This is a good article but it needs a proofreading pass. The buffs, debuffs and constructs section should also have brief explanations of what each of those things does.
Why not in game where these mystical new players would actually benefit from having a guide? The moment they need to pull up an external guide is the same moment they uninstall.
The magic behind the games you listed are the exploration aspect. Destiny no longer has that, indicated by the external guide. So why not include that guide in-game?
You mention diablo so poe2 is a perfect example of having in-game mechanics explained in a format that preserves the exploration and self-learning of skills and mechanics.
And your reward as a new player for exploring all those planets? A wide variety of 300 gear, forcing you to skip it all and play renegades with no understanding of the story.
Of course there're things to explore if you're new, but that contradicts the external guide.
Regardless, my original point is that the guide should be in-game as new players will never find the external guide as a resource, the existence of a guide implies new players are unable to thrive by simply playing the game, and lastly the guide will likely be outdated similar to the previous new player guide that I'm sure you nor anyone else is actually aware of existing.
this is laughably bad writing. How did destiny, with miles of deep and well written lore end up with this as the new player guide?
is my guardian 3 different things? a guardian, lightbearer, and a risen? is this distinction relevant to a new player?
is it ghost who are either human, awoken, or exo?
changing from referring to the player AS the guardian and then as a player who is in control of the guardian within the first few sentences.
take this down, this is an embarrassment. edit: bungie should take this down from the website, not the OP.
I was bored and morbidly fascinated with the writing skill on display here so I rewrote the intro for you, trying to keep the info and tone mostly the same.
You are a risen: an individual resurrected by a powerful paracausal force known as the traveler. Each risen starts their new life with no memory of who they were before, and no understanding of why they exist now.
Luckily, every risen is bonded to a Ghost: a sapient creation of the traveler, created with the express purpose of resurrecting YOU, guiding you into your new life, and aiding you in developing your new powers!
Those powers - “the light,” and “the darkness” - are paracausal forces that are not fully understood. The light was a gift from the traveler and is channeled through your Ghost, but the darkness is… something else.
Many risen, you included, choose to protect the last remnants of humanity from the forces of darkness and be dubbed a “Guardian”. Although all Guardians start their new lives the same, you will define how you look, fight, and channel your powers!
Guardians learn to wield their powers through a system of classes and subclasses. each guardian first choses from one of three classes: a space wizard known as a warlock, a bulwark known as a titan, or a deft loner known as a hunter. Each class has unique benefits, abilities, and gear that will change the way they tackle the fight. More importantly, they all have their own looks, with their own fashion!
Once you choose what class you wish to be, o guardian mine, then you can focus on training your subclasses. Each Guardian has access 6 subclasses that define how they will specialize their powers.

I don't think they did for this. AI is generally better about basic grammar.

yuck
everyone is using AI for everything in business.
This is absolutely not true lol

I said nothing about tiered anything.

Used to be true in the first game at least.
nah man, I think new players should create a new post every hour on this sub

Nope. Or even throw “new player” into the search bar here
they are looking for attention, not information. people looking for information use Google or YouTube.
There needs to be some sort of new player guide/encyclopedia in game.
but does it address ”is it worth it?”
Would be awesome if they implemented this into the game. A tutorial mode would be cool too
