“Diseases are actually good for you”

"You see, cancer is actually good for you and when you recover your body becomes stronger because the good cells will recognize the bad cells in the future"

I might actually lose my shit if someone says that... Lost my uncle and one of my best friends to cancer, and my mothers breast cancer came back to attack her bones right before she passed due to a massive stroke

Fuck cancer in all its forms

Sorry for your losses, man. I count myself incredibly fortunate that my own sister's cancer never got her. Dunno how I'd ever deal with that.

    Cancer fucking sucks.

Yep. My mum had the leukaemia and my dad... well forty cigarettes a day for 65 years and a fear of going to see the doctor will do that. At least he died in a beautiful location.

    THAT has got to suck.

    You have no idea

Luckily my sister's and I are all close to home and we're able to be with her in the hospital at the end. It's been 2 months now and I still find something I want to share with her or something I want her opinion on all the time.

Uncle and bestie both passed several years ago but mom....that's closer and still fresh af

Shit I broke down in tears the other day seeing one of the breast cancer awareness shirts we all got with her first bout with cancer

And those cells will just keep multiplying and multiplying and multiplying and multiplying - I’m just know they’ll fight it!

I've actually seen more that one post claiming this and another claiming that killing cancer is the same as abortion.

They’ve been banging that drum for a couple years at least now

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!"

Kelly Clarkson was preparing us for this. /s

What doesn't always kill you makes you... well not necessarily stronger, but definitely at least rueful.

  • I'd like to think the 3rd post is a troll winding up the anti-vaxxers.

That was definitely the vibe I got too.

  • If a ANYTHING killed 1-3 out of a 1000 kids there would be public outrage

Yet, this is the message from Anti-Vaxxers

Diseases are safe and good, you should get them

They never hurt anyone, not like those vaccines that do imaginary things we can't prove because there is zero evidence

I have said it before, the Anti-Vax movement will only end after a massive outbreak, and it will die on a mountain of innocent children

And I think when it happens, every single parent that contributed to that mountain should be charged with murder

    Guns are deadlier to children.

Thought and prayers and bootlicking the NRA!

If/when one of the ant-vax kids dies from these “good for you” diseases, they will absolutely try to sue the federal government and/or their physicians for not pushing the vax harder. Pretty sure this happened already in a pretty recent Texas case. Didn’t get far, but then the CDC recommendations hadn’t been changed at that time.

  • Argh. My great-grandmother got measles as an adult and developed encephalitis.

This was 1930s Arkansas so medical care was pretty minimal. She was in a coma for a couple weeks, and when she finally made it through, she was brain-damaged to the point of being 6-8 mentally. My grandfather had to drop out of school in third grade to take care of her and make sure she didn’t accidentally burn down the house.

But sure, measles is harmless. 🙄

  • He chose the disease that wipes one's pre-existing immunities. Lol

  • I never got to meet one of my Aunts because she died of measles as an infant. I will never understand these delusional people.

They probably believe it's called measles because it's "a measly disease".

  • Well Grok isn't entirely corrupted... yet.

  • Why are these people so willingly goddamned stupid?

  • I would almost like to call this natural selection taking it's course but what the hell. The adults are probably pretty much fine for the most part. Their kinds are screwed.

  • "we all agree on this stupid shit, grok confirm our bias"

    grok: nnnnno.

  • Where is the argument? Freedom Lover reads as sarcasm.

  • I remember back in the 2000's there was an Australian anti-vaxxer that published a book called something like "Mary's Marvelous Measles"

Sounds like a bad children's book
