Would probably not recommend it on normal missions but just played with a guy on a D10 squid defense mission and he had an insane amount of kills

He basically stopped the invasion by himsel with reinforcements being 80% killed by the airburst rocket and 80% of the remained getting zapped or toasted while wandering headlessly through the gas. And the re-arm was ridiculously fast.

The other 3 just did anti-harvester and occasional stragglers (mostly meatbobs)

  • I mean I can’t get mad at someone who’s name is literally “minefield man” ya kinda know what your getting after that

I knew it! Moons aren't made of cheese, they just have holes in them cause Minefield Man was deployed there at some point in history. Or wait.. what if all moons ARE cheese, but only some have holes and those are high grade moons- but then what if someone invested in moons and wanted to secretly turn a low value moon into a high value moon to sell forward and paid Minefield Man to do it- by Lady Liberty someone get me my shoe box of red string!

I will NOT share my Red String, it was very hard to loan from a Truth Enforcer.

Im pretty sure i dived with this diver. It was a evac citizens mission. The rest of the team were doing the side objectives and everything else then we were going to do the evac citizens part. This guy sat at the evac citizens spot the entire game spamming all the Mines. It was crazy

I like this man. Maybe he'd like to hang out in my minefield.

(I may like using mines too much)

  • I've seen great airburst player once. We are crossing map, I see patrol, ping it and guy just oneshots entire patrol. Every single one.

I happily kept putting ammo into his backpack :D

Yeah, they're pretty useful on ground infantry.

It can one-shot Chargers as well.

Didnt even know that was possible, the only thing I kill is myself whenever I try to.

Aim for below the butt. Also works from the front.

You can also aim on the ground under it. Same goes for hulks. Also beneficial is aiming at a wall or rock directly behind them - oneshots tanks and hulks very reliably

If you skip it off the ground in front of a charger prior to its burst you get a more favourable damage concentration.

Maybe that happens when I aim there? Not sure, but I think the below detonation alone a bit behind the head, without skipping, is sure death.

I learned to use the airburst when I decided it was only for “across a football field”. If the enemy is closer than an opposite sideline, you WILL blow yourself up.

It also oneshots Impalers from any angle.

I’m a big fan of the airburst. Standard loadout for me but requires trust from the squad to not incinerate them too

It might be the best weapon for keeping bot patrols from reinforcing.

There is always that one bot in the back that you don't have LOS on that reinforces, airburst RL kills it nearly every time.

Good airburst players are a rare breed, but by golly they must be powered by raw democratic justice. I hold a lot of respect for the ones that can eradicate entire hordes of enemies while never killing themselves or any allies.

as long as its nothing heavy its good

It actually is capable one one-shotting Chargers

And hulks if you get it underneath

Shoot just beside the hulk and it reliably takes them out, too.

Plus it's a little bit easier of a shot to make than aiming between the legs.

I think its the most reliable way to kill fleshmobs too. Can kill 2 with one shot if they are close enough.

It can one shot all not tall enemies and warstriders. Everything else and it dies in 1 shot. (Chargers, impalers, hulks, tanks,)

It can KO Factory Striders, if you can manage the shot.

I mean if you aim for the heavy it one tapping it and everything near

All Heavies can be killed except by SuperHeavies (and the annoying Warstrider)

That might be me. I love airburst surgery. I’ve definitely had people avoid me, then supply pack me after I didn’t shred us all to pieces

Yeah it’s either they are amazing or they kill you multiple time. No middle ground

Objection: I will kill you only once (maybe twice if I’m particularly stupid that day). I’ll often off myself if I’m getting swarmed and it’s hopeless (FUCK HUNTERS) or, again, if I use it like a dumbass. Otherwise I’m alright with it.

Does wonders on illuminate and surprisingly effective against Bots. Defense missions especially: on any front, this thing is the ultimate “fuck off” button just below an outright broken arrow option when it’s utterly hopeless (hellbomb, lazer, missile).

4 people with air burst ans mines on defense bring get off my lawn energy

  • I honestly prefer people bring the gas mines over the incendiary or anti personnel mines. At least when you stumble onto the gas mines you have a better chance at survival. Mines and Tesla are amazing on defense so I don’t begrudge anyone bringing them to hold the line.

So I didn't know this till recently but AT mines actually don't trigger when divers walk over them it has to actually be something heavy enough.

