Good afternoon all,
I’m currently experiencing stuttering on CyberPunk and it’s extremely frustrating. It’s mostly visual but sometimes accompanied by audio stuttering. It’s inconsistent but seems to happen during heavy action scenes.
Current hardware is a predator Helios with 7700hq, 16gb ram, GTX 1060 6gb. I’m connected to an older 50” tv at 60hz via hdmi.
I’m on the ultimate plan and game was purchased through steam.
Things I’ve tried:
Using my laptop display instead of the second display, it still happens.
I’ve disabled steam overlay.
I’m connected via Ethernet and ping is 5ms via cmd and around 11ms through GeForce now app and bandwidth is over 900mbps up/down with no packet loss.
I’ve adjusted many in game graphics settings and GeForce settings and have failed to fix it.
Updated nvidia drivers to the latest.
I’m trying to run at a smooth 60fps with max settings, which I feel is achievable but I’m clearly missing something.
I’m sorry if this has been asked before, I’ve tried searching for answers and have come up empty with everything I’ve tried. I’m new to GFN so I’m hoping you guys have ideas. Any advice would be fantastic. Thanks in advance.
If it’s happening during action scenes it sounds like the hardware is struggling. Cyberpunk at max settings is still demanding even on the 5080 tier, and if you’re running it on the 4080 rig it’s know to have a bit of a bottleneck. What graphics settings have you tried?
I’ve played with path tracing on and off, dlss on and off, frame gen on and off, adjusted RT settings also. I’m on the 5080 right now, and I naively thinking that it should be able to max it out at 1080 60fps? I don’t mind giving up fidelity for a smooth frame rate. I’ll try to drop some settings when I play next. Also, what’s the consensus on GeForce streaming settings? I have my stream fps set to 60 to match my display. Should I leave it on auto or custom? Thank you very much
Hmm…have you tried playing with the bitrate? I can play the game at 4k120 with path tracing without stuttering, so I’m assuming if you’ve played with the in-game settings it can’t be that. Try increasing or decreasing the bitrate. Vsync also might be messing things up. I don’t think changing the max fps in the GeForce settings would effect that
Thanks again I’ll definitely give that a go tonight. Should I max the bitrate out fully?
Try maxing it first, if that doesn’t help, bring it down to around 15 or so. If your bitrate is too high for your internet to handle, bringing it low should help fix it. If your bitrate is so low that it’s causing stuttering, bringing it up should help. I always max mine, but it might be different depending on your specific situation
Sounds more of a connection issue- 1080p should not be struggling despite settings
I play on ultimate tier with 1440p all max settings on path tracing with dlss and 2x frame gen and it says above 90 even during chaotic scenes
Yeah, it’s definitely not a settings problem, it just made sense to check. I’m not sure what the connection issue would be because they’ve already tried using Ethernet and done the GeForce connection test, 900 mbps down with 5ms ping and no package loss doesn’t indicate it being a connection issue
Try turning on vsync and see if that helps since it will sync up the game fps with the steam fps
I’ve toggled on and off but I may have also adjusted other settings at the same time. I’ll adjust that by itself to confirm. Thank you
I had stuttering in some games such as KCD2, Tomb Raider and RE4 after following advice online to disable in game vsync but turn vsync on in the GeForce Now settings. I turned vsync on in game and switched to “Adaptive” in GeForce Now and the stuttering went away.
I did this and a disabled frame gen and it’s running flawlessly. Thank you very much.
Please post your game session diagnostic report:

Did you check laptop temps? Could be laptop overheating as it's quite old.
I did check them, I just repasted about 6 months ago and all temps are great. I’m undervolted through throttlestop also. Thank you.
Sounds like connection is throttled during action sequences- try setting the GeForce now max bit rate to max (100)
