Are your news anchors actually impartial and just report the news? I heard that was a thing but I haven't seen it yet in my lifetime in USA, and I'm 50.
There are propaganda channels owned by billionaires as well but they appear normal, they just spew bullshit. But yes, the majority are factuals, or at least as much as possible, they are public services and not privately owned.
At least that was when I still had a TV, like 10 years ago
Yes ,but they know their audience. You have to use crayons and leave it on the fridge to express the gravity of the situation. Alternately if it's a truly dire issue they use a sharpie on an empty box of wine.
They needed something to draw attention from that one dude’s puce outfit (with rainbow hoodie accessory). Had THAT become popular, I would start thinking the apocalypse IS upon us!
Usually on Reddit, if I’m getting downvoted for what I comment, I know my opinion is what the majority of normal healthy adults think.
Having said that, Sandusky was railroaded
/s
I remember reddit telling me I had max 2 months before shelves were bare and we were rationing food supplies.
People that fall for this shit year in and year out amaze me. Then again they think were in 1940s Germany, that we should let everyone in that wants to come and not kick out the ones who do it illegally and only republicans can be pedos.
Then they wanna be taken seriously when you talk politics.
I had so many remindme’s from during covid of people saying there would be bodies piling up in the streets and mass graves within a few months. Of course all those comments are deleted now.
I clicked on a few of the top comments just to see their comment histories and to my not surprise most of them are still just going at it about the collapse in places like r economics and politics. They just love LARPing about this
It's easier to sell doom than it is to sell sunshine and happiness. It's why most movies that do well show some level of insane corruption in the elite/corps/government etc. It's all bad and therefore true.
While I hate the flow of time, my kids are growing up too fast, I really want 2028 to roll around and Trump to leave office so we can get over the "if we ever have another election" crowd.
The empty shelves never came nor would they ever. Its just the media hyping something to get views. Especially CNN who has on multiple occasions been known to mislead or twist information.
And as I said its easier to sell doom. Thats why the majority of news is negative and why they typically will create a single segment dedicated to something no so negative.
They aren't. They cancel the ship. Or show up only partially full. Blank sailing is when ship doesn't go to it's destination. That's what she was trying to show with her white board magic
What the fuck kind of submission title is that, anyway? Very strange to imply that in order for our shelves to go empty, china has to ship us empty shelves first.
Yeah that whole thread is crazy. The “economics” subreddit and it’s pretty much the most economics illiterate conversation you could possibly find on the topic.
Yep that's totally real shipping routes costing millions per trip are definitely proceeding with zero return on investment as some passive aggressive form of political resistance yes that is how the world functions
I love this - CNN expects people to believe that Chinese shipping companies had ships basically empty but sent them out anyway at their own expense to...what, make the US president not look bad?
Doesn't hold up to 10 seconds of logical thought, and yet they put it on the TV anyway. Ironically, them partnering with Kalshi might actually make them less able to spout irrational obvious lies if they're required to show the betting on what they report on and it constantly contradicts their deranged nonsense.
Wait, I thought the disaster was all the diesel fuel cargo ships burn, and all the plastic stuff coming from China. They really need to get their story straight.
Yeah the “Empty Shelves/Food Riots by Halloween” predictions were a bit of a dud - altho I did hear that Dyno-Bites were sold out in most suburbs with basements….🤔
I love looking at old posts and laughing at the retards. I’ve been ahead of the curve when it comes to AI and basically everyone has been constantly wrong on reddit and will continue to be.
This is actually a good thing when considering the vulgar state of consumerism in the United States And the degree to which it has come to influence supply and demand. Many people don’t need much of what they purchase. A second tv in the house, the latest phone, a festive Christmas sweater, a new pair of shoes to go with the new outfit, another purse, dessert, cigarettes, tattoos, booze, more apps, a game console, a pocket pussy or dildo, a pasta maker, or an automatic air freshener to mask the poo smell in the bathroom as examples.
... Isn't that a GOOD thing? That China has less leverage over US markets?
Or is CNN trying to foster the notion that supporting them is helping keep them from invading Taiwan like increasing ties with Russia would prevent them from invading Ukra- oh right, we all saw how that went...
