I used to get these in the mall with my girlfriends as a tween and would love to recreate the nostalgic experience. Can anyone recommend a place that could do the same style backgrounds plus the soft focus/airbrushed look?
Someone really needs to bring back a Sears Portrait Studio type business! There's a demand for reasonably priced, cute or corny photos. People don't always want to pay hundreds.
Central library has a big photo studio with a green wall and an iMac in the studio with Photoshop on it. They even have a camera, if you need one. Super easy to change the background and add a Gaussian blur to the image to give it that effect. Free to use, just gotta show up and do the thing.
I guess I was hoping to do the whole studio experience with some of my girlfriends. But maybe that's just not really a thing any more, photographers with studios. It's more about recreating the experience than just the photo.

My stupid brain read this as "add a Caucasian blur" and almost googled it to see what it was.
Vaseline on the lens!
If you have photoshop, you can just copy the image to a new layer, apply a gaussian blur, and use one of the filters to blend it…
Honestly just get that backdrop and some Vaseline and you’re good to go!

People pay for this? I just always thought it was bad photography.
Imagine posting a whole-ass comment just to yuck someone else's yum.
Starting sentences with "imagine" is authentic to the Y2K experience, I'm here for the commitment to retro vibes.
I imagined it. What next?
