The most common illnesses among people in the ER are the most common illnesses?

Of course these people don't spend Christmas with their family.

    parent
    39 points InfinityLoo

No, these people are actively looking for reasons to stay home. Their family extends halfhearted invites every year out of love, but they’re the type of people nobody notices when they’re there or else they’re outright annoying to be around.

    parent root
    -2 points TheDonadi

Tbf, I normally live a couple thousand, to 5000+ miles from my family members, so I look for every reason possible to avoid flying most times of the year but especially around the holidays.

    parent root
    -8 points Mountain_Homie

I dislike most of my extended family, but its not a secret. I dont need germs to be the catalyst. They dont pay my bills, they arent intitled to my time.

In the US, ED usually is Erectile dysfunction. We usually call the Emergency Department the ER, so I was confused and then laughed reading this.

My dick won’t stand up. Should I avoid family?

Evidently. But it’s a graph! We have to believe!

    parent root
    1 points NeedAnEasyName

They’re referred to as ER and ED interchangeably in the U.S. among medical personnel. I’d say ED is sometimes used even more commonly.

    parent root
    11 points NoKaryote

I worked in a hospital with an ER and never heard someone shorten Emergency Department to ED.

Oh my goodness! A flu outbreak in December in the Northeast! It’s unbelievable; I never imagined such a thing.

Oh wait, the flu does tend to have an uptick every year. So, there’s nothing to be alarmed about. Go about your business.

Seriously, the flu is a highly mutating virus with numerous strains. While the flu vaccine is effective, it’s not entirely effective against all strains. They formulate it annually based on the “most likely” variants. With so many strains, flu outbreaks are inevitable. It happens every year.

Take reasonable precautions. Wash your hands, stay home if you’re ill, and cover your mouth when you sneeze. These are simple measures that we all learned in grade school.

    parent
    7 points Physical_Reason3890

    Yup

This year unfortunately it looks like the vaccine missed the dominate strain so we are seeing an uptick. But nothing apocalyptic

And people don't even do that little amount of effort

I get if you have someone around you who is ill/ susceptible to disease. I also get if you are actively sick.

But here we go again with people saying not to see family cause viruses spread

    parent
    9 points McBeaster

They'll use any excuse they can to not have to be around people who don't agree with their 100% of their nonsense, all of the time. Like feigning fear of disease, claiming their family members voted for them to be eradicated, or whatever other bullshit their broken brains can muster up. Anything to avoid a reality check that may challenge the outlook reddit told them to have.

    parent root
    6 points everydaywinner2

I think they are afraid they'll catch the antigens to the mind virus they have.

You’re reading a lot into this. Another interpretation could be, “if you don’t want to miss Christmas with the family because you’re in bed sick, consider skipping the big office party”.

You literally want to kill grandma /s

    parent

My grandma died during COVID. Not because of it though. She was 95. They even tested her after she died probably because they wanted to count her but couldn't.

    parent root
    20 points newgalactic

Nope, they still added her to the COVID numbers.

...and submitted her absentee ballot for Harris.

COVID was two years straight of Christmas every day for these people. They live hollow, meaningless, worthless lives spent doom scrolling and being completely impotent wastes of humanity.

All of a sudden COVID comes along. Now not only are there far more people locked inside dooming, but these miserable little worm people finally got a taste of power. They got to wag their fingers at people who are and always have been better than them and scold them about wearing a mask or gathering in groups with other socially passable people.

It's no surprise these wretched goblins are desperate to get another taste of that bottled lightning

Funny that Biden got elected because the American public thought he would be a safer, saner pair of hands to get them through Covid.

    parent root
    1 points boisefun8

The best part of the fact check is that Biden even said it himself, but they leave that out.

Remember folks, Masks work best when YOU are sick or suspect you are sick. (They catch the aerosolized shit best at short range) And For fuck sakes if you are going to wear a mask, COVER YOUR NOSE otherwise its just a face accessory.
