Hi,

I had this game running flawlessly on dolphin last week then I had to tweak some settings for F-zero now for the life of me I cannot figure out why it's suddenly microstuttering. Everytime I select a menu options or when someone moves in a match the audio hiccups and there's a microstutter.

PC specs: I9 9900k

64gb ddr4 ram

does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? I also have the cpu core clock at 100% and dual core disabled in the emulator settings itself.

  • Remember that per game game graphics settings exist. Right click a game in Dolphin, click properties and customize graphics there for each game instead of the universal settings.

The hack tab is missing from your screenshots, but I don't see anything wrong with the rest. I would turn off "Enable Graphic mods" in the Advance tab if the game doesn't use them (just in case, a texture pack doesn't count as a Graphic mod). With "Enable graphic mod" on, performance takes a hit even if the game is not using a mod. Also, I think Vsync should be on and "arbitrary mipmap detection" should be off by default unless the game use it. Your settings are really low for such a system, you could use a way higher resolution.

  • The wiki states it is not recommended to use Nvidia with Vulkan + HUshaders. This is still actual?

I don't see that on the wiki unless i'm using the wrong one. either way it doesn't seem to make a difference :(

    • Hybrid Ubershaders greatly reduces Shader Compilation stuttering by swapping in Ubershaders when a specialized shader is not generated, and then generating the specialized shader in the background. When that specialized shader is finished, it is used instead of the Ubershader. By using Ubershaders only for objects without specialized shaders, this keeps the performance impact of Ubershaders at a minimum. For NVIDIA GPU users, due to Pipeline Swaps in Vulkan and quirks with the NVIDIA driver this option is not recommended to be paired with the Vulkan backend as there will still be stuttering.
