• Looks like a good crew 🫡

    Really carried the job

  • Eyyy, I don't see enough horses on here. I've got a few half-lingers that we occasionally convince to pull when theyre not too busy being fat and lazy.

I'll take them over like half the humans I've worked with over the years.

  • I bet they don't get stuck or leave giant tracks though the woods forever

Yup, the reason why they are there

  • This is cool to see. I have used my mule to pull logs before. He’s a great help around the ranch.

    More reliable than a tractor

  • What are their names?

Damn, didn't even ask. We had a lot to do

I might not have thought to ask their names, but i don't care how much we had to do there's no way I wouldn't have at least went over and pet them. 🤣

  • They look a little disgruntled. They deserve a pizza party.

  • My colleagues also produce horseshit, but I like your way better

  • the original ATVs

  • Back years ago (not saying) I pulled logs for my uncle. He had a draft horse called Betty that never left a log laying to my knowledge. And no matter where we were cutting she would take off full speed when she got hooked up and always stopped at the side of the logging truck. Those were some of my best memories.

  • Fantastic! I grew up logging with Horses. That’s what started me down the tree felling path. Great way to make a living if you can do it. Wish it was still possible in BC.

  • Reminds me of Eustice on Mountain Men. He would use mules/horses to drag logs. Looks like fun!

  • I love listening to my uncle's stories about logging with horses back in the late 50s early 60s. His dad and uncle owned the sawmill and he'd lead the horses up and down the mountain to hook up. My favorites were when he claimed he held onto the horse's tail because it was so steep he couldn't stand up.

  • Love it. We used to raise and train standbreds to pull logs. Then we bought this Belgian Draft? Ohmigod, a pulling machine!

One weekend, we went to an Amish demonstration and I got to use one of their horses to pull a plow! So much power!!!

Good on you keeping the old ways alive!

  • Oh they’re adorable! I love that they’re still being used in certain industries, they really are wonderful creatures.

Here’s a fun fact: We used to use horses in coal mines too, they were called pit ponies, they had better conditions than human workers.
