They would only be seen on worlds like aurora bay, cyberstan, K, mox, fury aka factory and magma planets.
During the mission they go around a set of pre made rails that go trough every outpost and main objective locations. (side note: THEY DO NOT APPEAR ON BLITZ MISSIONS)
They would be armed with 4 attack wagons while having 6 over all with only 2 ways to take them down
- setting up special charges on the rails to destroy them for the train to get derail (easy way)
- taking out the train engine itself with it having 80k-90k hp (helldiver way)
Weapons they would be equiped with and layout of wagons:
Layout:
engine - armed wagon A- cargo wagon - armed wagon B- armed wagon C
Weapons:
wagon A: can spawn with either 2 AA guns or 2 mortar turrets.
wagon B: one of the turrets is always the factory strider cannon, other place can either have a tank turret or fusion casemates. (dual barrel turrets found on command bunkers)
wagon C: a platform that can spawn with a warstrider granade launcher pods or 2 shredder tank turrets.
(yes i am aware it would be a ragdoll spaming roach but you can clear its weapons from a distance and you wouldnt survive getting close to it anyway)
Objective part:
cargo wagon: as the name says will carry cargo which upon destruction of the train can be carried away by a pelican for extra XP points, to do that players would have to go to the stopped train disconnect the cargo cart from the rest and call in a cargo pelican after which you have to defend the area for 2 minutes.
engine: being the main part of the whole enemy having most of its armor be AP6 at 80k-90k hp might sound bad, but there will be a hatch on the back and the top (yes you can get on top of it while it stops at the fortress or any main obj area) which will be AP5 with only 13k hp, after breaking it it will reveal AP3 insides of the engine with the base pool of 80k-90k hp after draining that health pool as well engine will detach itself from the rest and will explode a short bit after.
If the train was derailed engine will start smoking and can still be destroyed but that wont be needed since the point is to stop it from moving and steal the cargo.

I think in practice this would feel like a reskinned Factory Strider Caravan objective except the option to blow up the tracks makes it too trivial to beat without confrontation.
you are aware that after its derailed it would still flood you with attacks? mortars would still attack, aa guns would block eagles, warstrider nade pods would try to scare and ragdoll you away same with factory strider cannon and dont forget the pin point accurate turrets that are normally found on the walls of command bunkers with shredder and regular tank turrets to top it off

Just make it circle the map and stop at certain places, which once destroyed it doesnt stop there anymore. What speed it travels at would be a balance issue. It having an objective on board that you need to secure would also be new and different. Especially if the train has something that calls reinforcements once it's stopped by the tracks blowing, or being attacking at a base or when it's destroyed even

I will do you one better "rescue SEAF Armored train" where you have to drop on a small map with one objective you need to regain control of seaf arnored train that was taken over by enemy forces after you take it you have to ride it untill you reach frindly positions. Eliminating enemies as you go by and trying to avoid main locomotive from taking too much dmg. The train would also have two segments (armored locomotive with canons and empy platform to lond hellpods on needless to say the train would be rather vide.

The bug hive worlds have caves, how about the Bots get mines and in those mines are train tracks, because the big stuff doesn't fit in there and they can't fly... depending on the size of the mine, this could be like a boss unit, but otherwise the train tracks could be used to move ore around and we could do like Indiana Jones roller coaster rides in there to get from point A to point B.
They have to build new maps to add train tracks for it anyway, might as well make it something actually new.

Not sure how feasible it is on the developer side, but a hover train would be amazing. instead of the conga line it's one, 5 car train that hovers 10ish feet off the ground that's similar to the conga line in that there's a stratagem jammer and a couple fabricators.
Love this idea. There should only be a couple of specific weak points for the rails somewhere random on the map so it's not too easy. Maybe add a wagon that has a factory on it that drops a squad of bots at each stop/base. Also a cargo wagon with goodies in it. Samples, supercredits, data, weapons, whatever.

There should be railroads that can spawn on maps that go from one end to the other of the whole mission area, they won't always have a train but there is a chance the enemy will be reinforced by an armored train and it can freely move back and forth on that track to attack you.

e.g. more wagons, more turrets that can be fired upon people on the train (maybe even two trains side by side cause fun to jump between ... or just make it wider ;-;), though I don't see how reinforcing/strategems would work, maybe no strategems (could be gear on train, or just no 3rd weapons) which would be unique, and reinforcing can basically be how it works if you're by a tall place, you can't really move and automatically land on the train. Then you have to fight to the top of the train and derail it/some hellbomb thing. And extraction? Well heroes don't come home.

