Basically I saw the movie first and loved how endearing and silly he acted, but then I was equally obsessed with the twist reveal and body horror of it all. And then reading the book was what solidified him as a fave, because he's actually very sympathetic, having been young and naive when he happened across Voldemort and the implication that he was conflicted about what he was doing.
Even though his book backstory was retconned years later (thank you jkr that's always a great sign) what the retcon did was at least interesting and sympathetic in a different way - instead of just happening to find Voldemort and being corrupted from there, he went looking for him on purpose and actually found him when nobody else could!! which shows how magical-book-smart but not people-smart and naive he was, which just makes so much sense, as much as I'm salty about it being a badly written retcon. So basically his arc there is sort of the opposite from the book, instead of stumbling upon Voldemort and being corrupted from there, it's more like he starts out with the arrogant and perhaps irresponsible mindset that he'll be fine if he finds Voldemort, only to realize later on that he fucked up, as it also states that along with being conflicted about what he was doing, he also tried to resist Voldemort but was overtaken (idk if that means he was fully possessed in the end, or just gave in to the evil of it all because what else was he supposed to do in that situation) So yeah it's a mess but I have room in my heart for both continuities.
I also can not overstate what an absolute fiend I am for body horror in general, I can't get enough of it in any media, it's always so striking visually and the themes of losing control, violation, deterioration, being unsafe in your own body, it just makes me absolutely feral and I can't get enough of it.

Then when chapter 2 game out pretty much all of the endings except for one included incest in some way, and the only ending where it didn't was the one where Ashley and Andrew kill themselves. This chapter pretty much solidified the games identity as being about incest, even though that was never the point of the game.
The majority of her fanart is porn, but it's EXTREMELY overexaggerated. Her character is not as sexual deviant as the art portrays despite the fact that she acts coy and flirtatious with her brother.
Her psychology is not that she's disinterested in sex. It's that it doesn't accommodate her fantasy of never growing up with her brother, thus remaining as "Andy and Leyley", their kid names. If it was up to her, they wouldn't do anything at all. She does become lenient to a degree and in some of the other routes, she does the deed albeit with great disdain. Even though she detests it greatly, she does it ONLY to keep her brother around. Her psychosis demands that it only be each other.
The game has incest, and dare I say incest bait, but the story is more than that. It's rough. It's extremely well done, but definitely not for the squeamish or impressionable.
I agree, if the creator tightened up certain plot points and didn't give into the "owning the trolls" mindset in chapter 2 I feel like they could've had a genuinely interesting story on their hands.
I even feel like incest in chapter one is a great example of this, the idea that these siblings become so toxicly codependent on eachother that they don't see anything immediately wrong with having sex? Uncomfortable in the best way imo.
I also blame the people who immediately jumped to calling the creator a perverted freak or whatever for daring to include uncomfortable topics in their game, I do agree that maybe the depiction wasn't 100% perfect, but it's better than what we got in chapter two so y'know.
To be fair, you can't get a story like that if you aren't a perverted freak to a degree. Chapter 3 was a rollercoaster in of itself, and we STILL don't even have the final payoff. All of that is in Chapter 4.
Chapter 3 released on April 1st. Some didn't think it was gonna be released, but took a leap of faith and I took two days off to play it. I 100% it on the first day, and damn was it an experience.

To be very fair, it wasn't necessarily his fault. It was heavily implied to be a side effect of an experimental super soldier serum OSI injected him with.
Sargent Hatred, he's a confirmed and consistent pedophile though he's repeatedly confirmed to be past active feeding of his "condition", aside from that he's always hilarious and adds so much to the show and I don't feel wrong calling out people who's favorites are mass murderers like Red Death and Phantom Limb who've not only left children parentless but have totally killed children, half the characters are from a villain organization with hundreds of years of Horrors behind it.
The image given by otaku who watched the anime when it came out, and the anime itself, created the impression that the character and the series in general were for edgy 13-year-olds who thought they were Kaneki, a cold, dark hero who did everything alone and farmed aura, when that's not the case at all. Sargent Hatred, he's a confirmed and consistent pedophile though he's repeatedly confirmed to be past active feeding of his "condition", aside from that he's always hilarious and adds so much to the show and I don't feel wrong calling out people who's favorites are mass murderers like Red Death and Phantom Limb who've not only left children parentless but have totally killed children, half the characters are from a villain organization with hundreds of years of Horrors behind it.
