Not that this is particularly out of the ordinary for this country at this point, but this one is local to me. Initial reports I’m hearing are 3 DOA and at least 20 wounded.

Awful. I don’t know what else to say, it’s just another day in this dystopian shithole and now some people who did nothing wrong aren’t alive.

This happened in the Thayer Street area. Thayer is the busiest street in the city for pedestrian traffic, by far, and it is essentially a cafeteria for Brown and RISD. All of the businesses are within a ~4 block stretch of the street, it is very dense and very packed, and on a Saturday evening it’s BUMPING, even in the dead of winter. People getting drinks, getting food between bars, walking to parties, dudes just parked with their sound systems blaring, and the vehicle traffic is generally VERY slow moving as it is a single lane one way with a ton of kids crossing everywhere. This is fucking horrible.

EDIT either second shooter or shooter not in custody, if you are local please stay put and stay safe.

EDIT report of second shooting on Governor St is unfounded, original shooter still at large

EDIT AGAIN out of town rescues released but still no word that I have seen of anybody in custody, again, if you are local please stay put and stay safe

EDIT Mayor says 2 dead, 8 in critical condition, still no shooter in custody and if you live in the area to not return to your home until shelter in place is lifted
