I do most of my driving on the peninsula. In all my time driving, I’ve rarely had issues getting nails in my tires until the past couple of years. Happening every couple of months now and I’m starting to lose my mind

  • I know it doesn't solve your problem, but I started using Discount Tire years ago and have their hazard certificates on all four of our vehicles. It's nice and they patch your tires for free even if you've never been a customer.

I second this. Went in today with a slow leak, that tire and actually another that wasnt leaking got replaced on the certificates.

I usually go to the battlefield location. Every time I see the manager, Joe, I make sure to tell him I am impressed with the service. Almost every time I am there, I see greatness in the way they do things.

That's where I was today. They do a great job. I work on the peninsula though, so I've had great experiences with Newport News and Williamsburg locations too. I've had friends that have worked for Discount and of course there are crappy things being an employee but they definitely have tires and customer service figured out as a company. I think today were tires #6 and #7 replaced under certificates.

Joe is the best, he always thanks me for keeping the road clean for others when I come in with a nail.

    I have a nail every 6-12 months.

Same here. Just put a new set on a RAV IV. Those certificates are great.

  • I swear there's some tire store manager out there just dumping nails. I've had more since moving here than I've ever had in my life

  • Anytime there's a roofing or siding or gutter crew in the neighborhood, drag the area for nails. At least your own driveway and in front of the house. I started to encourage folks to do so, and we got fewer nails.

  • At least once a year.

  • Been here 3 years and that first year and a half i had 4. I thought maybe it was from driving over to the trash bin, which is on the other side of the complex from me, and haven't gotten a single flat since i stated parking further away from it.

Edit: i saw someone else mention roofing and it coincides with my flats.

  • Change of parking places, habbits or other I've had about 3 to 7 in 13 years driving fairly regularly.

  • I ran over a concrete block and blew out my left sides and then I proceeded to pick up 3 nails after..

  • Yes especially when commuting near a Hone Depot. I keep a portable air pump in my car and use Discount Tire

  • Between both my cars, I have found 7 nails in the past 3 months.

Between all the random construction, and the area refusing to do a decent job street sweeping the roads, I'm sure discount tires and fitment industries have had enough of me calling. Luckily I know how to plug a tire for the ones that are in a repairable area

  • If the other good recommendations aren’t convenient for some reason, and you’re in the downtown/Ghent area, Joe’s Tires patched them for $20 bucks. They’re always pretty quick, too.

I need a tire patch like 3 times a year. It’s so common that I just find it funny now. Haha!

  • Once or twice a year, minimum. I drive across the HRBT daily. The most recent on is right next to the sidewall so I’m just airing it up every morning until I get the motivation to patch it myself.

  • My friend had one. That’s crazy!
