I’m 7 months postpartum and recently dropped to 4 pumps per day (plus one feed via nursing) but I’m cursed with slow output and have to pump for an hour per pump. I’ve realized that I get slightly faster letdown and empty in 45-50 minutes rather than 60 min when I use breast heating pads, however the Lansinoh ones that I currently use only stay warm for a few minutes at best. Does anyone have suggestions for breast heating pads that stay warm for longer?

  • I would rather check the pump, its settings and parts. Because 1 hour of pumping each time is insane.

It takes me this long too. I have to go one breast at a time and it'll take a while for my body to actually want to let down again. One boob just isn't a champ compared to the other. I can feel when there's milk left in there and need to get it all out otherwise my supply dips.

I agree! But I replace the parts regularly, have experimented with flange sizes and pump settings, and have tried sunflower lecithin with no improvement in pumping time. To be fair I used to pump for closer to 30 min when I was pumping 8x per day but my pumping time has increased as I’ve dropped pumps. I only get 1-2 thin streams per nipple and I pump around 7 oz per pump so I just don’t think it’s possible to empty much faster. But I’m all ears if anyone has any other suggestions!

Wait, only 1 thin stream isn't normal? And I don't even get that every time! No wonder pumping sucks. And my output maxed at about 20oz per day. Well gee.

I’m not sure, maybe 1 thin stream is normal? But I’m pretty sure my pumping time of 1 hour per session isn’t normal lol

  • That looks like it could work! I’ll see if I can find a similar product in Canada. Thanks so much!

  • I wonder if the eufy would work for you? The flange has built in heating so you could have heat on for your entire pumping session.

I have the eufy but unfortunately it doesn’t usually empty me that well and it rips up my nipples even with using different flange inserts
