Way back in the days when mechs were first added in, we found out that my buddies could ride the shoulders by diving off ledges. They'd bring flamethrowers to help cover me while I taxied them around laying waste to nests.
It didn't work really well but certainly looked cool!
I've been there, I sight with my best I'm not mad, just disappointed dad voice(Daddivers unite!), block them if they're a dick and move on. At the end of the day, I can't control how other people choose to react, but I can control mine.
I had a diver bringing triple mines and a mortar to the platinum heist mission. He exclusively used them on the objective and had the combination of 8 friendly kills(not including ragdoll caused by mortar)
I do that all the time when I'm running the arc dog. I only ever take him out during firefights when I'm behind cover or running around solo. Can't say the same for everyone else who runs one though.
Iāve been goofing around with all arc loadouts, and nothing makes me mash the āgo to sleepā button like seeing the guard dog turn 180 degrees while im fighting a breach.
Right? I gotta keep it docked 80% of the time, but when I can let it out? Absolutely worth the stratagem slot. Keeps hordes off me better than my teammates ever could so I can effectively anti tank.
Same if I know teammates are playing around me it stays on my back and I just use my arc thrower. If Iām leading the pack or Iām alone I let it loose.
It does, but you can also do it manually. Doing so reloads gun dogs, and stops all dogs from giving away your position, because they greatly effect stealth and will give your position away immediately to enemies.
I do this with laser dog when too many people get around me, or they run forward at the bugs too much. Ive sliced one person in half and burned another. So far only two tks in ~30 drops with it.
I mean, the lazer is more likely to hit you, but it is no wear near as lethal, the lazer dog sweeps you, you get set on fire, you dive, you stim, your fine... if the arc dog hits you, you're just dead, instantly, without arc armor.
I find myself team killing with it very infrequently and I run it a lot on all factions
Whenever the situation calls for it I just put it on time out and when it's out I try to remain between the enemy and my teammates and overall keep an eye on them
What ends up happening in the few team kills I do get is people who seemingly pretend it doesn't exist running aimlessly face first into the enemy and in front of me or basically trying to use the prongs as a back scratcher when I'm holding ground
Ngl, never got a team kill with De-Escalator. Switched from Arc Thrower to it and loving the results, just follow basic firearm safety and you're golden
My buddy unlocked it two weeks ago and it's been non stop team kills since. I try to fight a safe distance away from him but then he thinks I'm in trouble and tries to "help".
If it's illuminate front you better not be standing near any enemy, because I'm packing arc dog, de-escalator, seeker granades gatling and orbital lazor.
I genuinely don't even know what the hell the niche of the Eagle Cluster Bombs is supposed to be.
It really feels like it carries extra teamkilling potential without any extra potential for killing enemies.
I feel like you can get similar enemy kills with Strafing Run, Airstrike, or even Napalm but they all are much less dangerous to your allies.
It's as if the Cluster Bombs is only good when there's a horizontal line of soft enemies like 100 meters long, and since when does that happen? Most of the time the enemies are in a vertical line or a ball, which can all be erased by Strafing Run or Airstrike instead, and neither will accidentally kill a diver that was 50+ meters to the left of you.
Cluster Bomb at this point seems to mostly be for visual joy. It makes big explosions and you can use it a lot.
Does a good job of killing large amounts of chaff.
Tossing them into bug breaches and overrun heavy nests is fun.
I find them to be somewhat useful if you're running a build that is very AT-focused in most of your stratagems, but you'd still like the ability to wipe out a lot of chaff in a short window of time.
Eagle cluster is my go to for voteless and bug chaff. Regularly get 30+ kills against patrols and breaches with a single strike. Plus you get 5 before rearm.
I take no responsibility when my cluster bomb kills teammates, it's their fault for constantly running into crowds of enemies in the distance the second that ball leaves my hand.
How I feel mechdiving these days
It's a several thousand pound war machine... Stop running in front of it!!
Just standing next to it will get you hurt though. The stomping hitbox on the mechs is massive
Ive had a few bold divers jetpack on top of my mech and lay seige while I walk around killing, I actually love it, more guns!
Way back in the days when mechs were first added in, we found out that my buddies could ride the shoulders by diving off ledges. They'd bring flamethrowers to help cover me while I taxied them around laying waste to nests.
It didn't work really well but certainly looked cool!
One guy brings the hot dog, the other the gas dog. Literal walking apocalypse.
What's even better is I'll bring the maxigun with me for when the mech is either destroyed or runs out of ammo, really put that title to use!
YES.
Which is great when you are wading through the voteless hordes.
Rules when an ally has a mech
1) Give it a wide bearth! 2) Stay behind them 3) Watch their back (Optional and appreciated)
Rules for the mech driver: don't walk backwards
Thank you!!
Yes!!
I was going full throttle with the maxigun at a hoard of Voteless yesterday.
Same person ran into the lead stream not once, but twice.
You know how often I get blown up for someone accidentally walking in front of the mech? I call them in too and they still blow me up š
I've been there, I sight with my best I'm not mad, just disappointed dad voice(Daddivers unite!), block them if they're a dick and move on. At the end of the day, I can't control how other people choose to react, but I can control mine.
"DON'T TELL US WHAT TO DO"
This! So much this. Why, why the fuck do people run in front of the mechs?!Ā
You have to understand, helldivers love throwing themselves at things thatāll kill them, for example: tesla towers.
Also, mech drivers pay attention! I pick martyr armor so when an inattentive mech diver keeps stepping on me his mech is going bye bye.
What?
Think they mean kills by friendly fire
Ohhhh
I had a diver bringing triple mines and a mortar to the platinum heist mission. He exclusively used them on the objective and had the combination of 8 friendly kills(not including ragdoll caused by mortar)
Was it the fabled minefield man?
Arc dog is surprisingly easy to not TK with. It's the laser dog you need to worry about
In theory, you can spare your team mates from the Arc dog's TK wrath by backpack docking it.
In practice, I have personally yet to see that happen.
I do that all the time when I'm running the arc dog. I only ever take him out during firefights when I'm behind cover or running around solo. Can't say the same for everyone else who runs one though.
you are a saint and a hero.
How do you manually send it to the backpack?
Same button to take supplies from the supply pack. 5 on PC, idk on console.
Dpad down.
Does this auto-refill the ammo?
Like if I'm out of combat can I top off my dawg's ammo?
I think it only reloads the guard dog? The one with the lib pen.
Is that what gun it has?
That bro was mowing down illuminates and got way more kills than I did. I was in awe the first mission I took him to lol.
Yeah but it makes sense since it basically has no recoil and almost only gets headshots
Yes;but only for machine gun dawg.
Tap down on d pad (PS5.)

