I love Twitch and for me chat is half the fun. As a Fold 7 owner I couldn't find a great solution for viewing stream and chat, so I forked Twire (open source Twitch client) and added foldable support.
When you half-fold your device, it automatically splits:
- Stream on the top half
- Chat on the bottom half
Perfect for watching streams on your desk!
Features:
- Auto flex mode detection
- BTTV/FFZ/7TV emotes (already in Twire)
- UI improvements (viewer count overlay on card previews)
- Additional themes added (try Twitch OLED)
Download: GitHub Release - Alpha 1
Passes Google Play Protect scan. Built and tested on Galaxy Fold 7.
This is an alpha build - looking for feedback.

That’s sick tbh
SOLD!!!!
If you install it on your 6, let me know how it works. I had a 6 before i traded in for the 7, so I didn't have it on hand physically to test it.
This is really cool man!!!!! Great work!!!!
as a prolific chatter, I'm gonna check this out!! using bttv but happy to explore better options
Let me know what you think. Don't forget to toggle chat modes, if you like to just spam emotes you'll want to toggle into that view so you can just tap as opposed to type.
awesome! I'll absolutely drop some feedback once I get in the groove
thank you for all the work, I love this phone and the lack of support on some apps is just tragic (though the native twitch app has always been pretty much unusable anyways)
Appreciate it! And yeah i feel like not enough apps are taking advantage of this mode and this felt like a perfect fit. If there are any other open source apps you think could benefit let me know and if interested I'd take a look at doing something similar.
The YT app does something similar natively. I find it.... surprising-but-not-really that the Twitch app does not
Yeah, agreed that the official Twitch app could use some work. And the lack of emotes is a deal breaker for me personally.
Please say it blocks ads like purpletv does
It doesn't handle ads like Purple TV unfortunately. Purple TV hijacks the ads and keeps the stream playing uninterrupted by modifying the official Twitch app. Twire (and Twire Flex as it's a fork of Twire) blocks the ads, but the stream is still interrupted and the viewer will see Twitch's default 'Commercial Break In Progress' screen. You can get around this by paying for Twitch Turbo.
Thank you for the detailed reply! I like supporting small creators and streamers, sub to them individually or via direct dono, but Jeffyboy doesn’t need more Beezos bucks, so not paying for turbo any time soon. If you ever manage to handle ads like purpletv does, I’m sure your fork will gain massive traction.
Bonus if you can make twitch work with android auto. I don’t mean for video as I realize that would be nearly impossible, but for audio only it would be nice to have twitch show up as a player in AA
Ha! Appreciate the support and understand the sentiment on Turbo. Regarding AA, I hadn't thought of that but that's an interesting angle. The Twire player (and therefore this Flex fork) has a native 'audio only' option, and i typically turn my screen off with the video playing and the audio will still play. But as an AA user myself I could see the benefit of audio only streams.
Wait people actually watch twitch
Fk peenut we're on Team Hutch baby 💪
Yeah, the Arc wars are something aren't they? Hutch is great!
Yeah man.
No.
