Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs.

DEVIL MAY CRY 2 REMAKE LETS GOOOOOOO
DMC 2 REMAKE FIRST ENTRY IN SERIES TO SELL 1 CHOPPERILLION COPIES!!!

Ngl, if Capcom redid the Infested Chopper into some form of level pursuer that destroys various buildings in an attempt to kill Dante, thus creating the materials that Nefasturris needs to build itself, that would be a killer set piece
I had an idea of it starting off kind of similar to the original fight. Pursuing you, gunning at you like in the original and chasing you to the top of a building. And initially, you're just shooting at him.
But then after a couple of hits to the initial healthbar it pulls a Geryon and changes. Forcing the fight to the street as it drops down, mutating into some kind of big bi-pedal metal and flesh fused monstrosity wielding the Helicopter rotor like a buzzsaw and turning it into a proper bossfight.
I'd be absolutely fine with that being the first remake we get so it's actually a good game and fits in the timeline properly without just being basically irrelevant.
Honestly, it would be awesome, For me it certainly needs it more than DMC1 for example, because while that game may be old, it is still fire nonetheless.
This will be the first remake that’s actually needed
Hopefully. Any chance this is announced at the Game awards?
DMC2 remake specifically? Probably 7% chance
Something DMC game related? 45%
The anime… good 60-75% chance
Anything above 0% is a chance 😎
remakes of the og 3 would go so hard, 1 and 3 can stay basically the same but with better graphics and a less shitty arkham fight, although i wonder how 2's story could change considering how little it affects the canon. but if they don't change it at all... uhh...
BOOTI PLS PLAY DMC2

