If only there was some way to pool funds into some kind of like system that paid for people’s welfare. We could fund it with a percentage of the money everyone makes each year… oh wait, republicans would call that communism.
Most of you are 100% programmed by Fox News propaganda. You let republicans (that hate you and think you’re an idiot) ruin your lives by preying on your own insecurities and fears.
Democrats are not perfect. They need to get their ass in gear, but they are light years better than the MAGA GOP.
Let me be clear, IF YOU CONTINUE FALLING FOR MAGA/FOX/GOP PROPAGANDA, YOUR LIVES WILL CONTINUE TO BE SHIT. THIS TOWN WILL CONTINUE TO BE SHIT. NOTHING WILL GET BETTER. STOP BEING SHEEP TO FOX NEWS AND START MAKING A CHANGE

Reminder that there's a $6 billion emergency fund available to temporarily fund SNAP benefits. Trump just refuses to use it because SNAP is a "democrat program."

It's not about helping people, it's about a feel good story and recognition. There is a maddening level of disconnect in these people, to be staunchly against tax funded assistance but the first to make a gofundme or a Facebook post like this.
Last place I lived there was a group on FB 'buy nothing'. You could post up things you didn't need and people that did need it would come get it. Or things you needed and folks would offer if they had it.
That’s great but it shouldn’t be the basis of a functioning society. We need safety nets for people that do not discriminate against who gets the support. Private charity allows for discrimination.
Sure. Government is shutdown at the moment so you need to be open to alternative sources of things you need. I provided a thing that happens elsewhere. Maybe it happens in your community too.
Talking to your neighbors can be a great source too. Many have a lot of junk that might be treasure in your hands. It takes a village. They can be a great source of odd jobs, trading, and other useful services. I also saw a place that had a useful service exchange and heard on the radio about an app that coordinated such things. Trade your website design skills for some lawn mowing or elder care services.
Maybe we should discriminate against people who are perfectly capable of providing for themselves but choose not to.
An iron
Front Royal.. isn't that maga country? This sounds like socialism
Front Royal is extreme MAGA country.
It is
It's almost like this is how we're supposed to assist the hungry. Community charity, not tax funded handouts.
That way you get to ensure it only goes to straight white Christians. We all understand why you’re against “handouts” from the government but are okay picking and choosing who gets private handouts. You’re a bigot. Pretty simple.
The fucking cognitive dissonance
What does "supposed to" mean to you?
So you're good with eliminating tax breaks for gazillionaires.
Yes
I'm conservative, but not MAGA. There are too many things on the Democratic side that don't line up with my beliefs. There are issues on both sides. Neither is perfect.
Give me an example
An example of what? Even if I did it wouldn't matter better people have lost the ability to agree to disagree 🤷.
An example of what you mean. You’re saying too many things don’t line up with your beliefs. I am curious what is an example of what doesn’t line up to your beliefs and what you propose instead.
I’m just trying to understand your point of you. If I disagree with you I may offer my point of view and you’ll walk away with more perspective as will I.
Im not trying to fight you, im just trying to understand what you mean.
Thanks for the explanation.
I am a Christian, but I do not agree with everything the Republican party does. Abortion, and the gender ideology are two examples of things I do not support. I'm sure I'm going to be down voted but I guess that should be expected given the culture 🤷.
As a Christian, do those examples outweigh the call to love your neighbor, protect sojourners, and give alms to the poor? I understand where you are coming from, but I'm trying to understand how you weigh the various calls to action the Bible commands of Believers.
I believe that the murder/killing of innocent life by abortion outweighs them all. I am loving my neighbor by being opposed to abortion. Would that unborn child also count as my neighbor to you?
As far as gender ideology goes, I believe everyone should be able to believe what they want. If someone believes they are female when they were born a man that's not something I'm going to oppose as long as I'm not required to believe that as well. The issue comes in when I can be fired from my job because of my belief that you are what you were born as. I would say that abortion is my biggest hang up.
I have a solution for you:
Just don’t get an abortion! Pretty simple. Let people make their own decisions.
