I used Boost for a long time, well after the whole "no more 3rd party apps" thing, but eventually things change over time and the apps rot, and no amount of revanced wizardry would keep it stable and usable for me (I'm sure others have made it work, or are okay with limitations), so I gave up and switched to the browser with an ad blocker and other than the near constant, "You should use the app!" popups, it's not bad.
It's baffling just how bad the official Reddit app is.
Third party developers, with a team of one person, have built apps that worked so much better.
If the official app only lacked features and polish, it would be one thing. But it's a piece of crap all around, and has been for years. They cannot even get the basics right.
This shows you just how incompetent Reddit management has to be. Their budget must be in the millions, yearly, yet they cannot remotely match what one talented engineer implemented years ago. It's honestly pathetic.
Mine is doing the same thing, and it's set to full screen. I can't find anything in the reddit app settings either.
There's now these large gaps down each side.

Yes this is the same issue for me. I'm using relay for reddit in the meantime but it's frustrating
Stop using the app. Use the website in a browser, preferably one with an ad blocker.
Ive been using relay for reddit and am enjoying it more than the official app so far!

Settings>Display>Aspect Ratio
Set reddit to "Full Screen"
I had the same thought, reddit is technically taking up the full screen, the content reddit app displays is not though, if that makes sense.
Hmm, no clue then Good ol reinstall maybe