I doubt many people even know you can "holster" the doggys.
Yeah I didnt know this what button do I need to press
The backpack activation button. The one you press for the resupplypack and hellbomb backpack.
down on d-pad
Been playing consistently since launch and Iām just learning this.
You can do that? I thought it just comes out on its own when it wants and auto docks to reload/recharge. You can put dogs away?
It does, but you can also do it manually. Doing so reloads gun dogs, and stops all dogs from giving away your position, because they greatly effect stealth and will give your position away immediately to enemies.
Down on d-pad by default.
ill have to figure out the keyboard command I guess

I do it all the time.
It always surprises me that hotdog is also a very good boy and doesnāt TK
I've seen a hot dog tk all 3 of my teammates at the same time.

This.
Hot Dog TK's: Minimal
Teammate suicide plays into swaths of flame: Abundant
I try man. I really try
But Arc Dog always seems more interested in killing anything not infront of me that is already being taken care of by my team mate.
I know it just wants it wants to help but it's always never focused where I want it.
I think deadly to least deadly:arc, flame, laser and machine gun dog.
Ngl, never got a team kill with De-Escalator. Switched from Arc Thrower to it and loving the results, just follow basic firearm safety and you're golden
Sir, do you know what it is that we do here?

FREEDOM!!!!
I blow myself up with it a lot more than I blow up teammates, ngl.
My buddy unlocked it two weeks ago and it's been non stop team kills since. I try to fight a safe distance away from him but then he thinks I'm in trouble and tries to "help".
Incomprehensible, have a nice day

Weāre all channeling our inner caboose here
Best series ever
...? i sure hope you got more kills then the bugs? one helldiver sould at least kill 2 things before death
Friendly fire
If it's illuminate front you better not be standing near any enemy, because I'm packing arc dog, de-escalator, seeker granades gatling and orbital lazor.
Accept my hug emote!
Enter the rookie packing 380
Yup, that about sums it upā¦

The cluster bomb is a casualty to all of the health and durability buffs the enemies received. One cluster bomb used to get like 30 kills

Jesus Christ nobody knows how to use cluster bombs. If you bring it you're going to TK.
More like if I bring any kind of Eagle, the beacon attracts the idiots that dropped in because I accidently threw an sos instead of reinforce.
That needs to be a feature I can turn off. If I wanted Randoms I'd play with randoms.
