Hi everyone, I’m 28M and was diagnosed with “FND arising from stress” in December 2019. I had anxiety and depression diagnosis prior to that and my anxiety was worsened a lot after a panic attack with weed that was exposed to a dryer sheet in 2018. I’m a hypochondriac but only about my fnd symptoms (full body twitching and pain, extremity numbness and tingling). My symptoms seem to never improve, only slightly get worse over the last six years. Right now I’m on Effexor and lexapro with klonopin as needed. I don’t have speech or movement issues, I have had tremors in my fingers but nothing major and not at rest.
I’ve had every blood test, seen cardio, rheumatology, multiple EMGs, MRIs, CTs, and everything is “normal”. I am waiting on punch test results and heavy metal urine results right now.
My question is how do I actually see progress in reducing my pain? It’s been 6 years of fighting, worry, and frustration with small breaks of weeks where my symptoms aren’t that bad. I can still workout and lift weights every day, I run half marathons and go to work as usual, but the pain really bothers me mentally. The other stuff is whatever but my doctors can’t give a good reason why I’m having such strong pain signals. They just point to anxiety and say I need to work on calming down.
I’m wondering too if I should have my bones checked or more MRIs or look into my blood health too, the mind goes into rabbit holes with possible diagnoses.
Thanks so much ❤️