I mean they can still be shot and some other odd ways but they can fairly effectively be used near the main hub on something like the platinum bars missions and such.

There was a bug with them that certain primary/secondary weapons were incorrectly tagged as being heavy enough to detonate them.

Led to weird situations where you'd run across a whole AT minefield fine, then swap weapons and suddenly die and have no idea why.

So people became very wary of them or assumed it was a time thing or something.

I don't think it was the guns but mags that set them off, reloading and if mag fell on AT mine it would set it off.

The downside to bringing them on 40-minute bot missions is that they can go off if the bots' shots connect with them.

Source: had to run through an AT minefield set up at a chokepoint while under fire once. It didn't go so well.

I have had teammates shoot my AT mines and blow themselves up before…

I didn't say they couldn't be activated through the other usual suspects lol. Just not basic infantry walking on them

I used to blast those to fast travel to objectives while wearing blast resist heavy armor.

I could walk for 3 minutes or fly for 10 seconds while saluting lady liberty to reduce fall damage.

Still works to a lesser degree

(Before frv came out, now I just take the car, but the temptation is too strong when I see those gas ball plants

I’m pretty sure the AT mines killed divers on release when they were first added. It scared a lot of divers out of using them.

But here is another tip, gas mines can set off AT mines. I'm a menace

  • This guy is a holy man. A true believer of Democracy.

For he offers salvation to.... The masses.

The Unenlightened Masses cannot make the Judgement call but they can and oh boi does it frag

  • I cant sing the ABRL's praises enough. obliterates literally every type of bug except bile titans and hive lords, and against squids it easily deals with the enormous chaff spam they send your way.

Most people hate it because "boohoo i got teamkilled by one once" though that goes for about everything in this guy's stratagem loadout.

Same it's easily my favourite support weapon for bugs. If i'm solo it's less fun because it forces me to run ultimatum and thermites every time for anti-armour BUT with a squad of mates who can cover that role it's a BLAST for the sheer amount of killstreaks you can pull off

I've been experimenting with EATs when I run a non-AT backpack support weapon. Occasionally you'll get into a tight spot and it's tricky retrieving your other weapon, but mostly it's been working great.

EAT’s pod is also a third AT option on super short cooldown. I love sticking the beacon to a charger’s head.

It might just be one of the best stratagems in the game for its utility, support, and generally being a great weapon — especially after terminal upgrades.

It's the orbital Airburst you gotta watch out for. Thing comes in without warning and lasts longer than you expect. 3/4 of my squad got wiped out by someone using it, the other day. 2 of them by one, me by another while I was trying to clear an encampment

I actually prefer orbital Airburst to gatling, I toss it into a large bot base and it shitclears for me

I think a lot of people are also traumatised by the release airburst.

The detonation was triggered by proximity.

Proximity to what, you might ask.

To enemies, to enemy corpses, to Helldivers. To Helldivers corpses. Ammo packs. Supply packs. Shrubbery. Dropped weapons.

As you can see, I listed most things that are in the game.

Which meant, firing the thing usually meant it exploded as soon as it reached enough distance to detonate. Which still meant it killed the one holding the weapon and everyone around them.

Of course, some players gaslit and claimed it was user error. Until Devs said that yea, the rocket is triggered by pretty much everything and changed it

There is legitimate issue with ABRL (also present with all other weapons but most annoying with ABRL specifically) if you are a client: the enemy corpses' hitboxes get desynced from the corpse positions, and often you end up hitting the invisible hitboxes in intense combat scenarios and detonating the entire warhead prematurely.

On platinum missions, this hitbox desync causing team kills is the single thing preventing ABRL from being one of the best picks for the fire support role.

Agreed, and if you understand how to use the cluster mode properly, you don't end up with premature detonation, so it's no more dangerous than any other strategem.

  • Oh thats my load out too vs squids (defense asset)

    • Cluster mode when so many corpse blocking. Aim high (preferably when the ship hovering, beaming down the squids)

    • Flak mode: no corpse nearby, you are safe to shoot.

    • If saw somebody carrying ABRL, don’t stand close near the entrance or platform between the two gates in Defense Asset

may I ask how many kills do you usually get? and where do place tesla tower?