I’m typically against remakes because of the anti-art culture around them, but with Kamiya returning for the new Okami game, I do have to admit, the idea of Kamiya leading a DMC1 remake project is intriguing to me.
Well...until you realize he is not a fan of current Dante because it's not his Dante. Unless I'm mistaken (I could be. I'm not a pro at recognizing Japanese humor) but dude actively talked shit about Modern Dante didn't he?
I mean he could Remake DMC 2 as well and do what he wants there.
As long as it's consistent with Cannon that wouldn't bother me personally
It won't be consistent with canon lol. Remember that basically everything after DMC 1 for Kamiya is non Canon.
I mean he's always had his own ideas for how his world of DMC works but DMC is an established series now with it's own continuity.
He truly doesn't get a choice in the matter, if he's remaking DMC1 or 2 he's only changing things in those games, Hell even RE 3 remake (which I think kind of sucks) only effects RE3, it's not rocket science
like look I don't know if I want Kamyia on DMC 6 (and frankly from the sounds of ealier comments from him neither does he) but this is pretty ludicrous dude.
You act like if you turn your back on him he's going to make DMC5 non cannon.
Besides he's only ever shown interest in DMC 1, he's said before the rest of the series is pretty much someone else's work entirely.
I, personally don't care for game canon as much as many people here. The only thing I do care about is game consistency.
Considering the trajectory of DMC, even the reboot was a competent Action game. I, personally, have a concern that if Kamiya were to come back, that DMC 1, instead of taking from DMC 3, 4, or 5 for mechanical inspiration, would go a different direction.
I mean, that's what I would want, DMC 1 is unique to the other games in the franchise I'd want a Remake to be faithful to that, if it gets remade I don't really want it to feel like it's just DMC5 with a DMC 1 coat of paint.
that's the thing though, if they change anything about 2's story it would be impossible to keep it with canon because nothing happens in it that gets referenced later, if they change it to have meaningful development and memorable characters it would be really weird if everyone just forgot about it in dmc 4 and 5
Not if it's only focused on Dante and Lucia.
It wouldn't contradict anything already established, could easily be a self contained story, maybe make a slight mention how Trish has been gone for some time, like the 2007 Anime implies
Even if he was, so what. Should be be excluded from the series?
There are people who are fans of 1 Dante that don't care for his portrayal in later games. Are those opinions not valid?
That's a strange way of putting it. I'm not one for exclusion, but I am all for recognizing that some people just don't have the same "love" for a character that the fans our consumers do.
It's very much akin to the DCEU Zack Snyder issue. Zack is a great director, but is absolutely the wrong choice for superhero media because he actively hates what they represent. He doesn't believe they are realistic and thus wanted to share his view of superheroes via Superman and Batman good bad or ugly.
If Kamiya, the guy who made DMC, were to come back, remake DMC 1, there is a strong change it would not be the action game we recognize, it could very well become CLOSER to Resident Evil in gameplay but with supernatural demons instead of action based character gameplay.
Kamiya DID make Beyonetta yes, but she is obviously was meant to be that for HIM. Dante, to knowledge was not that for HIM.
I just questioned why you brought it up.
"If Kamiya, the guy who made DMC, were to come back, remake DMC 1, there is a strong change it would not be the action game we recognize, it could very well become CLOSER to Resident Evil in gameplay but with supernatural demons instead of action based character gameplay."
That makes no sense.
How not? DMC started as a Resident evil game.....
Kamiya didn't want Devil May Cry to be Resident Evil nor has he made Resident Evil game in decades. It's a dumb point.
I love how history is being rewritten by folks online.
Where?
Was Devil May Cry not supposed to be RE4? It was only shifted because some of its elements elements were different from the core of RE. He was the Director from start to finish. He was the director of RE4, which changed to DMC 1.
Am I high? Is history distorting?
Oh god, don't tell me that. He can turn turn Dante into the new Viola...
Nero already exists.
Not insecure enough
I mean based
I'm curious by what this means, could you explain it better?
Not sure if this is what they mean but in the demon souls remake bluepoint made changes because they thought they had a better vision than the original developers.
Imagine if the devil may cry 1 remake comes out and they change the marionette's to some generic demons
How many people made Devil May Cry 1? How much time and effort did they put in? So much work, so much effort, all for it to be rendered null if a remake comes out because nobody will play the original over something newer and shinier. Art that exists to replace another piece of art isn't right imho.
As long as they don't delete the original from storefronts it's fine, providing a more modern entry point for new fans and reimagining things that were obviously limited by the tech of its time can be a great thing.
I love DMC1, depending on the day of the week my favourite game of the series is 1 or 3, but I admit that reccomending people a 24 years old PS2 game isn't exactly easy.
It isn't easy but the "art" part of it is a different discussion in general. The original doesn't disappear but in the grand scheme of things - a remake will be the default go to thing for all the future generations (well I doubt dmc is going to stay relevant for that long but the idea is that a modern reimagining will inevitably overshadow the original in public consciousness through things like search algorithms etc)
You search up Resident Evil 4 or Demons Souls nowadays, go to the images section and see that a good chunk of it is remake stuff.
I don't get how this is a bad thing.
Provide a way for people to still play the original and that's it, you want to play the more modern one? Go ahead and play the remake. You want to experience the original product and see how the series started? Go ahead and play the original one.
Obviously it's a game to be enjoyed first and foremost, if someone's more into a potential DMC1 remake which plays more like 5 than 1, that's to be expected.
I, and the comment you were responding to earlier, are talking about it from the art angle. I mentioned cultural displacement (like Demons Souls remake showing up more in search results than the original while being quite different stylistically) and the overall "we know better/can do it better now" attitude, as well as "modern = better" from consumers is just at least somewhat bothersome.
I'll clarify though that technically the original has already left its mark, DMC will be forgotten at some point but the influence it had will stay forever. So in that way a remake doesn't undo that
yeah except how many people have been put off by dmc because the one everyone tells them to start with is old and clunky and difficult to get into if you didn't already like it/have extreme patience?
bit of a weirdly gatekeepy take when more people having the ability to experience something is always a good thing, and if people are so desperate to play the old one, they can play the old one, if people don't want to, who cares?
i hate that so many people tried to get into the game using 5 after the anime just because it's the best looking and best controlling, because the story is important and makes no sense if you start from the last in the series, but if that's the experience they want, that's what they want
Would it be weird to say that I don't really care how many people are put off by it? Nor do I care which game they play first, up to them. Ideally it shouldn't be 5, yeah, but it's not like I can do anything about it. DMC will never have the mainstream numbers anyway, it's a niche franchise which, despite that, still has sold millions of copies. It'll be fine. If someone actually wants to get into it they'll get into it one way or another
Anyway, that wasn't really the point of discussion. The point was the art angle. A remake by definition is not the original and yet it replaces it and becomes the main point of reference going forward despite not actually being the same. Nothing is stopping a remake from being great or arguably more fun even - I've played dozens of hours of RE 4 remake as a recent example. But from the respect for the art angle, it is still kind of sad to know the original is no longer at the forefront as its own achievement.
I haven't played Demon's Souls myself but I do know that it had a somewhat grounded aesthetic in places, castles inspired by some Spanish fortresses with plain looking walls, etc. Unique in its own way because most castles in media tend to be these grand, elaborate things. Well now if you search up Demon's Souls you get pictures of the remake which is, surprise suprise - full of big ass, gothic, elaborate looking castles. And I do like me some big ass gothic castles but it's simply not representative of the original despite sharing the name and dominating the search algorithms.
Having played Bayo3, I have mixed feelings about his potential involvement
Kamiya did not direct Bayo 3.
Kamiya said on X he was very involved. Not sure if X is allowed here, so I'm just gonna copy and paste
"I have A LOT to do with Bayo 3, too. "

