In my language (Czech), we use "salonní socialista/komunista" which means "parlour/salon socialist/communist". So basically "intellectuals" from middle class who think that they understand working class.
They're just socially acceptable (or at least non-toxic) enough to many younger progressives that them shilling Kylin or Deepin or another Chinese Linux distro would have been kinda awesome. But ofc they have to shill for the cult of apple instead :(
We don't really have "champagne socialists" in Bulgaria.
But we used to have "Червени бабички" or Red Hags- usually retired old people who still voted for the old communist party that rebranded itself to "socialists" out of habit, but even most retired people turned away from them. They are scheduled to be out of power by next election.
The heirs to the communists rarely ran and voted on socialist lists, instead prefering to go to some right-populist parties, but almost never with the Democrats. Middle class intellectuals have always stuck with the SDS and descendant parties (always being called Democratic something) which are usually centrist/center right and liberal/moderate conservatives.
I’ve heard “volksverräter” (people’s traitor) be used but that’s more often than not used by true diehard communists to refer to anything slightly not proletarian
in italy we use radical chic (a broader term indicating wealthy people who engage in ''alternative'' lifestyles) or compagni col rolex (translating in comrades with rolex)
This made me realize that we don’t have champagne communists, or any communists for that matter - well, maybe there are some, but they are too insignificant to deserve their own term. But if someone start spewing communist ideas, they would most likely be called “вата” (cottonwool), common term for everyone who has anti-western/pro-russian views.
The Caviar Left - kawiorowa lewica
I love it!♥️
Love it.
"Socialista de iPhone"
Means "iPhone Socialist" in Portuguese
They always have iPhones and Macs, don't they. They could have chosen a "glorious Chinese brand", but no.

That's brilliant, lol

latte lefty is popular in Australia
As a latte drinker, I'm offended. Why is it always used like some sort of punchline? The only way I can drink coffee is a latte or something similar.
Personally I like "Trust Fund Tankie"

Tontos!
Shiraz socialist. Merlot Marxist. Self righteous cunt. There are lots of expressions.
Cihangir(A rich neighbourhood of Istanbul) Leftist - Cihangir Solcusu
Mastercard Marxist.

I'm British (specifically, English), so it's 'champagne socialist' if we're being polite.
And given that I'm working class, a number of offensive perjoratives if we're not being polite.

Since we're unlucky enough to have them still in power, they're called Government officials
