’s like THAT bad like people say.
it’s not that bad, just not very useful.
you should already be watching your stamina so you don’t completely run out because that will be inefficient compared to simply using the recharge time to walk and shoot.
in the situations where you need a little bit more sprint time it’s usually also a situation where you would benefit from a stim and a full stamina reset.
anyone spending significant time jogging is bad at managing stamina and just slowing down the team.
the heavy armor people have a bad time anyway if the goal is to move quickly somewhere
i feel like many people think its faster to just slow sprint out of stamina than walking to let it recover, they talk like dead sprint is constantly always slowly killing them? even if you forget for a second its a teeny smidge of health
anyone that thinks dead sprint is bad has skills issues, it's not a meta booster but it is by no means bad as people say it is.
it gives you the option to continue sprinting when out of stamina, where in a normal situation you would just have to stop sprinting and wait for stamina to regenerate, guess what, you can do that too with DS to not take damage.
not only that, pairing it with vitality enhancement makes the damage negligible.
If you dislike dead sprint, just... stop running when out of stamina? You know, like you would normally do anyways?
Edit after reading comments: TIL stopping to catch you breath is bad, but dead sprint keeping you on the move also bad. And most helldivers can't seem to stop running when given the option.
Dead sprint is cool. And useful.
No it really isn't, the guy is just being dramatic. As long as you also have the vitality enhancement it literally barely does any damage
I love dead sprint
It’s bad but not type in chat bad
Dead Sprint with Vitality booster makes you almost take no damage... I'd take it right now if it werent for snow planets
If someone takes deadsprint I have to full Mute, because I will constantly complain about it the whole Mission, and leave lobby asap
I dont mind it as long as I know someone has it. When the new guy that drops in mid match picks it it's kinda frustrating tho
Dead Sprint alone is bad mojo, but when combined with the Stamina booster and Mod Stims, it can come in clutch.
I hate it. Probably my second least favorite booster behind fire pods. But that guy is overreacting. It’s not that big of a deal
It's not bad per se, but i find it pretty annoying when it's used.
Not the greatest, but a true Helldiver plays the hand they’re dealt. Adversity is just another obstacle in war.
My friends run dead sprint when they want to troll me. It’s horrible
Only when it doesn't get paired with the vitality booster
I had a friend that I would consider executing (in-game) if they picked it. But only that once before continuing the game.
It sucks, but it doesn’t suck enough to excuse that kind of reaction.
I wouldn't go that far but dead sprint is ass yeah.
If I ever host open missions (I usually just play private lobby with my buddy) I always ask Randoms who have it on to change it, just a horrible version of stamina enhancement but if I'm not hosting and I join a mission with someone using it I cant complain cause I'm not the host
Dead Sprint is great but it pretty much requires Vitality and it's best taken when your entire squad is in on the idea of taking it...
Yeah it is. End of discussion
Yes. Dead Sprint sucks.
People swear by it, I hate it personally.
it can sometimes be useful like when you have a hulk scorcher up your ass, but the thing about it is that if someone has it then you dont have one of the other useful boosters.
Idc for it but its better than firebomb hellpods
Anything is better than firebomb hellpods
I personally hate Dead Sprint. I won't be an asshole to someone using it but I will probably leave lol
I mean I hate it, but that’s still an overreaction
Stim pistol user's dream
Its damage without consent.
I CHOOSE to take on a fight that will kill me, thats my fault. I CHOOSE to run towards the red light on the ground that says 380mm barrage.
I didnt CHOOSE to a) not realize someone grabbed it in the loadout or, B) have someone drop in using it without any way for me to know.
Its not that its bad (in some people's opinion) its that it is too niche for any casual player to ever want to see it in use.
Yes, yes it is
Its really anoying unless you agreed to it before the mission.
No it is not, helldivers just start going crazy when they see damage ticks... Dead Sprint is awesome (as long as you have health booster)
NGL if you have vitality booster it's not that bad,but honestly I still find myself trying to avoid activating dead sprint
i hate dead sprint but i would never do something like that
The ampunt of times I was so confused why i am suddenly losing health for no apparent reason, panicking, stimming thinking i got bleed bug etc. In general you dont take it unless you want to farm sc with someone, so you get perma sprint.
The health drain is negligible if anybody else on the team has vitality, and someone always does. It's barely even there. People just like to bitch.
It's the only booster that makes me leave a lobby
Fuck dead sprint
This game is literally the same thing over n over. I welcome anyone that wants to use any stratagem to keep it interesting
I tend to kick people who selects it, yes.
In a shooter, anything that drains health = bad.
Supply diver here with vitality booster. It absolutely rocks on blitzes
Unpopular opinion but dead sprint is very good, but with Vitality booster. Its pratically infinite stamina and our squad loves to run it with bugs.
There is no possible situation in which dead sprint is a good thing to have.
Shit should award you more medals for being in a mission with it active
