  • Saw Elvis on Monday night in Montclair NJ. Not sure if he could not here his monitor, but he was out of key quite a bit. Especially when playing solo guitar. He was best when just singing w/Steve Nieve playing. Overall did not like the show at all. Any other opinions of recent shows. Last month I saw Elvis play in Tulsa at a Bob Dylan event, and he was AMAZING.

Just saw him in NY and couldn’t agree more.

I’ll be real, if you’re a fanatic… I mean like you know and enjoy every song of his down to the deepest tracks… this show is for you. But if you just care for the hits like me, it’s a major disappointment.

It took over an hour till my ears were blessed with a recognizable song (Clubland) and at that point I felt like a dying animal getting a smidgen of sustenance to keep alive. But then he went into Accidents Will Happen and the casual fan in me sighed in relief and enjoyment. That was a major plus. Then back to his usual which all sounded the same to me. I noticed similar mannerisms in the way he sings for these unfamiliar songs. He played Alison and finished with What’s So Funny… in his and Steve’s acoustic rendition and a cover which made it about 4 hits for the whole concert.

Overall the crowd was into it and I have to say that objectively it was a great show. But if you are expecting him to shell out the hits… well don’t bother.

sorry to hear. Personally, I can't identify with going to a show hoping for just the hits. Even with ppl like McCartney, the Stones, etc, I would much rather hear something good and interesting than just the same set every year (AC DC has basically been on autopilot for decades...good thing I saw them with Axl). I try to go in without a list of songs to hear (it's hard, I know) and just enjoy what the musician wants to play.

Entertainers play the hits, artists play what they feel.

  • Long shot but I have two extra tickets for tonight’s show at Worcester MA, Hanover Theater. Face value for price. Hit me up, we can meet up outside the venue.

  • Does anyone know why his upcoming tour is called the 7-0-7 tour?

His 7th studio album was called 7 and there are 7 members of the Imposters when including Charlie Sexton. Really looking forward to the show in Houston. I’ve only seen him twice before and it’s been 30 years. First time I saw him was 84 in Rome a solo tour with TBone Burnett opening. I’d say it’s long overdue.