The same people who doom monger about climate change and panic about the carbon emissions of shipping all our consumer goods from china are now doom mongering that not enough Chinese consumer goods are being shipped in.
Sorry I have Spotify playing so I have know idea what they are saying and I’m just going off of OOPs text. Why would an empty ship sail from china to the US?
Why the fuck is someone writing on a whiteboard on live tv in 2025? Do they not have a graphics team at CNN? A single intern with Nano Banana should have been able to whip them up some infographics in about 2 minutes.
Lmao because people who are in the business of making money commonly spend money on fuel, wear and crew to sail an empty ship across the biggest fucking ocean on Earth and back....
Here is hoping that as the supply chain gaps get filled with domestic production these country club glorified brokers that have feasted on slave labor go belly up
I see everybody making jokes about her drawing but why are none of us talking about the gay dad's nodding their heads and saying thats a very good drawing sweetheart no show us where the bad man's going to touch us on our shelves.
Tbf, this didn't happen because the government cancelled that tariff policy. If they had kept it in place we would've actually had some real economic issues.
Whats really funny an really weird is how they just dont see that all this constant alex jones level dooming by literrly all of them is destroying their party. Its like there desperately trying to figure out a strategy to win. An all they can come up with is to copy what they think won trump they election. All well believing their own b.s. about trump and ignoring the things that actiually won him the election.
Good thing they got that white board out to show an extremely easy to grasp statistic
Did they terif the visual effects guy out of a job too??
The 150% tariffs on pixels really destroyed the industry.
“Hey idiots look at this doodle I’m doing to see how serious this is”
I'm often weirded out when I watch US news, the anchors are sometimes super loud, dramatic and are highlighting obvious shit on a screen...
I have to wonder about the attention span of the target audience
You don't have to wonder. They're idiots. Not unique to Americans tho.
Oh believe me we aren't lacking idiots here in France but the news aren't nearly as theatrical and weird lol
Public/Government-owned media outlets are biased by definition unless you're talking about your city's own public access channel.
There are several channels, the government doesn't have control over them and it's regulated by an independent commission.
We even have a shared channel with Germany.
Who gets to pick the broadcast language. Be careful giving those Germans too much power LOL
Without that hamburger ship I would have been totally lost!
Made me want to cook lunch. CNN is a joke of a network, this just proves it once again.
I thought she was drawing labia. Imagine my disappointment
Mmmm I like hamburgers.
I learned so much!
Also isn’t CNN, the network that prides itself on stupid digital graphics
Yes ,but they know their audience. You have to use crayons and leave it on the fridge to express the gravity of the situation. Alternately if it's a truly dire issue they use a sharpie on an empty box of wine.
Their viewers are stupid, and they still think they're stupider than they are
What an absurd thing to do. You could give me 50 min and no pressure and I’m drawing a shittyass sailboat, couldn’t imagine thinking of doing it on TV
they probably think their viewers are 5 years old
They had to pull out a white board and draw it so the viewer base could understand it 😂
Their viewer base staring at the white board and trying to make it all connect
Ice Cube thinking, "Bitch, that ain't 40 percent. Look more like Fitty "
And the narrative is that Republicans are uneducated.
CNN looking like kindergarten…
They needed something to draw attention from that one dude’s puce outfit (with rainbow hoodie accessory). Had THAT become popular, I would start thinking the apocalypse IS upon us!
I’m surprised it wasn’t Fox News when I saw that 😂
Media fearmongering as usual
Gotta spook shareholders into making money moves somehow.
Not really, this was really what would have happened if the us kept hug tariffs on China like what was going on at the time
My lazy investments have increased by 40% since that video was released. I bet against the doomers just as I did in previous years.
Inverse reddit is the best investment strategy.
This is true, made me laugh.
Usually on Reddit, if I’m getting downvoted for what I comment, I know my opinion is what the majority of normal healthy adults think. Having said that, Sandusky was railroaded /s
This is some crazy cope 😂
The media work for the big funds. They want the market to panic so they can buy cheap
Maybe because trump ended up dropping many tariffs after that…
There's always a reason behind the latest doom and gloom, and there's always an excuse when it doesn't pan out.
I've tuned out this noise for years.
"ships go when they have to go" FFS. They aint trains blocking the tracks. Boats sit for long period of times all the time.
Yeah the San Francisco Bay has like 5 big cargo ships sitting there for a few days either in line to get offloaded or loaded up.
Lmao man I forgot about this.

