• Don't beat others, beat yourself

The more you struggle with yourself, the more growth. Not comfortable, not fancy, but effective.

  • That's what I do, but I keep coming last.

If you keep going with time that effort will compound and you will get results. Most people give in on the path, not that much people stay consistent over time. It's easier nowadays with so much distractions, the problem is that it is very hard to keep going for years without having results, where you need faith in yourself, more than anything else.

  • In the end, the only fair competition is against yourself.

And the only one that makes a real difference. Competing to improve yourself will make you a better performer, that can be used for a better purpose in another place if you don't like the conditions or how you're being treated.

Alas, no. Many competitions in life matter a great deal: your job, your wife, in fact, anything you do will have its value judged vs others..

I meant that only you have walked your path, so only you have your unique troubles and pain, and in the end, there is no fair comparison about whether you did your best or not, because no one has lived what you've lived. Did you do your best? You are the only one who knows, or ever will.

  • I run like I'm being chased by ghosts.

  • Alternate take: don’t race at all because life is not meant to be a race but a fun experience !

Chill perspective, and if it works for somebody it's great. Each one should find its own level of race, chilling, and grinding to feel fulfilled and satisfied. Not everybody should be or behave in a specific way due to cultural imposition.