Make them side objectives in the same way as a hive lord. They are a big problem that needs navigated around and it is actively trying to reach you. But the tracks could be incredibly limited, beginning off map and terminating at a point that would work with the procedural map generation. The trains could be infinitely spawned with the main objective being to blow a bridge or collapse a tunnel to cut them off.
thats the point rails are in every outpost and obj area the moment the game knows you are there you get enemy armored train is approaching and you can only get rid of it by blasting it for 10 min straight like a hive lord or by blowing a part of the rails with a special charge in a specific spot

Ideas: add an emergency stop either at stations or on the engine car as an option.
Also, add the ability to derail it (at set locations would probably be easiest from a dev perspective, preferably at a bridge or something so it dumps the cars down into a canyon).
One or more of the wagons would be a loot wagon with ammo, support weapons, and medals/req slips/SC piles
And finally, I do think we should be able to use it as transport pretty easily if we detach/destroy the weapon wagons or hack it. It would remind me a lot of the Holiday Express from Apex Legends, just a quick way to rotate the map if the timing works out or you make use of the stop feature at stations

I do you one better. A Mission where you deploy on the back of a Train, a BIG train, a moving train that you and your comrades have to maneuver through to the Front and stop it to call exfil. Basically something like ALTEISEN MK4

you would start by dropping in via hellpod, before the train gets there, you have 1 minute before the train arrives at a station, (arrives is a strong term, goes past is better) your job is to time the jump correctly to land on the top of the train, if you miss, the pelican picks you up and drops you at the back, or it would drop you off near one of the outposts its planned to go to,
you would need to fight your way to the head of the train, it will stop by outposts sometimes, where it would get re-filled, re-supplied and have more troops on it, if you dont take out the outpost or stop troops from entering for 2 minutes, it gets harder.
if the outpost is cleared out by the person dropped off near it, none of this would happen, and you get 2 minutes to rearm and resupply, which you would get anyway because it would be a medium outpost on most difficulties except d9 and d10, where its a heavy or even a fortress if you're unlucky
the train is really long, but your overall objective is to stop the train before it reaches its final destination, some sort of refueling station for the technically unseen automaton ship you can do this by either, damaging the train a ton, (it would take maybe a 8 hellbombs to do so, just so its atleast sort of a challenge and you cant just bring a ton of hellbomb backpacks, also the least feasable) or removing the main power source at the head of the train,
it would be a fairly large train, so if you were inside you would have enough room for cover and running, just so your not stuffed down a small corridor being shredded by 1 shield fucker
if you were on the top of the train, where the majority of the scouting troops would be, when reinforcements are called, it would instead alert one of the outposts its heading too, to be prepared for a battle,
it does not have to be the next stop however, it could be the last one,
you can also only call in the super destroyer 2 times per person, as it would have to keep up with a train consistently, and far enough forward for any barrage / orbital to hit if you die, you can call in reinforcements, which take a little longer and have to arrive via pelican, you would have to jump in from roughly where your team is, given there wouldnt be very many anti air emplacements on the train if you fail, a bar basically goes up that increases how fast the bots can invade planets, as the train was for refueling the clankers ships in a shipyard during the time when you can call in the super destroyer, you can reinforce normally, i really like this idea, but it absolutely needs some tweaking to be the best, any ideas are appreciated!!

the only issue is that those things have nothing to go on if someone blows up the tracks. maybe something similar could be the Crawler Tanks from Star Wars Umbara. They work similar to those trains, but they don't need tracks and simply go underground (yes we will truamatize bug players doing this but it would be cool) and jump out while firing rapidly in all directions from each segment.
the point is tracks would only be breakable via special charge which you would have to set up on a bridge for example its not as simple as "cave man throw 500kg cave man finish mission"

nah too weak weapons, a damn train would need bigger weapons or a lot more than just one or two factory strider cannons
maybe a train with 2 wagons of factory strider cannons (each wagon carrying 2 cannons), 3 wagons or more carrying a single super big orbital cannon from the main objective destroy orbital cannon (but this time capable of firing like a mortar on helldivers across the map, multiple wagons because that thing is huge) and multiple wagons with smaller cannons across the whole train as well multiple fixed manned laser turrets across every wagon
of course the variations would be changing the cannons to warstrider automatic guns etc etc
the idea of such amount of weapons is because the path its fixed (train tracks) and players can choose to engage at any time, from any angle or from far away, as well recoiless being capable of one shotting all these turrets anyway, the orbital cannon firing on helldivers across the map is to give them an small incentive to hunt the train (also only on diff 10 or higher)

I feel like this should be a whole mission. Perhaps it would be a mix of the overship mission and the factory strider convoy objective. You’d have to get a huge weapon of some kind like SEAF artillery and attack the train and its massive escort as a group before it refuels and leaves the map. Otherwise I feel like it would be too similar to the strider convoy

Scrambler is a better idea, like the one already in strider convoys. Jammers would be a bit much imo
