She has a backstage outdoor habitat she can go to when she wants to visit outside or get away from people. But I love it when she plays inside or takes a nap right by the window. She is just too adorable.

  • Holy moly she’s cute. What animal is she? I swear I’ve seen those at the zoo and there always the cutest thing there.

Yes! That’s what it is. They’re so adorable. She’s a big girl at ten years old. How long do they live?

I believe their lifespan in the wild is maybe around 8-10 years. In captivity their lifespan is greater and the oldest one lived until 23 or 24.

They lost one their oldest red panda Lincoln earlier this week who was 12. Willow is however in good health, they have said she is like a little golden retriever and plays a lot and enjoys life (I can sometimes see a little smile on her as she enjoys running around her indoor habitat) and they said she strongly prefers to be alone. When she was little she was always chasing her siblings off when they came close as she wanted to be by herself. They are mostly solitary animals only coming together to mate.

They also have Sisu, Doofah (I think 6 and 5 years old or 5 and 4?), Mr Darcy and Dr Wallace (7ish months old?) who all live together as a family group. Dad was held backstage until the kids were older and reintroduced and plays with them and they are one big happy family.

Hey, this just occurred to me, but obviously animals in the wild are infested with fleas, ticks, louses or other insects or parasites. But do animals in zoos get treatments or are measures taken to prevent this? I know when one of my cats gets fleas, they spread to all the others, and I give them a anti-critter medicine every month, whether they need it or not, but I am not sure if zoos do something similar. And how exactly would you treat something like a lion for fleas, lol?

Blow dart some sleepy medicine, it's how they do dental work. There also might be type of flea prevention they're able to blow dart but it's most likely just done at the time of their physical check up or if the animal is under for another procedure

Thank you for the reply, appreciate it.

She’s a red panda. They’re one of my favorite animals. So cute and chill.

  • Tell her I love her!
