I know right. I’d be pretty damn comfortable with that kind of income. Even if the taxman took half the money I’d still be living the good life and be setting my immediate family up for life
Yes we do. However it’s important that people understand that the way they write these hypotheticals can dramatically change the meaning, irrespective of the intention.
Now what if in order to get the money you had to go to some building and stay there for like 8-10 hours out of about 3 of every 4 days of your life. And you had to do whatever tasks the people there tell you to do, so it ends up aging you more and the majority of your life is dedicated to this button? Oh and instead of $1,000 is like 20-40 bucks?
I mean, that just describes most jobs, right? Except the “choice” is between that and homelessness / starving because all the land is claimed, with a few people claiming the majority of everything
I was kinda being facetious because there is no choice, it’s be enslaved in a prison we build or die, but I don’t mean to be a downer. Continue with the happy upvotes!
Depends on how you read it. The way it’s written “one press gives you $1000 every hour” implies that’s it’s perpetual. So pressing the button once and aging yourself one day would work out to $24,000 a day forever, or $8.76M per year.
Or u could get hit by a bus in morning.. but u just need 1 push to get 1k an hr everyday. So ,basically once u push one time it would give u the money every hr . No need to keep pushing it .lol
That is how many hours + commute I work in 1 year. Thats $2.5 million. I could live on that for the rest of my life and be comfortable. And I'd be ahead on hours of my life because they wouldn't be spent living for a company I don't care about.
Thinking about it, enough to lay off house and debt so then I can start to really save and invest for retirement would be nice. Or probably 1x day for 5yrs to get 1.8mil payoff debt and invest and retire early early.
If I understand you correctly, pressing it once would age me a year, but then I get $1000 an hour for life, and if I press it again, then I age a year again and now start getting $2000 an hour for life. I think I can do away with a year.
I would figure out how much of my time I would have to spend at work to make enough money to live for the rest of my life and I would push it until I had that much money. So I would lose the time I’m gonna have to be at work any way, and then spend the time I have left living my life with my family.
If so, I press it repeatedly until I'm officially retirement age and can get SSA and Medicare, then live out the rest of my life with my newfound wealth without ever having to work again.
Do I get to skip that day too? Is this a personal localized effect or a time travel device? Or is your body being used by alien overloads for some disturbing purpose for 24 hours while you're out?
In my 20s I put $10K into an IRA. It's now worth about $200K and I still have a ways to go to retirement.
So what happens if you press the button once and hold it down until you pass out from exhaustion? This question has a lot of plot holes.
Sounds like getting f'd from all directions. Everyone's going to want a loan, the government is incrementally going to tax you more, you age for real but it apparently doesn't advance time with you, so you'd be stuck old and without social security if you pushed it enough. That button is going in a safe unpressed unless I end up with terminal illness... In that case it's going with me to get stem cell treatment in Costa Rica.
With the exact wording you’ve used, I’d only need to press it once for it to give $1000 an hour. Easiest decision of my life.
Yup. $8.76 million a year for life. Pretty sure I could make that work.
Fun face - With that earning rate, you would need ~54220 years to reach Elon Musk's current net worth
I know right. I’d be pretty damn comfortable with that kind of income. Even if the taxman took half the money I’d still be living the good life and be setting my immediate family up for life
But you’d lose a minute of life. A MINUTE!!!
But if you are destined to die next week you might rethink that decision.
If I’m destined to die in a week I won’t care 😜
Word.
This reminds me of a kid saying to his sister, “technically I’m not touching you” as he puts his finger an inch from her nose.
We all know what the question is. Lol.
Yes we do. However it’s important that people understand that the way they write these hypotheticals can dramatically change the meaning, irrespective of the intention.
So if I press it once I get $1K every hour of every day? So $24K
I'd press it once
Exactly
This but I’d probably do like 10 times. 10 fewer days, but I get almost a quarter million a day.
Obviously the answer would be no, how did you come up with this?
I mean, that just describes most jobs, right? Except the “choice” is between that and homelessness / starving because all the land is claimed, with a few people claiming the majority of everything
I get your point. I guess the big thing is the choice as you say
I was kinda being facetious because there is no choice, it’s be enslaved in a prison we build or die, but I don’t mean to be a downer. Continue with the happy upvotes!
I'd press it every minute for an hour.
I wouldn't mind aging three or four years worth.
