I signed up for the Monzo Ireland waitlist before Christmas but my queue position hasn’t moved at all and it’s a fairly small wait I have.
I’m not too sure if it’s a problem with mine and I’m stuck or if it is a problem in general. Has anyone moved up the queue from the number that was originally provided?
Can't wait to get access!
EDIT (Jan 11th 2026) - got invite! We're in.
Any reason to use it if I’m already on Revolut?
Their customer service is 10000 times better than Revolut. Also their interest rates are seriously competitive (conscious this is UK specific but hopefully they offer same kind of rates for Irish customers)
Customer service might make me move. I’ve never had any issue with my Revolut account but you do hear bad stories….
I find the app is just nicer than Revolut. But Revolut has way more features.
I feel like they offer the same thing at the end of the day, I just love Monzo's brand and ethos. They do a lot 'for the greater good' imo in the financial industry...plus Revolut basically ripped all of their features off anyway (Vaults came from Pots etc)...Monzo is just a fun brand! Hate the sterile 'tech bro' of Revolut haha
Way too much belief in their marketing bullshit.
I think he's just a guerilla marketing shill lol
I don't understand why there's a queue for an online platform, surely that's a red flag already?
I'm not sure about you, but I think it might just solve the gaping hole in my identity
Probably to do with KYC or some other compliance step.
Company marketing schill
Ah ok. I’m the opposite. I hate the Monzo brand, very English “fake fun”. I want my bank to be a bank. Would switch if there were great features but not for the brand.
As someone who lives in the UK and used both, their app is a lot better (the UI actually makes sense and it's easy to find what you're looking for), and their customer service is miles better than revoluts. Only thing revolut has over monzo is perks I would say.
The overuse of emojis in support chat is sickening

They’ve been granted a full Irish banking licence. Revolut were refused after bragging for years they were almost there because they didn’t meet central bank guidelines. Probably something to do with their atrocious customer service and (lack of) fraud resolution
What? Revolut have an Irish license and have for a while.
Nope, they’re still operating here under their Lithuanian banking licence. They made a big song and dance a couple years ago about their Irish banking licence coming soon but then went totally quiet when it was denied by the central bank and withdrew it.
Edit: link
They may be operating under the Lithuanian licence, but they're still regulated by the Central Bank in Ireland with deposits secured like any other bank.
They’re regulated by the European Central Bank. Yes they are still covered by the deposit guarantee scheme for deposits up to 100k. But it does make you wonder why they don’t meet Central Bank regulations to obtain an Irish banking licence when they’ve been here for so long. They’re also having trouble getting approved for one in the UK. Monzo have just started operation here and they already have one. So take that as you will, I’d rather not take risks.
They are governed by the Irish central bank for conduct and business rules for products and services in Ireland. They withdrew their application for an Irish licence. It wasn't rejected as you alluded to. It was a business decision based on market size and the time it was taking to secure the license. They don't need it to operate in the Irish market. They have an EEA (through their Lithuanian licence) which is all they need. They already have a UK banking license, various e-money licenses across multiple jurisdictions and a currently have pending applications for banking licenses in other larger markets like France. You've imagined a scandal with no basis in reality.
Again incorrect, they were granted a restricted banking licence in the UK for 3 years in 2024. And yes they withdrew because they did not meet central bank regulations. I was a Revolut user back when they were bragging about their imminent Irish banking licence coming. It never did.
So they have a UK banking licence? So I'm correct? Christ you're confused. What do you mean "did not meet central bank regulations"? There was no ruling one way or another. The application was withdrawn because they secured an EEA licence that allowed them to operate as a bank in Ireland. You've imagined this "failed regulations" part entirely. They have an EEA licence and can operate as a full bank across the EEA the same way Monzo can because of their Irish baking licence.
They already had that before they even applied for the Irish one through Lithuania. How else do you think they were already operating here? And no a restricted banking licence in the UK is not a full UK banking licence. It’s in the title, it’s restricted. They don’t have access to the lending market and users can’t hold any more than 50k in deposits there.
Ooh I see thanks.
Looks like they’ve been onboarding 100 users a day so far this week.
Looking at the community forum, it looks like the feature set for now is pretty minimal. No IBAN, no transfer functionality, just the ability to top up with another card, make payments and withdraw at ATMs. IBANs coming soon apparently, which I assume will bring transferring in both directions along with it.
This!
I’ve apparently moved up the list 300 places from ~2,500 to ~2,200
Huh, now that u mention this, i checked mine and ive been also moved up
I'm at 699
Nicee!
I got offered an account today, was in the 600 last week.
1150 ish….. are they actually in operation ?
Just got accepted there
how are you liking it? It seems a bit limited in terms of features (I know it's a limited product).
Approved today!
Thoughts?
To move up the waitlist:

this is just a referral link. It won't help moving through the waitlist
Probably they will skip some of the queue tho

I’ve moved up 300 places but still gonna be a while it looks
I assume the onboarding will ramp up after a week or 2.
Update: Got invited to join!
