I cut da locs bruv. now LISTEN I was having a Britney in 06 type of moment and wanted a new start to the year , but ngl it was a load of barnacles. I miss my locs but I already did the whole “burn. from the ashes rise like a phoenix inner monologue” so yes I’m going to redo them and this is *fingers crossed* going to be my last set. I’m just debating how I should start em , comb coil? micro/brother locs , the infamous two strand twist ? who knows find out next time on locball Z!

One way or another you knew you needed a reset. I wish you much love on your new loc journey ❤️
yeah u right , I just wonder how im gotta start this set
Heavy fan of comb coils or a classic two strand start up
Lwk freeform ur shi. Dreadheads inna new era
hmmmm I just might
Dang…. I been on the verge of this myself lately. Job interviews and such in corporate. I don’t want to be putting myself at a disadvantage because i need a good job to support my family.
On one hand, I have never loved my hair as much as I do now. On the other hand, I realize unconscious bias is rampant, especially in WP-dominated corporate circles. If it came down to two candidates, and all other things equal but I have locs, I fear that the other candidate would win.
Appreciate any input.
Aw hell naw . I’m in NYC and I actually have found that I stand out in a good way from my colleagues. My hair is a huge positive talking point and I’m so thankful for that. It’s crazy that in other places people are still up their ass about natural hair of all things. Whatever your path is wish you luck ofc
That’s really good to hear. I’m sitting here right now getting them cleaned up. I’m keeping them.
As you should. In the event that I feel a way about my locs, a very low pony tail is always my go to .
Those locs look thicc , which means your hair is thicc too . If it’s your last set fr do you really want 2 million brother locs on your head to retie ?? That’s a thought. Maybe a set that’s just a bit smaller than traditional. That’s my opinion though ✨
You never will my brother. Its in your heart now. "De que valem o dreads, se as palavras são em vão. O que lhe faz um Rasta, filho de Jah, é a alma e o coração."
Just another step of the journey! Bless up much love from brazil
Im in the same boat as you, gonna go to my barber next week actually. It just feels like the time got a hard reset just to come back stronger. Enjoy the journey to get back where you started, take care of your hair and make sure you have a good healthy base to start with, and just enjoy the new fresh energy yk, you’ll be back in due time lmao
Don’t beat yourself up, man. We’ve all done it atleast once. My chop was 2015. Been back at growing since late 2017
I finally figure out now that this the only hairstyle I feel like fits me
Same. Cool thing is, while you grow em back, you get a chance to experience the low cuts/fades, fro, braids etc… That was how I was reminded locs are definitely my staple.
Low cuts: Meant to be low maintenance but the need for a barber/skill to cut your own hair ends up making it high maintenance in comparison to locs or a fro.
Fro: Low maintenance outside of getting ready in the morning or anything that may involves you wearing something on your head (I’ve had plenty of jobs where I had to wear hard hats, caps or headsets).
Braids: For me, everything I like about braids, I get easier & less painfully out of locs.
This is just me though. With locs you get more for the effort put in as well as more bang for your buck (especially with what haircuts for a grown man with any facial hair costs nowadays). I’m semifreeform but even if I wasn’t, I’d gladly take a retwist every 1-4 months over a haircut every two weeks or having someone Iverson braid me fairly often because I know if I have them too long they’ll look like Jim Jones braids. Locs to me are also the most durable of the choices.
Farewell, hope you find comfort in your new journey 🫡
