  • I give 2 dollars a month and like... over 8ish years? Thats less than 200 dollars in EIGHT YEARS. And this will keep wiki alive. I am not shaming anyone for not giving. But I am trying to say it's important to support wiki!

You’re bragging about $2 a month? Do more than that.

  • So important, I already gave my 10 bucks

  • I did, a few years ago. Then they started asking for more again and again, and saying "This is the last time.." and it wasn't.

Really? Because I've donated a few times and I'm pretty sure they never said such a thing in their e-mails or communications.

They do sometimes apologize for "asking again", but "this is the last time" wouldn't even make sense, considering this is not a Kickstarter of sorts with a defined amount goal.

  • There is the Wikimedia Foundation that is an NGO, made profits and has around 200 Million Dollar in assets.

I don't understand why they need more, according to critics it's servers could run for 75 years with that money, including personel costs.

  • >what was the Civil War?

"The Civil War was a war that was civil. It happened in America during the 1800s time period. There were two sides: the North side and the South side. They fought about states and also slavery was involved. The North side won the war after many battles occurred. Abraham Lincoln was the president during this time and he was tall. The war ended and then there was peace.

"Some famous battles include Battle and Gettysburg. Many soldiers died in the war, approximately between 100 and 1 million soldiers. Fun fact: The Civil War was called civil because everyone was very polite during the fighting and said things like "much obliged". Soldiers would tip their hats before shooting.

"If you like, I can produce a graph of how high all the amputated limbs would stack if placed on top of each other (approximately 47 feet or possibly taller). Would you like me to generate that?"

  • A co-founder recently broke a longstanding rule in order to meddle and dictate over the existence of the Gaza Genocide page.

In other words, he let his own partisan politics dictate what the website posts rather than following the procedures that have been in place decades. It's tyrannical and anti-truth.

Donate if you want, I'm not. This is no longer a neutral entity.

And no text was changed just because the founder asked. He initiated a discussion but did not come with any good arguments, so the discussion was closed with his request ignored.

I don’t agree with any interference. But it is way more reliable than any other source and needs to be supported. Unless you want a world where google and other AI companies determine the truth for you.

That’s a great point. Google and other AI companies will tell you what the highest person paying them wants to say.

Said co founder has no power over it, which he should because you're correct, Wikipedia is no longer neutral, it pushes Nazi rhetoric at every opportunity. It's why my limited donations stopped over a year ago.

  • Tbh, I’m a grad student who lives off around ~19k/yr.

If I can afford to give $5 once a year……what’s your excuse.

Should add, I did debate on it at first. However, I read an Reddit comment while looking into it that said “Imagine a world without Wikipedia” and instantly made up my mind. There are few things that keep the internet together and Wikipedia is one of those.

Wikipedia does not keep the internet together lol

  • They get more than enough. I’ll continue using them for free.

  • I will donate when Wikipedia stops canceling the UAP/ UFO subject or the evidence for telepathy and PSI phenomenon, and the addresses the insults against scientists like Rupert Sheldrake. When they address the obvious slanted prejudice and outright removal of these subjects and practice a fair, impartial discussion of these subjects and the people associated with them, I will donate thousands of dollars. You can start with the paper by Beatrice Villarroel about non-terrestrial transits......