On D10, easily 600+, if you spread your mines equally around the perimeter. Tesla just before entrance

Enemy Dropzone area (Mines zones) // Tesla // Gate Entrance

I concur with what was previously said

You can get north of 500 kills with the airburst on pretty much every front. The limiting factor is the map layout.

Maps that are very obstructed and have poor LoS prevents you from using the airburst effectively.

Maps that are very open and have long LoS is where this weapon shine (and quite frankly, dominates)

View it as a long range explosive sniper rifle.

  • Despite popular opinion on this sub, mines and clusters are actually fine - it's just that some people suck at positioning them and a lot more refuse to acknowledge that their situational awareness is completely nonexistent. People are oblivious as hell to what's going on around them.

They're pretty effective when you place them well and your teammates are actually paying attention to their surroundings.

Really useful when placing between a bug breach and your team.

As long as your teammate has one half of a braincell(not me) and doesnt run directly towards the breach to start fighting it

Or throw down orbital on the minefield.

    Hear, hear.

I especially love the AT-mines. The slap and is a really safe pick since Helldivers dont set them off, unless they slam their forehead against it. I'm not kidding. Don't.

Yeah my first thought after seeing the image was “This must be for a defense mission”. On D10 most of the time I see mines and well-placed Tesla towered (although I find them annoying), and airburst is great if you know what you’re doing. At that level most players just pick a spot and cover their area.

tell me about it. I once had two genius hell divers dive into the same minefield that was placed 10 minutes earlier, not kidding you. 8 times. And then they dare tilt at me

I’ll be honest bro, I’m not going to remember the exact location of a minefield 10 minutes after it was placed and in the heat of combat

you can see the mines lol

and that's fine. Funny thing was though, the minefield was placed there while they were somewhere else, it was out of our way on extract, for some godforsaken reason both muppets decided to stroll into it instead of going for extract, and then kept dying to it.

  • Airburst secretly being S tier on every front is still surprising me.

I swear, 99% of divers sleep on this.

My squaddies have forbid me to use this. Not my fault they don’t listen when I say danger close.

It’s a brilliant weapon, it just should require a license to operate and that week were it was free to be called in by anyone at anytime was the worst week in living memory on the game

  • No one listens to me when I tell them to take all mines for eradication missions and then I get all of the kills while sitting in a corner

Me and a buddy go full mines on eradication. Just sit back and watch bots/bug blow up.

Yes this is the easiest thing. It works on evacuation defense missions too just not against illuminate too many elevated overseers just flying over the walls.

I managed to convert my buddies to the "Oops, all mines" loadouts on extermination. They look forward to it now.

  • This is basically my defense mission load out, except I use EATs so everyone has AT whenever needed.

And yeah, it slaps. I've had missions with 4x everyone else's kills, and nobody died.

If anyone else brings mines, it just gets better.

A pile of EATs on defensive missions is often my Loadout, and it always goes like this:

Mission starts: "Hey guys, use those EATs as much as you want."

Halfway thru: "Those EATs are free to use."

Shxt hits the fan: "Use the EATs!"

Then everyone does, and all the threat goes away because a dozen AT rounds just went off in 4 seconds.

All mines on d10 defense missions means you literally don’t have to shoot your gun

I’ll throw down mines, stand outside the walls next to bug breaches, and lay there. Not a single bug survives long enough to attack me.

That mission plays itself no matter your loadout, but mines means you can stand at extract fiddling your thumbs for 8 minutes.

I actually thought this was the established meta since most of my random teams go all sentry if not all mines

  • In the right hands that loadout can be good. Unfortunately the vast majority of the players are, the wrong hands.

  • It is a great loadout for defence.

It is ok loadout for the regular mission - I tried the same. Just mark mines and use them wisely. Say place in on the enemies way (say during little defence missions with that rig and drilling). Also mark them and write to the chat - because people usually don'y see a lot of bright lights on the ground and they will blame you :)

When I play each mission I observe - if a person has mines I see exactly where they put them, I write to the chat and mark the place (instead of that person). I actually notice every player stratagem and sometimes even quick look at who exactly threw that eagle cluster bombs :)

  • Might have to try that next squid defense mission I do. I'm partial to the HMG emplacement, AT emplacement, and grenadier battlement for defense in general but I guess the ABRL lets you bring the fight if needed, and there are usually ample resupplies to top off the rocket launcher backpack

Emplacements are awesome until they bounce. So many good spots wasted because of a fucking bounce

  • There are many factors that make the ABRL great on illuminate defense missions such as low armour and concentrated spawns.

