It could work, the cable management just needs to be redone, and maybe paint the cables, conduit, and concrete a unified color. Kind of feels like they just stopped 60% of the way there.
Whenever I've done "industrial chic," it all gets painted black. That's to mimic all the, you know, dirt and soot that's collected on the ceiling after decades of building use. It is the dumbest tjing ever. Also, everything is done in conduit save for Mc tails to the lights out of a jb.
Sure it's ugly. But more importantly it's large, open, and well-lit.
Also the bare look is a plus, from a certain point of view. Best case you can decorate it to your taste. Worst case it offers no distractions from the focus of the event.
I gotta say, I'd be prettt distracted by the idea of all that dust falling into my food and all those shitty lights snapping and plummeting onto my head
It looks like an acoustic nightmare. Mirror panels over concrete walls, concrete columns, concrete ceiling, and I'm sure the floor is also concrete. Get a bunch of people in there for an event and they'll all just stand around saying "what?" to each other the whole time.
Whatever function is being held there right now probably just didn't care about the decor or vibes. I'm sure actual wedding planners and decorators can easily pull off one of those dim hipster overpriced burger joint mood.
Yeaaaaaa the fire marshal would have something to say about that last photo. Electrical wires are not supposed to be touching fire equipment.
***Side note, maybe this venue is crazy cheap.
Yikes. Looks like a low budget, low effort corporate party you're forced to attend at the company's warehouse, where you'll be eating from paper plates and drinking from cheap 180ml plastic cups while hearing a rich person say how much he values the "family" that is the company.
I don't see how a simple drop ceiling would have taken away from the industrial look they are going for. Industrial doesn't mean it has to look like shit.
nah your thinking those shitty square panel looking numbers. nah a drop ceiling is just any ceiling that runs below the actual ceiling. you can do it in drywall or whatever. Plus then you can actually insulate and not lose all that heat to the bare ass concrete.
Yeah nah dawg lolol. Whatever drop ceiling is not going to look as industrial as exposed beam, which is the definition of the look. We don’t know what’s above this to say whether insulation here is a good or a bad thing. In any case, the concrete will be miles better than all the windows you can see in the pics. Most important, the heat retention of this space is hardly the point here. I love it when people chime in with absurd opinions.
Welp, they really nailed the industrial warehouse look
yeah.... Triangle Shirtwaist Factory vibes. I mean at this point I gotta check to make sure the doors don't lock from the outside.
I guess the more people are not used to real work anymore they find it chique to be surrounded by more or less real workplaced in private.
I think a lot of contractors get exposed industrial chic confused with laziness
What, you mean slapping some Edison bulbs on unfinished rooms doesn’t work?
i mean, evidently it does
derelique
Derelick my balls
poverty-esk
Imagine all the dust on all the cords never being cleaned off.
It’s to give the place a more authentic feel
Industrial-cheap
They forgot to include "fire hazard" in the naming.

I think I get it.

I actually like the grunge of the whole thing, but this deserves to be an underground rave club, not a mainstream wedding venue.
Too many windows, too. Gotta commit. Make it more oppressive.

That could be also used as an argument that people should go naked.
And you are totally right.
Whatever function is being held there right now probably just didn't care about the decor or vibes. I'm sure actual wedding planners and decorators can easily pull off one of those dim hipster overpriced burger joint mood.
I'm curious, what makes this venue popular?
the dim hipster overpriced burger joint vibe.
This is wild I got married here nearly a year ago to the day. 🤣 It photographed nicely in our pictures!

Seems the insurance doesn´t want to pay after the water damage from the neighbour above.
Crusty stuff, Rusty stuff, cobwebby corners
This is another electrical intersection in India…
I like it
I do, too.
Walls on downward: Event venue
Ceiling: Nine Inch Nails music video
When you want a Fallout 4 settlement style wedding 😂
CONDUIT, I BEG OF YOU. Or even any kind of cable management putting it flush to other ceiling elements.
Everything beyond the wires everywhere is personal taste. But who seriously thought that spiderweb of spaghetti was a good idea?
There’s a wedding venue like this near me and it has such bad acoustics and is incredibly loud.
A fad that make some people kinda lose their damn minds.
In all fairness, if it's the most popular venue in your town than I think you know the "why".
Not saying it looks good, but what sells is what sells.
Was this before or after the industrial German underground rave?
I hate naked filament bulbs/ fixtures. You look up once and you get a spot in your vision for the rest of the night.
Looks like the headquarters of the Big Wedding / Edison Bulb complex.
It’s fine, and nobody is looking up past the bright lights anyway.
I always look up! That is where the bad guys hide...
Ha! Sound like an ex of mine.
At least the lamp lady would approve.
(from Alan Wake)
I like the lights. The rest still needs to be trimmed out.
I recognize the sockets as Ikea Jällby.
Never thought a wedding venue can be described as dingy

Chic is certainly a bold choice of word.
Industrial chic is just unfinished construction with good PR. Slap some Edison bulbs on it and suddenly it’s a wedding venue.

Drop ceilings look like shit, and are the opposite of this look. Gross.

it don't mean a thang if it ain't got that stain