Why would they choose to remake DMC1 over DMC3?
If I could pick any DMC game to remake obviously 1 or 2 but 3 is not only the start timeline wise but it’s also easily the most popular one similar to MGS and them remaking MGS3 idk just seems clear to me if any game was to be remade it would be DMC3
Capcom is the same company that remade RE2 over 1 and also RE4 over Code Veronica.
Capcom didn't remake RE2 before they remade RE1 though, RE1 received a remake around when the original RE4 released.

DEVIL MAY CRY 6 LETS GOOOOO (OR DMC1REMAKE)
That statue might be a tease to dmc 6. Watch it also end up being related to Sleep Token somehow, since they also use those rune like symbols. Sleep Token was unexpectedly used for the hype trailer
I still think that statue is either going to be for a new IP or the resurrection of something really old. If it's true that no-one has correctly guessed yet, then it won't be DMC. Also nothing about the portal really screams 'DMC', outside there being some generic demon skeletons on it which, again, aren't really a DMC thing.
Any of the 2 would be sick news.
Or even a fix of the current "hd" versions, but that is for sure not going to happen.
DEVIL MAY CRY 6 AT THE GAME AWARDS TRUST
Likely Switch 2 ports of DMC 4 and 5
I’d be cool with that, especially if they add more features like they did with the DMC3 switch port
I mean they only add style change to DMC 3 because all of them were already on the game. I don't think we gonna get new weapons or styles etc.
BP co-op would add a lot of replay value with the five and four chars respectively.
Likewise I think they should add the weapon wheels. It'll prove variety in how Dante and Vergil play. Heck, maybe they could add something similar to Nero.
I think it would be cool if they gave Nero a few moves with Yamato
Feel like DMC4 should run fine on Switch 1 tbh
It's not that much beefier compared to other games the console handles well
Yeah if it can run Bayo 3 should be able to run DMC 4
Hopefully DMC3 switch will be available on all platforms too
What if Nintendo secretly funded freestyle mode and it's stuck on their consoles only just lile the later Bayonetta games.
If the DMC3 for Switch exclusively has style changing. What if the DMC 4 port has completely revamped level design bug ONLY on Switch 2.
We're so back
I’m hella suspicious of how often DMC1 Dante has been used in official Capcom art over the last couple of years. Feels like a DMC1 remake is coming.
DMC1 is the most popular title in Japan and also the trendsetter. They use it for promos all the time.
If they’re remaking DMC games, then they should only remake the first two. DMC 3 is fine as it is.
DMC 3 could have a remaster instead, just a few QoL, fix the damn hair transparency from the HDC and better graphics (?)
mods already do that
Not exactly, at least not graphically.
Plus, mods don't work on console and updates break mods
there're mods to fix hair transparency, switch playable models with cutscene ones, fix the moon texture, fix m20 sky texture etc.
Mods not working on console is a good point, yeah, but HD collection is too new for another rerelease, I think.
I guess you're right. Though I was thinking more "complete graphical revamp"
As far as I get people would like s remaster of 1 and 3 mostly, because the atmospheres and general gameplay are overall liked enough
DMC2 truly needs something done. Though I'm not against "fixing" DMC1s combat to be more in line with current ones. It doesn't need to, but honestly it would be the only part of the game that could use change without people complaining. Giving Dante a bit more combo potential and maybe some weapon changing on the fly would like do wonders for combat in general.
It's no different from 1.
DmC 2 is coming out soon!
be gone from me vile man!

