I wonder why though? Surely they will have experience of what happens if democracy is ruined? Especially in Romania the boomers have experience of horrible regime (decree 770, ceausescu shenanigans in general post il-sung visit)
"65-90 year olds miss socialism, see it was good" is the modern equivalent of saying "65-90 year olds in Mississippi and Alabama miss Jim Crow, we should lynch an innocent black kid" in 1990.
In Romania boomers do miss Communism because "Back in my day everyone had a job & a house for free!", "Back in my day shit got built!", "Back in my day we had industry!", "Back in my day we had no foreign debt!", "Back in my day we were free & independent not slaves of the West!", "Back in my day kids learned something in school and they respected their elders!", "Back in my day food was healthy and organic!" etc.
They don't really care about that. They'd rather have a daddy dictator who throws them a bone than basic human rights.
Hence why they always vote for all sorts of corrupt crooks in exchange for bribes
Gen Z's desire to admire all the worst tendencies of the Boomer generation (including wanting the USSR back for Eastern European types) will always baffle me.
Those statistics are highly contested and very unreliable - romanian here.
I bet
I thought boomers are pure unadulterated evil!
Soviet boomers, who usually ruin their respective democracies.

Funny, most American boomers I know hate communism

I see
it’s the nostalgia fallcy.
"Back in my day if Iistened to western music I would have gotten violated in some securitate prison"
They don't really care about that. They'd rather have a daddy dictator who throws them a bone than basic human rights. Hence why they always vote for all sorts of corrupt crooks in exchange for bribes
I've seen that last year.40% of the country wanted the horse industry and Securitate spies back
old is not gold

Ostalgie?
