I was so thankful to be able to go for this. I had to dig up the photos but I wanted to share them with everyone. Unfortunately now the Square Enix Cafe and FFBE are both gone but I’ll always remember them fondly.
I started playing back in the beta. I remember I had a 3 week job at a university in Kentucky and I had to stand by the windows to get signal. The early days were fun too. Like the community learning how to chain attacks with Orlandu. Setting up a trust farm automation on my iPhone. Lots of fond memories. Season 2 was just SO good. I definitely can agree 2018 and 2019 were peak! I loved the story around Lasswell and Akstar!
Chaining was the worst thing to happen to the game, imo. It was so powerful that the meta shifted and centered completely around it. Which wouldn't be that much of a deal if it wasn't a mechanic that almost required tool assistance.
If they had a function where you could set the frames for your units to attack, I think it would have been fine.
To be honest I did like the chaining mechanic. However, I do think the single worst thing to happen was the switch to the game just being a cycle between COW and DV and the NV era.
One of the major charms of the game were the story events.
Ah man I miss it. I know people were turned off from the 7 star era initially but the rates and deals they had for prisms made up for it. Neo Vision ended up killing the fun for me and I stopped playing late 2020 but so much fun over the years
This is my two cents on the 7 star era, it was off to a rough start, but did hit its stride fairly fast (and I yes I remember us all complaining, but retrospectively it was not that bad of a system).
Like you mentioned, the fact we can redeem them between prisms and a full unit made it palatable along with older units getting 7 star batch awakenings.
I don't understand why they'd put so much effort into these characters and merchandising just to upend it a few years down the road. I know the business side of things between Gumi and Square play a key role in it all, but I sure hope these characters resurface somewhere down the line.
I know it sucks, but I mean global was released in 2016, so that was almost 9 years of service so they got their money out of it. Im sure they will show up in the multiverse games
I wish there were some kind of release for the offline content. I would love to replay the story again. The music in this game was such a wonderful addition to a really nice adventure. Plot twists at every turn!
Truly the peak of FFBE 2018 to 2019 imo

But yeah, those early days were a lot of fun.

I regret not making it over from Vegas, cause I was so close and thought I could just make the next year. Heart break.
I actually bought the Dark Fina and Fina coaster on Ebay earlier this year. It's really cool to see actual photos of someone who actually went.
Steal the Crimson Saber

Agreed, should be standard for all gachas imo.
I wished they would have released a memorial app for global like they did for JP.
This makes me sad..
I miss this game, it's sad to know that all the collecting I've done is gone.
The Chizuru Meta...before the catastrophe of Orlandeu...
I'm crying
I wonder if they'll ever auction that rain sword or something, better than sitting on a building somewhere.
