Joel had mercy. He probably didn't take the Planet's total HP and how increasing the residence by just 1% would affect that when he sent them to Mox and K in the first place.
Narratievely, lets just say the bombardment form the DSS forced them to retreat.
The fact that resistance is relative gives the wrong impression about planetary resistance. 1% on magma planet is the same as 2% on normal planet, that is, in addition to longer campaign.
JOEL wants the story to advance, so he let the Incineration Corp depart.
I hope I get to shoot more Dissidents, now that we know they have a part in the story.
Oh is that actually it? I know when they have those subfaction fleets invading worlds it's often a set force strength and if we defeat enough of them they stop, but that's usually across several defences.
Was this slow attack of ours across the Magma worlds enough to deplete this fleet?
Hard to say for sure, but when the other incineration brigade group attacked Varylia, they were only a level 28 (I think) invasion instead of the 40-50 these special groups usually start off at. We'd been beating them up on that planet for a while already, so perhaps Joel really is having them lose strength the longer we're grinding against these planets, even on offense instead of the usual defense.
IIRC it’s only the Jet Brigade that functions like that because they’re, well, only a single Brigade (though, weirdly Automatons military units seem to be much larger than their real-world equivalents). They assemble a massive force and then blitz as many planets as they can.
The Incineration Corps has always been a much larger sub-faction, so there’s likely a reason as to why they fell back.
It's clearly because we're already on the do-over MO for not taking the magma planets and people don't like incineration corp (mostly the shotgun dev).
Combined with war striders still existing as they do and people just don't find bot front that fun anymore.

We killed so many of these fuckers that they left

Just speculation, but that’s probably the in lore reason, or they are planning something
Worst case scenario: they have all the resources they need from the planet and have no reason to stay
Platinum is highly resistant to heat... The Incendiary Corps uses fire weapons.

It's space D&D we just gotta roll with it

It was revealed to me in a dream
Well, they're at Martale now so...
Charon Prime now...
Get ready to fail a quadruple gambit
With so many days left on the MO and the objective being to hold those planets, they were always going to throw something at us I suppose.
Invading Charbal now
They saw that DSS almost has the liberation speed buff ready and got DSS flashbacks
they are waiting for reinforcments
Oh crap rapid accusation is about to get much harder.
Gotta make my arguments quickly before i get overrun!
Overrun yet?
Luckily i managed to accuse them of comunism and tax evasion
Something's gonna get fucky, i just know it

I feel like this moment in the movie is actually a pretty apt choice, considering what might be coming at us soon
Guess they couldn't...
take the heat.
Ironic image cuz the Dragonroaches have returned

This is not pity, Joel is flanking us. Look at the supply lines, the Incineration Corps is circling around to attack either Fury or Valyria.
Even predators run when someone bigger approaches
Ngl I was soconfused when I checked the map as I’d just done an incineration mission then I queued into another and they were gone
AH: makes a bunch of new enemy variants
Also AH: doesn’t let the playerbase fight them
The incin corp is terrified of the dss after it wiped them out that one time.