Okay so abortion is the top tier issue for you, correct? Do you believe once the baby is born it should be supported? Do you belive every child deserves a safe home and warm food? Should these children be guaranteed an education that prepares them to become a productive member of society? What about the woman who is growing and birthing the child, should she have access to healthcare to ensure her baby is developing properly? When it's time to give birth, should she be given the bill, or is that something for the state to address?
I completely understand the desire to protect the children, and I believe we share that value. What actions/policies are you in favor of once the child is born?
Yes, abortion is a top-tier issue for me. Your question is complex because I believe that people shouldn't be having sex and/or children out of wedlock. I believe that may solve most of the issues with children not being taken care of.
Since I don't think that would happen, I would be in support of programs that support the children and woman but to an extent.
But if I had to choose between supporting the side that wanted social programs or the side that was anti-abortion, I would choose anti-abortion side. If people cannot provide for the children they decide to have then they should go to someone who will. If you can't provide for the children you have than to me that's neglect. The problem is, we have too many irresponsible people bringing children in a world that they can't take care of.
Taking children away from their birth families causes trauma to both the mother and child. So while I do understand your position of not having children you cannot afford to care for, is the solution really breaking up families? Or does it make more sense to support families with social safety nets?
Let's discuss a hypothetical situation, if you don't mind. Say there is a couple who are truly and deeply in love. They abstain from sex until marriage. They marry, and over the next 10 years have 5 kids. The wife, believing her greatest calling is to raise her children, chooses to be a homemaker. The husband, taking great pride in his role as a provider and headship, works incredibly hard to provide a good life for his family. One day, he goes to clock in for work and is told there has been a massive layoff, and his role no longer exists. He knows they have enough in their savings to survive the next 6 months. He goes home, tells his wife, and immediately starts looking for work. He treats his job hunt like a full time job, spending 10 hours every day except Sunday seeking work. 5 month later, still no luck in finding work. His wife says she will try to find a job, so at least they are both trying. Unfortunately, she has a 10 year gap in her resume and is instantly rejected from even minimum wage jobs. Being homeless is looking more and more real every day. This stress causes health issues for the husband, and unfortunately he develops a heart condition, permanently putting him out of the workforce, since employers are very hesitant to hire someone who will raise their insurance rate. Now, with no jobs, no more savings, and hungry kids, what is this family supposed to do? They've done everything "right" and still are struggling. Should their 5 kids be placed in foster care, or even adopted out? Does it matter that they won't be able to stay together with their siblings? Or loving parents?
This is what the social safety net is for. Because bad things can and do happen to good people. Should this good family not be protected because someone less upstanding might get the same support and protection? Should ANY child go without because of the choices their parents make, or the situations they find themselves in?
Can you point me to the anti abortion sections in the Bible, please?
Abortion and "gender ideology" have been wildly contorted by the Republicans. I wonder if you might support Dems if you had better information on these topics. For example, nobody is forcing anyone to get any type of gender surgery, and "late term abortion" is not the termination of a viable pregnancy. Republicans lie and manipulate their base with fear tactics and appeals to emotion. It's shameful.
So you support masked federal agents roaming our streets, kidnapping people and disappearing them, all because you're a Christian? No democrat is going to make you get an abortion. Democrats want you to be able to choose. You know who else in your bible wants people to be able to choose?
If a person only cares about abortion and will only vote to take away rights of a person they won't meet in favor of child being born that the aforementioned voter will never take care of there is no point in arguing. They have decided that abortion is murder, that a woman having sex out of wedlock is impure and should suffer. They don't care that the policies they have aligned with themselves can often cause harm to that woman and the child she has brought into the world. They are clearly not in support of the supporting sex workers, not casting stones, chasing vendors out of temples with whips and feeding people teachings of Jesus Christ. There ain't no hate like Christian love.
I believe every male should have to put up $350,000 in a bank account every time they have a child (that's how much raising a child cost) from a woman that is denied an abortion. If they don't have it, they can pay it off by check deductions. I also believe if a woman is denied an abortion, or was impregnated by mistake, rape etc... she should be able to demand that the male that impregnated her have a vasectomy. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. No reversing it.
I also believe you are full of it. I am not as nice as some of the others. Who the hell do you think you are to tell a women what she can do with her OWN body? Christian my ass....you're no Christian