But I assure you, MY COPE HAS NEVER BEEN STRONGER
I’m only okay with a DMC1 remake if it’s Kamiya heading it tbh
Same tbh.
Ditto.
Hopefully it’s DMC6 but I’d be fine with ports of DMC4, 5 and reboot on switch and maybe DMC3 switch edition on all platforms. Remakes… just do 2

Gonna need to fix this image now!
thats so fucking based
"Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney"
Such as. So not limited to just those. Basically they're saying that no IP is off the table in terms of new titles or ports.
I PRAYED FOR TIMES LIKE THESE
They have so many IP I surely hope they others a revival even just a AA budget. The fact they allow parh of the goddess game which seems experimental, they really should the old ones a re-introduction.
So in the article they explained that they are going to be working on sequels, remakes, and ports, all of them are very welcome. Personally I think the best course of action would be DMC4 and 5 ports to the switch 2 (most likely in the next year or two hopefully), then a DMC1 remake before anything else, because with the influx of new fans that have come and will come to the franchise cuz of the anime, I think it’s better to have the first game be remade for all the new fans who don’t really want to play 20 year old games (even though they 100% should), I expect this to only come out in 4-5 years, then after DMC1 remake development reaches a good point, DMC6 should start early development. Once DMC6 releases then they should just continue with a DMC2 remake and then maybe a DMC7, but that’s too far into the future to think about right now
We're never getting another Dino crisis are we....

STRAIGHT INTO MY VEINS, CAPCOM I NEEEEED ITTT!
CAPCOM JUST REMAKE DMC2 AND MY LIFE IS YOURS! (or dmc1 too as kamiya said he'd like to do it) I think for now I'll like a remake for the two rather than dmc6 because itsuno is no more involved.
ngl, might just be the dmc3 remake, cuz check out the news with the voice actors and what he said, match the details and you'll think the same. https://www.notebookcheck.net/Dan-Southworth-Vergil-may-have-teased-a-Devil-May-Cry-3-remake.959698.0.html
What works better is something that can eventually shoehorn in Darkstalkers 4.
And DMC vs Bayonetta.
A new NES-like Mega Man entry with the classic way of playing. Gamers need to be oriented of how games are actually played and not be pampered with handholding features.
They should also bring closure to DmC properly.
CAPCOM REMAKE GODHAND AND MY LIFE IS YOURS (IF OKAMI CAN COME BACK SO CAN GODHAND)
DMC1 and DMC2 could be totally eligible for remakes, 2 should honestly just be remade from the ground up while fleshing out and keeping the characters and story beats while 1 could do with some balance/gameplay adjustments.
DMC3 is fine as is, a freestyle mode that isn't locked behind a Switch port would be amazing. Maybe it be unlocked after beating the game, while giving the player a headstart or bonus on leveling the rest so you're not stuck with mostly level 1 styles on the harder difficulties? I'd prefer if the weapon switching was kept as is though, or at least have it also be restrained behind a first playthrough, it's a nice means of increasing combat capabilities as the games progress.
DMC4 could use a fresh coat of paint as well, a remake would be unlikely but I'd love to see how the game could turn out if it was given more time. Imagine actual Dante-specific bosses for the Devil Arms instead of repeat fights, or if Dante took different routes instead of Nero's but backwards...
I don't really know how they could do a DMC6, though. The story has a pretty solid conclusion at this point, with Dante and Vergil decidedly in Hell, Lady and Trish picking up Devil May Cry, and Nero and Nico heading the mobile front. I want to say that there's potential for a joint story that picks up where DMC5 left off, with Dante and Vergil descending through Hell and Nero fighting the remaining demon presence up top, but I don't really know how they could make a story about that. Maybe Mundus returns, or something about Sparda regenerating with the combination of DSS and Rebellion??
Dragon's dogma fans on suicide watch
Their statement doesn't exclude DD. And DD had a new release just last year, so it doesn't really make sense to mention it in the same sentence as franchises that haven't had a new title in 5, 7 and 8 years.
We are about to be 4 console generations away from the ps2 and we still can't emulate the emotion engine properly, all I want is a DMC 1-4K collection with the first 4 games with native 4k with no graphical issues, not remakes