The mines are probably superfluous though.

  • On defense missions this load out slaps.

  • If it's a defense mission or very good player keeping distance from the team

They will definitely outperform the average d10 player.

The issue is you don't know if they're trolling or a VERY good player, until 3min into the mission.

  • Thats a great loadout for defense. Whats your problem?

  • how many kills did he get in the end screen? which map was it (wide open field/narrow canyon/city)? did any of you and other guys bring shooting sentries?

He got about 800. It was the map with with an open outfield and two entrances. The one like “half a medieval castle”. He was standing on the elevated platform in the middle.

Yes, others had some sentries, HMG and AC as well. I’m not saying the we were completely useless 😆.

  • ARBL are goat on bot front. The faster you eliminate patrols and drops on d10, the easier you clear out the big guys instead of being shot from every directions.

  • Honestly, those stratagems, I I can get behind...

But that f*cking booster, I hate it... I really do hate it...

  • Depends on the user

  • Anti-Social Loadout.

  • Kills patrols easily. Even your own

  • gas mines dont really teamkill

  • double mines is unironically very good. it’s main drawback is idiots running into your mines. (I’m idiots)

  • On a defense mission? Genius because most enemy forces will get taken out by the mines and tower while the airburst mops up the rest

  • Code name cluster fuck

Funny, that's the name I give to a similar loadout...

    Stratagens:

    • Eagle clusters

    • Orbital Airburst

    • RL-77

    • EAT-700

    Kit:

    • R-36

    • GP-31/GP-20

    • G-7 Pinapple

    • Martyrdom armour

My friends love me, yet they love it more when we all equip it on the Illuminate front.

  • Very effective, although this probably wants comms with your team. I dig it, although you might be able to switch out incendiary mines for NEATs depending on your liking

  • AIDS. Not cancer.

  • Perfect for a squid defense mission.

  • Especially with the Christmas noobs, this is an awful load out. I've had new people shoot air burst at an enemy right next to me multiple times in a mission and drop mines and tesla at a defensive position we're currently on. No bueno.

  • My loadout verbatim. I swap the tesla for anti tank emplacement for harvesters and stinrays.Thr key to airburst is to know when to switch between flak and cluster and to never shoot the tesla witb airburst and let it do its thing

  • as a child, I yearned for the mines

  • Lol my partner would bring this loadout to a defense mission. It does work. Mines are excellent at EHVA missions.

  • Very niche but effective with the correct player. Also I’d hate to be a SEAF troop around that guy.

  • "Trust Me" set.

  • My mate plays that exact load out and tbf it’s not awful If you’re no where near nor planning on going where the enemy is

  • I do level 10 eradicate missions on bugs with my squad, we all bring only mines. Its the most comical and chaotic way to complete the mission.

  • Things like the tesla tower is is really 50/50 easy to set up right and easy to set up wrong if you put it around a corner and your team mate runs into it. Thats on you. You put it in the open. Its all on them

Mines i dont have much experience.

Airbrush can be good in the right hands

  • One of my favorite loadouts on bugs as of this moment is Wasp launcher, tesla, mortar, and dealers choice. Sometimes I take rocket sentry other times it take 500kg or precision strike. I typically take an AT option since most of the rest of the kit is more or less for chaff. Still doesnt stop me from dumping full wasp salvos into titans or even chargers it wont kill a titan but it will chew it up for an easy take down, and it sometime kills chargers, does decent against impalers also.

  • Well i think thats a great loadout. Gas mines are very powerful for that cooldown, airburst mulches patrols and Tesla is likely the strongest sentry in a good position. And all these work together. I would leave the fire mines for some punchy red strat, eagle or Orbital depending what others are bringin.

  • Genius if they know what they're doing, especially if this is a defense mission.

  • The loadout is great for Illuminate. I personally go with a variant of Napalm EAT, Airburst, and machine gun for Squid defense. The last slot is variable, but often EATs for allies to deal with the harvesters / Leviathans. My experience is that you can one tap drops well enough with Napalm EAT and Airburst, especially when you get to the point of getting a second airburst. When I had mines, teammates just shot them / used orbitals to destroy them before they had a massive impact.