I had so many remindme’s from during covid of people saying there would be bodies piling up in the streets and mass graves within a few months. Of course all those comments are deleted now.
It’s because everyone took the vaccine! /s
Oh 100% and I bet they will say they never said that now that they deleted it.
You know, all that food that comes from China on huge cargo ships.
California also is a huge food producer.

Partisan rhetoric is not the objective here. We are a diverse group sharing some common ground and that is good thing.
They were right if trump didn’t drop tariffs
[removed]
I clicked on a few of the top comments just to see their comment histories and to my not surprise most of them are still just going at it about the collapse in places like r economics and politics. They just love LARPing about this
Its some type of chemical reaction in the brain to doom that hard or they really hate trump. Maybe both.
One of the top comments was about what goods to stockpile, all recent comments about hand bags they bought
Harassment in any shape or form is not allowed here.

Well, sure. It’s easier to make a good tragedy than a good comedy. And why half of those comedies are satires or mean spirited.
Sadly... probably not. They do this for most presidents. Trump is just dialed up to 20.
Yea I am beyond over it. The entire political spectrum is so polarized these days.
How is this dooming? That was an accurate explanation of what would happen if the tariffs stayed the same at that point
Why would anyone pay to sail across the Pacific for no reason?
They aren't. They cancel the ship. Or show up only partially full. Blank sailing is when ship doesn't go to it's destination. That's what she was trying to show with her white board magic
OOP's username is fitting
Miserable lizards life sucks so bad he wants yours to as well!
Leftists now are taught on a board and a marker lol
Well, for many years teachers used chalk and a blackboard.
Wait are my shelves supposed to be empty?
Almost like there was things that have happened between a newscast from 8 months ago and now.
No because trump dropped his tariffs
What’s more embarrassing? Erin’s whiteboard art? Or the old guy’s purplish colored hoodie?
And the original post is like 8 months old now. Where are the empty shelves that geezer was on about?
No where because things happened since 👍
What the fuck kind of submission title is that, anyway? Very strange to imply that in order for our shelves to go empty, china has to ship us empty shelves first.
3.2k upvotes, do you guys think even one of those people will look back and admit they were wrong? Or just double down on dooming
Yeah that whole thread is crazy. The “economics” subreddit and it’s pretty much the most economics illiterate conversation you could possibly find on the topic.
They were right in context

Just wait another two weeks, then you'll be sorry
Its always two more weeks.
You inspired a new meme post....
I saw that. Cheers bud!
The viewer base.
I would be genuinely humiliated if I was a part of this broadcast or if I was a moron who lapped this up
Last time I saw a guy wearing a blazer and a hoodie, he was homeless. And he robbed me
It’s an outfit that just screams credibility!
CNN viewers definitely needed that whiteboard
niggas thinkin their an economist after watching a segment on CNN on the economy
The MV Walnut is apparently carrying fewer nuts. Got it.
Holy crap. Democrat Pravda is not fair and honest?
Fear mongering is their forte...
Lmao, this was so funny at the time, and it still is now
Wait, I thought the disaster was all the diesel fuel cargo ships burn, and all the plastic stuff coming from China. They really need to get their story straight.
Economy so bad reporters have to draw their own graphics
Yeah the “Empty Shelves/Food Riots by Halloween” predictions were a bit of a dud - altho I did hear that Dyno-Bites were sold out in most suburbs with basements….🤔

erin burnett can still get it. i said what i said. wood.
Sorry but if they’re empty why would they even bother to leave port in China?
Yeah been so much fear this year that never materialized. Who would have thought it was all fake news?
so American Manufacturers will have to start Manufacturing in America, isnt that the purpose of the tariffs?
Who are these two guys? They look like they should be discussing changes to a New York writers fair.

