• Freedom is Slavery as they say

  • So this is what they mean when "Communism has freedom of speech" (not surprise tbh)

They openly hate freedom of speech

  • I was once told that opposition to communism is 'hate speech and genocide advocacy against the working class', hence not covered under freedom of speech.

If there is one thing Marxist say that I agree with, it is that up to a certain point, dialogue is not only pointless, but impossible, because one side is not only refusing to act in good faith, but actively believe the very concept of 'good faith' is a reactionary social construct. Hence, they can change definitions and make shit up as they go, as they are dead convinced you are doing the same thing.

  • You'd think page about Soviet Union would be about... you know... Soviet Union, good and bad, instead of being about pushing Soviet propaganda.

Imagine if you got banned from US themed subreddit for being critical of Trump.

  • it makes sense from their point of view. we wouldn't want them in this sub either.

The difference is that we tend to just downvote and laugh at them, there’s need to censor them because leaving their mass downvoted propaganda and lies for everyone to see helps expose them for who they are, the fact that they rather censor everyone who doesn’t agree with them just shows them for the oppressors that they really are and that they must be scared that someone with a different more intellectual view might help change the opinions of some in their subs and that exposes the fact that they must acknowledge the fact they know they are in the wrong and are just lying about being the ‘good guys’.

    you have a good point.

I'm just thinking that for some subs (not necessarily that one), it's hard to find a balance between accepting other points of view and not being completely drowned by hostile users. I guess it just depends on each sub at the end of the day.

That’s why I think r/AskConservatives struck a good balance. Only conservatives are allowed to answer questions, but anyone can respond to comments and that opens up debate on those answers without flooding the entire comment section with irrelevant opinions from the people not being asked.

  • I have mixed opinions on this. I really, really, really wish there was a good USSR subreddit. Like one that I could go on with the thought process "you think command economies work, I think market economies work, let's not rehash this for the millionth time, instead lets talk about the steel production statistics from 1945-1960". I more or less agree that a good USSR subreddit should preclude socialism vs capitalism debates or at the very least demand that those debates exist in the realm of heavy empirical data instead of vibes. The problem is that reddit (being reddit) has a billion obnoxious communists that spam subs only vaguely related to left wing politics (seriously, climate subs are chock full of "we need to end crapitalism NOW guise!!!" and sometimes they don't even bother with a climate based justification). So r/ussr has a ton of posts that aren't even about the USSR, which is a shame. I actually remember a post a while back on there where it basically said "if you are a liberal, how do you feel about the sub?" and I had the same opinion, I don't want another commie vs capitalist sub, I want a sub where I can find cool niche information on a country I find interesting even though I find their ideology abhorent.

  • Ideological purity is indeed necessary; the Party must remain stainless of revisionist doctrine.

  • Is curious how each time that someone who lived in the ex urss, iron curtain or a communist country made an ama in one subreddit of communism tend to be banned and be insulted it as a capitalist and fascist propaganda, because those ama tend to reflex that communism was not a paradise ,there was not free speech or freedom and ,where many ineficcient things in the communist regimes.

  • R/conservative 🤝 R/USSR

Legit. I commented on TankieUSSR about how The Soviets didn't really liberate Eastern Europe. Got banned legit within a minute.

Off to the Gulag you go comrade

  • echo chambers require censorship

and are also a fool's refuge