I usually get around 600-800 kills per squid defend mission, and it feels less boring than turret spam / mine spam that seems to be the D10 meta.

  • Genuis if you coordinate with your team and actually know how to use these

  • genius troll

  • Airburst on illuminate is underutilized. As soon as a drop ship teleports in an enemy squad. One shot delete

  • Outside of the airburst this is a fairly common defence load out

  • Crowd control god

  • This with an ultimatum, seeker grenades and either a flame or explosive primary and your set

  • Yes! My second favorite loadout for eradicate missions!

  • The team won't have to worry about trash enemies that's for sure.

Just watch where you walk lol

  • Depending on how it’s used it’s perfectly capable to killing dozens… but also the user and the squad just as easily

  • Depending on what mission.

But he sure has areal denial, so I will let gim do his thing

  • Mines are the best way through defense missions

  • on defence yeah thats a pretty good loadout but i woulnt trust anyone running this on a standard mission

  • Did they ever fix that bug where sometimes mines were invisible to other players?

  • In the right hands, Genius.

    In the wrong hands, Casualties.

  • Yeah i use double mine field on bugs and squid in defense. Looks like Christmas lights!! It isnt as effective when some dumbass keeps using orbital barrage and destroying all the mines.

  • I soloed D10 predator strain once with this loadout, except with the orbital 120 barrage over the flame mines. It’s really strong.

  • I haven’t seen anyone say this yet, but the Tesla tower has a cool interaction with mines. If you place it correctly and n the mines it causes MASS DESTRUCTION. and it works perfectly. If you don’t walk into it…

  • Airburst is severely underrated, it’s capable of killing patrols instantly, nuking everything but factory striders and bile titans. The Tesla tower is also underrated, capable of shredding drops/breaches, just general chaff/mediums it’s just that people hate it because they don’t dive or stay away. Mines are a bit of an iffier pick but on the illuminate or bugs they do some work

  • Is it a troll. No. Not on squids were most there arsenal can be held off with a landmine setup. The cluster too works well. If this was....say bots. Id wince a bit. But on squids. You'll be fine as long as he knows what he's doing

  • Simple, pick a direction, tell your fellow helldivers not to go there, obliterate anything that steps in your FOV in that direction.

  • It's a defense, there is nothing better than fire and gas mines, while having a good line of sight for clasters, brother even brought a turret pods, I'd say he's dedicated to win for sure.

  • It's one of the best Defense loadouts. I almost always use it, except I usually pick the WASP (on Squids) or the AT Emplacement (on Bots) instead of airburst.

  • He's incredibly based

  • Hould have the inferno drop pods smh

  • This is actually the loadout I love to run on squid defense and yes it is insanely powerful.

  • I saw this yesterday in a quick play defense mission. D9 and the three randos I joined had all that except for the airburst rockets. The spam and kills were insane I think we had one death and that was from him being ragdolled into the minefield.

  • Peak load out for defence against all factions actually orbit is a beast on defence cause no one is downrange

  • Great for defending missions and extracting those VIPs.

  • You can take pretty much any loadout and get ridiculous amounts of kills since everything is effective against anything the squids have

  • Go to hell

  • Scrap gas mines bring shock drone or fire drone

  • Yea this is good for defense lol airburst always good tesla pretty solid when you throw away from your group

  • On a defend the outpost until 8 rockets launch, especially against illuminated, this might even be optimal

  • That is the tradeoff with these load-outs. Things like Tesla kill things real good, but nothing in this game discriminates between friend and foe.

  • It's alright, as long as you know how to use the ABRL and please the mines and Tesla turret BEHIND of or the SIDE of you and better yet, mark it!

They are area denial and defensive.

However, if your come up with anti personnel mines, you'll be kicked for my game lol.

  • Mines are insanely good against medium unit spam.
Did a squid defense mission with me and two of my brothers taking Gas-&Firemines. You lay both of them in the same area.
One of us took anti personnel mines to „quick fix“ holes, another took the rocket turret as our backup, and one took the anti tank emplacement. Each of us had the Gatling turret. One of the easiest defense missions I ever did.
A possible fourth diver should take the Heavy MG emplacement as his third strategem to finish this build.
You kill every voteless with mines. Have multiple fields of overlapping fire with the Gatling turrets. You can take your primaries to deal with flying overseers (I heard that the new accelerator is goated for that).
Combine that with more grenade armor and one diver gas grenades, another impact incendiary, another frag grenades(the guy on the anti tank emplacement) and a possible fourth diver taking dynamite or thermite for harvesters and you have a super strong setup!

