Are they going full circle all the way back to the origin of Christianity, the birth of Jesus Christ? I was raised to remember that Christmas is not about presents, but about Jesus. They sound a lot like Christians right now lol
Is every person giving every person a gift a common thing, or just something Reddit makes up. My understanding from my experience with Christmas and that of other Christmas celebrations I've been to is that gifts are reserved for children and spouses or someone extremely close to you. I would never buy a gift for my cousin or uncle or something like that, and they would refuse to accept it if I did. I bought for my wife, my son, and my nephews.
I canât speak for others, however in my family we usually do matching pairs of Pjs on Christmas Eve, Chinese food for diner and board/card games. Sometimes we do ginger bread houses or sugar cookie decorating.
Christmas Day is typically stocking from âSantaâ and secret Santa gift exchanges.
"The most god awful Christmas music they play NOWADAYS"
What do you mean 'nowadays'?! It's the same music that "they" played last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before. Wherever you go, it's physically impossible to escape Mariah Carey or Wham.
I agree with some of this. The forced consumerism, shitty music, and dealing with obnoxious relatives really detracts from the holiday. But I'm not dooming over it.
"Honey, dinner's ready, we're about to serve the turkey!"
"Not now MOM, I'm karma-farming with my poignant critique of consumerism!!"
Christmas when they were a kid was obviously none of these things /s

Thanks for proving the OP's point, Reddit recommendations
Reddit hates AI unless it's making images to condemn capitalism, or the orange man
Not gonna lie⊠the relatives coming over part made me laugh.
I was going to say... they have a point there.
Then don't participate and get each other gifts. No one makes anyone do anything.

Ftr Mariah Carey's have a Merry Christmas song she wrote 20 years ago is the number one Christmas song this year. đ
Kind of sad really. OP must not have a good family.
Worse, they are actually normal people and he just shunned them over a little disagreement that wouldn't even matter in the end.

TBF theyâre 100% right about the music. âChristmas Shoesâ is a war crime
I donât know.
There is no mention of âHappy Holidaysâ or âHappy Decemberâ.
No âthe odd queer/gay/transformer cousinâ in that family pic.
I really donât disagree with most of it but it is very safe IMO for a âmodern Xmasâ meme.
6/10 - Many missed opportunities and a bit weak on the sauce. The effort is there but some more work honing the talent is required.
Happy holidays!
Happy month after November!
Thx
Not my problem that your family are horrible and your local corner shop stays open over Christmas.
"Wow the meaning of Christmas is buried by consumerism" - materialist atheist
Grinch, we know it's you, stop karma-farming on Reddit.
This isnât totally off-base, but the Nativity edit is hilarious boomerslop

What the fuck does Chris Chan have to do with Christmas
Well I do have to sympathize with the doomer here a little, if they are a relative of Chris-Chan
