-Metroid always had a female protagonist, since the 1980's, so it isn't "woke," by their standards.
-There's no real-life "politics" in the game.
-The "Joss Whedon writing" has nothing to do with "wokeness."
-Why the hell would they care about some controversy about unlocking to play music in the open desert area earlier by paying thirty bucks for an optional figure? They're hardcore corporate bootlickers.
Because they don't actually care about gaming, they are just here for the grift and thus the money.

I collect Superman and DC bound editions (as in, I have so many). There has been a lot of upset because Superman, Batman, etc.. are very progressive characters and the grifters hate that. Plus with the game just having come out it’s a good way to game the SEO algorithms and get their stuff closer to the top of the pile
Pretty much anything to do with Samus in 4 has been pretty amazing to see in this game. What hasn’t been my personal favorite is how the companions felt like an afterthought in comparison. I know the devs gotta inflate how you’re awesome, cuse fuck yeah, Samus is a legend almost a hundred times over by now.

Sure, but at the same time, Nintendo has been locking gameplay features behind Amiibos for over a decade now and there are far more egregious examples of things like locking fast travel or even an entire game mode.
It's very easily to work around this by using a free app and a programmable NFC tag, however, and even if you do want to accumulate a large collection of figurines, that's the more convenient way to use them anyway.
Anyone who is only raging about this now is very late to the party.
Yeh far more optional less impactful things.
Like "Oh we added fast travel to Skyward Sword now but it is behind an Amiibo so it's a new feature but we will charge you" and that's as bad as they kind of went before really and that was adding the feature to a game without it.
With Prime 4 from reviews and what's being said it's a long stretch of empty area with little ambient sound and they've locked being able to listen to music behind an Amiibo. that feels like an actual shitty design decision to sell the Amiibo by making the section actively less enjoyable to those who refuse to pay extra.
In what way is being able to change the music impactful on the gameplay though?
I'd have said that it's much more of a cosmetic feature and, much though I don't like Nintendo gating off anything behind an Amiibo like that, it doesn't change the way you play the game anything like as much as losing out on fast travel or a different play mode.

I'm dead against Nintendo locking even cosmetic features behind an Amiibo but, as someone who has, this is getting totally blown out of proportion by grifters in comparison to what Nintendo has already been doing for the past decade.

Oh and apparently you have to spent a fair chunk of time in the desert and it's mostly empty space.

It's a symptom of being a mediocre to even some what good game is judged by a completely different standard than what it used to be. The reality is that there are elements of Metroid Prime that are objectively not that great. Anytime a game comes out nowadays that is widely perceived as having elements that are mid or whatever there's a contingent of online hobgoblins that are just salivating at the idea of blaming it on woke" "progressive" "liberal" ideology or whatever. In reality though, these are more generally just parts of a game that aren't good and particular groups trying to rationalize why it's not good (in this case through political agenda) and yet there's plenty of games that do super well despite their overtly woke (i.e. Balders Gate 3, Elden Ring, Hades etc.)

I mean, my gut reaction to this game was "open world again? But what garbage are you seeing? I havent followed discussion at all for this game.
So it starts off with the fact that Retro hired quite a few 343 devs and had some consulting done by other folks aka like ideal targets for a poorly done ragebait video. People blame the 343 people for ruining prime just as they ruined Halo and with more and more shades of it entering further levels of blaming specific people and the usual ragebait nasty shit.
In my opinion the game's issues almost certainly stem from devhell and just debatable overall direction. It isn't terrible but everything outside of shooting, boss fights and morph balling is just off in a lot of small ways that add up especially once you reach mid to late game.

Burn me on a stake if you want man but I've loved metroid since I was a kid. It's what got me into metroidvanias in the first place, I've been wishing for prime 4 for a majority of my life and it was gonna be my sole reason to buy a switch 2.
Until I started seeing it and comparing it to silksong and man it was like a truck hit me. Still, I heard good things so while visually it was a letdown I'm sure it's still a great game. But $30 dollars for a radio on your bike? It costs more money to have a radio on prime 4 than Silksong at full price. That's simply ass.