  • Playing only mines/Tesla is so fun, started doing that with friends and it Made the defensive missons way more fun

  • On squids it can absolutely work. Area denial is important and being able to shut down entire streets with a well placed minefield can do wonders.

And airburst is able to kill everything the squids have given some good aim, luck and enough shots.

    Overall 7/10

  • either the best player you’ve ever seen or he’ll be getting himself and you killed more than the enemies

didn’t read the description and yeah it makes sense honestly

  • I would lone wolf just to avoid you, but somehow I anticipate that you’ll find a way to team kill me.

  • It's good for area denial but not more mobile missions

  • The "You Shall Not Pass" build, aka "The Gandolf"

  • This on evacuate high value assets is the perfect load out

  • Absolute cinema that match

  • It's the stop the chaff loadout.

  • This works. Not a troll because this guy doesn't use ordinary mines. 3 strats focusing on sustained area denial, with additional booster turrets even. Sure there is no AT, but teammates should handle that if this guy gets so dedicated.

And in squid defense missions? This gets more legit, squids don't have proper tank level heavies.

  • Damn sure nothing's coming from that direction

  • Those defense missionas are the only time I would consider a Tesla tower. Thats also the only time I use mines. Lately I've been going heavy on the sentries, but I've been caught with no sentries on the map and all of them on cool down. The mines come back up relatively quickly

  • Mines seem to have a gravitational pull that only affects my teammates

  • Replace the incendiary mines with anti-tank ones, and it would be a solid build.

  • C-001 permit rejected

  • Oh it works. Once ran all mines with my entire team and it kind of worked. We ended up losing or couldn’t extract. But this can work, he’s the ultimate bug breach holder.

  • Swap the air burst with the arc dog and its perfect.

  • solid defensive loadout, another of those amd two that are turret focused, one of them (or both) bringing an anti tank chair...chefs kiss

  • Airburst is slept on so hard, always been a user. Can clear waves of bots with one cluster rocket plus destroy bases when aimed right.

    Top tier

  • As with all loadouts....it's how you play them.

  • Honestly an A+ defense load out. He even brought the slept on booster. I'd be mad if no one followed his lead, a squad with 8-12 mine strats trivializes defense missions.

  • Godsend for anyone who knows to pay attention. Area denial at its finest

  • Honestly used that load out before its so fun.

  • Oh. That’s something I need to try.

But useless. Cooldowns are too long.

  • Slowed by gas and shock, burned to a crisp while airburst smacks them. I like it.

  • God tier load out

  • Was gonna say, on defense, this is turning that place into Fort Knox by yourself. With a squad?

Congratulations, you’ve made the Super Earth equivalent of the Walls of Constantinople. You’re golden!

…the fuck you mean they brought a starship on land, that’s impossible.

  • Yeah for a defense mission that loadout is insane. For a regular 40 minute mission imma kick somebody using that. They'll get more teamkills than actual kills regardless of faction.

  • Every time someone brings gas mines on a defence mission they always place them too close to the team, so either...

A: Teammates start dying to them (friendly fire) B: We can't move around the base properly without setting them off because the whole place is booby trapped. We have to hang further back, letting the enemy gain on us. C: Enemy chaff sets them off and now heavier units have a "smoke screen" to conceal their advancement D: All of the above

Please. Please for the love of liberty stop dropping mines on your teammates position.

  • Airburst can take out a Hulk in D10.

Aim behind the hulk at the vents and its usually a one shot.

If the hulk is facing you, your second shot at the ground behind it will usually kill it if the first one didn't.

Its also super great at making patrols turn into dust

  • Ah yes the "kick me" loadout

  • That's a great squid loadout. Bugs too, really. You could 100% make that a good build for bits too. So yeah! Good build. I'd be more communicative with my team with a loadout like this though. Pointing out where stuff is and doing my best to be aware of the "flow" of our current situation. Try to put mines between or behind, avoid on or in front lol

  • “I really hate chaves.”
