I give a pass to projects like this. This is more of a hobby project that one does for fun, rather than because it's cheaper or easier (which it isn't, on either count). Plus, the bonus is that they didn't do anything egregiously wrong or anything just for the clicks.
There are probably minor things that they could have done better, but the resulting project clearly works, so that's another point in their favor.
I didn't see the title, but I meant the methodology in the video. There wasn't any weird use of body parts, cement, dental alginate, plaster, and so on. It was all fairly competent work that accomplished the core task required.
You “learned it” suuuuure 😉 I’m just playing 😆 crazy you learned it at 14 tho, that’s too soon! I had to have been in my mid 20’s when someone had that nail and I just had to ask (someone else not the owner 😆)
"Make a free water heater from PVC pipe and cans...and glue...and copper piping...and rivets....and metal brackets....and brass fittings...and flexible tubing. All free!"
Yeah, I don't really see how the water in the plastic container is moved through the copper coil. Maybe it's boiling inside the can and that steam rises up through the coil providing a pumping action at least until the pressure in the plastic container gets too high?
this... is just a fun project. It doesn't look like a 'hack' or anything. Sometimes it's fun to make things, even if they're more work and less convenient.
Ugh. It's not just what they're building (is that plastic even food-safe?), it's the way they're building it: running the drill on low and really pushing that drill bit through the tin can. It's so stupid. Just set the bloody thing on high and let the drill bit do the actual work.

I agree with everything you said, except there's something in there just for the clicks, I think: the egregious double coke nails. (1:50 mark)
You mean aside from "billions of people don't about this method..." click bait title?

I think that’s the heart of diwhy though. Pointless and overcomplicated projects.
Just heat the water directly with the alcohol burner.
For science!
"make a free water heater from cans and PVC pipes"
free
I hope it's not just me, but I really dislike that one of his hands are trimmed but the other is not
cocaine users will use their pinky nail to scoop/sniff with
cocaine baybeeee
Y’all notice the coke pinky fingernail? He’s definitely doing some blow for “inspiration”
ya, i wondered if anyone else noticed - he kept it hidden for the most part.
so obvious when its the pinky and the others are neatly trimmed.
idk, i learned about it from an ex-con coworker when i was 14, working at mcdonalds

you work part time with moms, excons and mentally disabled people
Just saw one of your ex-coworkers:

When I was 14, McDonald's coffee spoons were so perfect for cocaine bumps that they changed the design to a flat paddle. True story.
How dare people have fun hobbies.
"Make a free water heater from PVC pipe and cans...and glue...and copper piping...and rivets....and metal brackets....and brass fittings...and flexible tubing. All free!"
right?
couple hundred $dollarbux$ in supplies shown, i think.
I know tap water is cleaner but I just prefer the taste of bottled water mixed with melted plastic and glue
Mmmmmm leached plastic and glue chemicals.
Average Nestle water then?
Thought this was gonna be a cheap still but nope its just a boiler.
Wouldn't that take ages to heat the water, because the water isn't moving through the tubes.
And what do you do if starts to boil in there. If the pressure gets to high, it could blow up, no?
Yeah, I don't really see how the water in the plastic container is moved through the copper coil. Maybe it's boiling inside the can and that steam rises up through the coil providing a pumping action at least until the pressure in the plastic container gets too high?
But yeah, I don't see any pressure relief.

I see a dangerous boiler with no pressure relief.
Billions of people don't know that you can heat up water in a metal can?
A true DiWHY for sure.
WHY DON'T YOU JUST USE THE ALCOHOL TO HEAT THE WATER DIRECTLY???
Ngl the aesthetics are pretty pleasing if you're into this sorta thing
"Make a water heater for free out of this stuff you have to buy."
Some people just enjoy building things.
I have that exact same thermometer!

thanks OP. I have been wondering how I can increase my plastic intake. A credit card a week feels like sucker numbers. I know I can do better.
