It's great, more people should do this. A local bar that is, by all accounting, straight but one night a week they have swing dancing and sometimes there's not enough women. And sometimes there's not enough men. People have a great time, which is all that matters.
and honestly, whether you're predominantly a lead or a follow, it's good to get a bit of floor time as your non-preferred role, just to get a feel what it's supposed to feel like to the other person.
Are they professional dancers? They remind me of those competitions where they pair two random dancers, play 20 seconds of a song for the pair to get an idea of the rhythm of the song they'll be dancing to, then they play to full song and see how the pair do together free styling it.

Yeah it's honestly good fun. Does take a bit of training before you can really flow as a lead but it's such a satisfying hobby.
