I never read the books serially, but one thing I noticed is that the first few books had very long chapters, which ofcourse led to the book being finished in under 20 chapters. But, if you compare it with the books published later, they have relatively shorter chapters, which are more in number.
Now, the story, I really liked it. Gives an eerie, spooky vibe, but the ending was little rushed in my opinion.
Why did Amanda not warn the new family about the house? And how did Mr. Dawes(agent) come back from being smoked by the sun?
Sad on part of the dog, but overall the story is great.
Your opinions?

I thought it was solid. The characters were a little bland and the scares were pretty standard, but it was still a nice little read with a great climax and creepy imagery.
One of the better books in the sense of creepy/spooky and cool imagery.
