Hey r/FoodEdinburgh! We're the team behind Orbit Dining (the Edinburgh food discovery app) and we need your help. 🎉
We're trying to build the ultimate "Fringe Food Crawl" list for visitors and locals, but we want to make sure we're not missing the real gems that only you lot know about...
Looking for:
- Quick bites between shows (Pleasance/Underbelly area)
- Places that won't bankrupt you after buying 47 fringe tickets
- Late dinner spots (because shows finish at weird times)
- Decent veggie options
We'll add the best suggestions to our "Fringe Festival Eats" community list so everyone can benefit!
What are your actual go-to spots during festival season? 🍜

Honestly stick to the independents, places like Kebab Mahal and mosque kitchen have been serving the areas for years and get overlooked because its old school cooking, the owners are in the late 60s so dont do social media but
Thank you🫡
Peters Food Hub!
Super fresh, super nice people, and a crazy variety. It’s Cantonese, Philippine, Japanese and Greek. The Pork Buns are Really great. At the end of the Leith Walk.
Mama Roma!
Great fresh Pasta, yummy desserts, 20£ bottle of house wine, half portions of dishes available
Thank you🫡
Definitely the Mosque Kitchen. Been going there for years. Prices have shot up but it’s still good food and decent value.
Marys cafe on St marys street is nice. Are you planning to be on android? I've lived in Edinburgh for decades, and it's such a beautiful city. But I wish that when listing eateries apps describe what kind of environment it is. For example, if it's light, if it's airy, if it's spacious, if there are outside seats, if there's a view, as it can really make a difference.
Thank you for this! We’ll take this onboard and see how we can add it to descriptions! I’ll send across some screenshots - you can let us know what you think? 😎
We’ll be on android in the near future, we’re focusing on Apple to get started! 🔥
Noodles home is both quick and cheap and also delicious.

I've been to Saj Shawarma Grill twice this week - £5.90 for a solid meal. What is this, 2010?! 10/10 will visit tomorrow also