Leftist media treats people like they are 5 years old my god this is embarrassing
Wouldn't that imply they're coming here to purchase products? Also what about the other 60%?
They broke out the white board...
I remember when we all died from this, it hurt
-Comment from the original post
Weird, so if I look at the markets vs 7 months ago if the jobs I should see a huge drop right?
Oh....hm
This is like an SNL skit. Cant be real life.
Thank God there's a white board, though I forgot what she drew. Can you overlay subway surfers gameplay so I can stay focused?
These two look like the forefront of economics in a gentrified neighborhood where all they do is complain about things they cause.
Ahh yes sailing empty ships makes lots of sense. This totally happened.
... Isn't that a GOOD thing? That China has less leverage over US markets?
Or is CNN trying to foster the notion that supporting them is helping keep them from invading Taiwan like increasing ties with Russia would prevent them from invading Ukra- oh right, we all saw how that went...
lol a white board.... really
Why would a shipping company send empty ships across the an ocean? How much do they charge nobody yo carry their nothing?
Why would they send an empty ship? That seems.like a huge waste of money and time.
As we all know, ships and empty containers just teleport to where they're needed when empty and don't have to sail there.

I get my news from CNN
The same people who doom monger about climate change and panic about the carbon emissions of shipping all our consumer goods from china are now doom mongering that not enough Chinese consumer goods are being shipped in.
God I love this sub, exposing the hysteria is noble work
I was watching this on mute and thought she was drawing a labia. Imagine my disappointment
hmmm ok I know 3 people who work in cali ports and they call this bs.
Sure, the San Francisco Bay is full of cargo ships right now. They are several lined up by the oilfield offload port for days now, one after another.
Empty shelves in December 2025.
I love the throwbacks. Good reminders of things that we so unnotable I wouldn’t even remember it in case of “I told you so”
I love the idea of people transporting empty shelves across countries.
Sorry I have Spotify playing so I have know idea what they are saying and I’m just going off of OOPs text. Why would an empty ship sail from china to the US?

Their econ guy is an old boomer wearing a pink blazer and pink hoody with a rainbow flag is so on brand for CNN. All he is missing is the pussy hat.
CNN fear mongering when ratings are down.
So that would mean they were coming here to pick up goods to take back to China right?
Now it makes sense why some bastards in politics were saying shit like "this holiday make sure to save your money," or "spend less," and shit.
I want to see the other end of deal making, what china has said about all the "deals" made with our jackass leader.
So even with the lilac togetherness hoodie and mini white board they couldn't make this real? Not even with the help of Temu Larry David? Dude...
I can assure you that ships are not leaving empty. Anybody with a half working brain would know that
Lmao because people who are in the business of making money commonly spend money on fuel, wear and crew to sail an empty ship across the biggest fucking ocean on Earth and back....
Wow. The drawing really helped my underdeveloped brain understand what's happening. Erin Burnett is a godsend to those of us with far less intellect.
Here is hoping that as the supply chain gaps get filled with domestic production these country club glorified brokers that have feasted on slave labor go belly up
The Ambiguously Gay Economists really sealed the deal on this one.
Bro just drew a koopa shell live on tv
Their viewers are basically children. They need to make drawings for them
Their mistake was getting Larry David on for his expert opinion.
I see everybody making jokes about her drawing but why are none of us talking about the gay dad's nodding their heads and saying thats a very good drawing sweetheart no show us where the bad man's going to touch us on our shelves.
So its not over?
Alright ready up the next empty ship to sail across the world boys!
The ships were so empty they didnt even exist in fact China doesnt exist either so were all fucked
Tbf, this didn't happen because the government cancelled that tariff policy. If they had kept it in place we would've actually had some real economic issues.
Sure. Just gonna sail 1/2 way around the world with empty ships. Sounds logical. Gimme a break .
Whats really funny an really weird is how they just dont see that all this constant alex jones level dooming by literrly all of them is destroying their party. Its like there desperately trying to figure out a strategy to win. An all they can come up with is to copy what they think won trump they election. she’s a horrible artist
They know this shit is a lie, but it pulls at the emotions of the left which is their goal anyway.
Somehow we will survive just fine
Shipping companies love burning fuel on empty ships
Oh no consumer garbage...
As long as there is food people will get used to it, and quickly find alternatives.
Well yeah, cause trump dropped tariffs…
Somebody thinks 40% is an incredibly complex thing to imagine.
Erhmagerd errr nerrr
I was just thinking about this the other day and could find zero discussion on the internet about how this never happened... until now
