I don't know if this is intentional behavior from the boss or not, but he emerged under the seismic probe and then it just stayed glued to him the entire fight. Freedom was denied this day as our glorious solo helldiver could not ride the hive lord for the required time to input and sample the (fleshy?) geologic terrain it was covering.
If it was a bug in the coding, it was cool, if it was intended, also cool.

I think it’s somewhere between a bug and intended behavior.
It is specifically coded that if a hellpod lands on a hive lord, much like a factory strider, it stays in its body. Pretty cinematic way to deal decent damage.

Yeah would be interesting if the objective still completes if the Hive Lord takes the drill terminal halfway across the map and you kill it there so you can reach it.
Also what would the probe even be doing? You'd be getting worm data not soil data with it embedded in it

That objective is the hardest to finish.
It should be kept and the contingency should just be to recall objective equipment. To be honest, with objective terminal issues every so often, that should just be a standard
It can snag it from underground as well! It stole my gatling sentry once after it had already deployed. The worm did it’s rolling belly up/cat stretch animation, took it underground with it. Next time it popped back up that poor gatling sentry was spraying everywhere 😆

Tip for Hive Lord hunters! Landing a resupply pod on it will effectively give it a permanent marker on your map because the supply icons follow the position of the packages in the pod. So you'll be able to see the big bastard's position no matter how far away he is!
Does this also work for weapon pods like EAT?
I haven't tried but I imagine so! Should work with any pod whose contents gets marked on the map
I believe so. I've certainly had it work for a recoilless. I think most pod that have a marker work

I’ve seen two of these posts so we’re probably gonna have to start treating the hive lords as mandatory fights. I never saw this happen on oshaune so it’s pretty funny. Not a bad way to have to make you kill the hive lord
