know it’s been said over and over for years but we really need to boost this 100k memory! Even 150k would make such a huge difference. I have multiple published maps I can’t update because of an update a few months back that boosted them to 130k when they were below the limit when I published them. I have multiple maps that are at the limit so I can’t add anything to them so I can’t finish/publish them. Give us creators the additional memory to make cool maps without always facing these memory issues! Make it so switch and ps4 kids can’t access them, I don’t care! We need that memory 😭😭😭 PLEASE!
The 100k limit isn't tied to a physical memory value. It's just an arbitrary number. Apparently they're always tweaking the actual value of memory we're given in the background based on all the data they've collected on the current player base, but I've never seen anyone doing any tests to confirm that or by how much.
One of the best and easiest ways you can optimise your level and reduce memory use is by reducing the number of different assets and duplicate the same assets where possible.
Also, different platforms will still show different memory values, so launching your level in creative on a Nintendo Switch will show much lower memory use than launching on a PS5. I know this is something they've said they fixed/stopped but it still works.

Yeah I don’t know how it works at all. I get how some devices/actors can be higher memory. I don’t get how I have 3mb out of 400mb but I’m at 100k memory. I definitely don’t understand how some maps with tons of things are at 80k and other maps with seemingly nothing are at 100k with only a few spawners. I haven’t built HLODS ever, maybe I need to look into that more.
Agreed, I was totally fed up with the creative memory limitations, which is why I started getting into UEFN. If you have access to a PC, I highly recommend it. Then you can cook freely and add as much as you want

It's not unlimited. Your UEFN editor still needs to be connected to a live edit session in order to do a memory calculation.
UEFN has tools that give you more information on where your memory is being used, but the limit still exists. It's just different depending on which platform your live edit session it on.
Yeah that’s very interesting. I do my edit sessions on ps5. And apparently that total is more than on a switch or other platforms. If I hook up my ps4 in theory the memory would decrease? Does that affect the overall graphics for publishing? Or just a memory hack?
Ps5 is by far the worst I've tested for the memory limit. I haven't tested on ps4 so let me know if you give it a go! The best I've tested so far is Switch 2 and Amazon Luna. Mobile might be a good one to test too.
It's just a memory thing. It doesn't matter what platform you use to publish.
