a clip of skilled tinning

He makes it look so easy but this is α lot harder than it looks I promise

I took an electronics class in highschool over a decade ago, and even with my very limited experience, it's easy to see that this person has been doing this for decades. It's astonishing how clean it looks

Tinning with no component to solder on is super simple....like first day soldering class.

From a country that doesn't produce anything anymore? I believe ya.

    parent root

Off topic, but why is the a in "is α lot" different from the others?

    parent root
    13 points markkawika

I don’t know why this was done, but that letter α is a lower case Greek alpha.

It's a lot different than it looks

    parent root

I made α shortcut in my phone to swap a for α

    parent root
    1 points OnionsAbound

Why is the a that way

    parent root
    2 points FetchMeTheirSoulz

    Your “a” looks weird

    parent root
    -3 points OptiGuy4u

Tinning? No it isn't... 😂. Clearly you've never done it.

    parent root
  • 50 points Firegardener

Isn't that a bit too fast? Those pads don't even warm up enough? 🤔

    parent
    98 points Lusankya

It's just tinning, not bonding. It'll be fully reflowed when the part is placed, and then it'll bond correctly.

Or at least that's my understanding, but I'm not a professional. Just a home gamer with an iron.

    It's true...this is super easy

Where’s it coming from? She uses it up to the end and then a new strand appears immediately. There’s no spool under her wrist or anything.

    parent
    36 points ShelZuuz

The spool is off the table, you can see the wire on the other side of her arm/hand.

    parent root
    5 points blue_dragon_fly

    Got it. I hadn’t watched full-screen.

    Thx

    parent root
    8 points CaptainSpookyPants

She's totally a witch and the wire is absolutely not coming from under the desk

    parent root
    6 points blue_dragon_fly

    I KNEW it!

No flux? Or maybe it was put on before the video started?

    parent
    20 points BioTinus

Probably flux core tin? Would surely invest in that if i had so many parts to do.

    parent root
    3 points fatdjsin

if i had to do this i would PAINT flux on it lol :P

    Flux core solder

    parent root
    1 points joerdie

Flux core solder does not flow like that. I've used it many times.

Curious since I don’t know anything about electronics, but, why would he be doing this? Assuming his job, and mass producing but what is it?

    parent
  • 1 points BloodHurricane

    Not their first rodeo.