U only need to press it once to receive the 1k an hr everyday lol
Would it also age me officially? I would just press it until I can retire then.
With $1000/hour you don’t need to wait til retirement age, you could retire same day.
First thought: money is not worth it
Second thought: I spend 8 hours a day + commute, 5 days a week working. Technically you are "living" on your job. But are you?
Hell of a question. Couldn't answer it right now. It's late and gotta sleep. Tomorrow have to work
Depends on how you read it. The way it’s written “one press gives you $1000 every hour” implies that’s it’s perpetual. So pressing the button once and aging yourself one day would work out to $24,000 a day forever, or $8.76M per year.
No brainer.
3 years
2,000 to get$ 2,000,000 for the bargain price of 5-1/2 years. I could live comfortably for the rest of my, now shorter, life.
You're maths are wrong - that would be 83 days.
It would take 83 days to get the money but you'd lose 5.5 years of your life.
Works for me. 💀
Or u could get hit by a bus in morning.. but u just need 1 push to get 1k an hr everyday. So ,basically once u push one time it would give u the money every hr . No need to keep pushing it .lol
None. I am not rich but I have enough.
So the answer to this is press once a day for 2 years comfortable easy money while not adding to much to year life
Till im dead
This is the only answer.
365 times out of
Just once. I mean I get 1k every hour, so why press it more?
Zero
1000 times. A million will let me retire and I'll live much longer without the stress of working, so it's a net gain.
100 times.
Not having to work can un-age you so it’s a win.
Once a day
I’d press it 365 times. I don’t mind losing a year to gain close to $9M. Lord knows I’m prob never making close to that in a year…ever.
Honestly, maybe 5 times.
Enough times to pay off my mortgage. Lol
At least 300 times? The nonstop burnout already ages me faster than that
$24,000 / day. $168,000 / week. $720,000 / month. $8,760,000 / year. I could use a push-worth.
At 71 years old. And Every year forward.
I would probably give 3% to the ACLU, 3% to the Red Cross, and 3% to the Democratic Party. (2%=$175,200) (3%=$262,800)
It would probably double every 7 years, in 30% in a mutual bond fund, 70% in an equity fund.
Ed: up from 2% to 3%. Ed: Every year forward.
If you only press it once a day you don't age faster than normal so , once a day
Thinking about it, enough to lay off house and debt so then I can start to really save and invest for retirement would be nice. Or probably 1x day for 5yrs to get 1.8mil payoff debt and invest and retire early early.
0
once because it gives me 1000 for every hour that I have left to live .
If I understand you correctly, pressing it once would age me a year, but then I get $1000 an hour for life, and if I press it again, then I age a year again and now start getting $2000 an hour for life. I think I can do away with a year.
At least a hundred times
INFO: Will it be taxed? Does the money appear in cash or is it automatically deposited into my account?
As needed.
Uno
I pay my old MAGA aunt $20 an hour to press the button for me.
It's a win/win.
100000 times
I'm old. I'm not touching that.
Keep pressing it u til I can’t anymore.
I would figure out how much of my time I would have to spend at work to make enough money to live for the rest of my life and I would push it until I had that much money. So I would lose the time I’m gonna have to be at work any way, and then spend the time I have left living my life with my family.
Does it work in reverse. Can I pay to get days back? I’ve got plenty of money and would like to get a few years back.
I guess only if I needed it and only take the amount I would need. A day is way better than taking a year off my life for one push.
I would abuse the hell outta that button . I already go on 1k benders every weekend that age me more than a day
Does it age me every day on paper too?
If so, I press it repeatedly until I'm officially retirement age and can get SSA and Medicare, then live out the rest of my life with my newfound wealth without ever having to work again.
I'd gladly skip to the end of this rat race.
200 times.
Keep pushing it until I die.
Ten. Was going to say thirty, but eh. I have a kid lol
I’d press it once a quarter. 4 times a year
Not at all. Money isn't worth your health. Health and youth are priceless
Probably 100 or so over the first few weeks, and get out of debt, down payment on house, savings all set, then stop. I’d be 3-4 months older, but eh.
I read this as you can press it once an hour and get $1000
Zero. You didn't say that the button press is what gives you the money.
Twice. I already have a few things working against me so why not get paid to add something else to it.
Depends. Am I dying at 40 or 120
Gimme a year
