It would be fair to do so because it's about the same design language. Except one is a much better vehicle. Aside from the camper van, I could see a flatbed version working really well.
Not sure about a regular van though as the sloped sides most likely reduce inside space by quite a bit.
In any case, a better product than the Cybertruck.
Apparently I was a 90s kid not an 80s kid because I have never heard of MASK before this thread. And I thought I knew all the 80s toys because of older sibling and cousin hand me downs.
Dinoriders sounds only vaguely familiar... Never heard of Starcom. I'm realizing I probably saw and played with these toys, but never saw the ads on TV so had no idea what they were called or what the story was.
I knew GI Joe and Transformers, but they were marketed into the 90s.
I feel like people our age were some of the luckiest. We had such good media and also got to see the world go from analog to digital. We spent enough time in the analog world to appreciate it, but not so much that the digital world was some foreign and mysterious thing like for out parents, well, at least my parents.
They were famous for having asbestos. Been around for a while. In fact, they say they even used asbestos into the 80's as builders were getting rid of their stockpile.
Looks like a few survived til now but being all fiberglass they definitely weren't very durable. The DIY aspect sounds cool until you have to know how to do everything yourself and theres zero warranty
I highly recommend watching the film, "SuperVan" from that same era. No, wait. It was really bad. But I had the Matchbox version of it so I had to bring it up.
These should come back. There’s something really cool about them.
It's that retro-futuristic aesthetic that it does it for me
Drafted angles with sharp edges make me hard. My wife's lingerie fits like Laura Croft.
Its a lot of vehicle for what's essentially a roof top tent in back. These days people will just buy an off road trailer.
But just as a regular truck/van shell? Hell yeah.
I think this is my first time seeing one and now I need it.
People will call it the CyberVan.

This is something close with fold down sides. https://far-outcamping.com
So those beds are 5'6" long? Notice they don't have any photos of people actually using the beds.
There’s something really cool about them.
Image search Syd Mead.
Looks like straight from an 80s toyline like MASK or similar
Apparently I was a 90s kid not an 80s kid because I have never heard of MASK before this thread. And I thought I knew all the 80s toys because of older sibling and cousin hand me downs.
Lets further check your 80s toy knowledge. How about Starcom? Or dinoriders? I played with those with the MASK toys.
Starcom were super rad!
I trust Zoids features in that list
The bronto was like the coolest thing ever. I had maybe one toy, but I would ooze over that thing when I went to the toy stores.
Your description of how I, too, would act in toy stores (but for Transformers, GI Joe, and Action Force) is weird but simultaneously so accurate!
Dinoriders sounds only vaguely familiar... Never heard of Starcom. I'm realizing I probably saw and played with these toys, but never saw the ads on TV so had no idea what they were called or what the story was.
I knew GI Joe and Transformers, but they were marketed into the 90s.
Bionic Six is typically the one I throw out when trying to stump other 80s kids.
I dont think I ever watched that, never mind had the toys. You got me there.
How about Captain Power?
Loved captain power. I think I had the laser tag kit. Also loved Captain N!
I'm 45, so born in 1980, and so I was like absolute prime age for 80s cartoons.
46 here. Captin power was a hard ass show. Like terminator after the humans lost the war.

Yes. We are able to see it all go down. Quite an awesome time indeed
They were working overtime, fighting crime M.A.S.K.
Big Jason of Star Command vibes.
This couldn’t be more 70s. Please tell me it has shag carpet inside.
Easy custom addition... After the lava lamp.
popcorn ceiling?
I didn't experience popcorn ceilings until the 80s... But those 70s color schemes are unmistakable.

Niiiice.
And a waterbed.
Damn, it wasn't an RV you could buy but build by yourself. It is based on a Volkswagen T2 and instructions where available how to convert it.
Phoenix Van - VW T2 Oldtimer
Yep, literally a kit car.
Looks like a few survived til now but being all fiberglass they definitely weren't very durable. The DIY aspect sounds cool until you have to know how to do everything yourself and theres zero warranty
Simple solution: give yourself a warranty. It's DIY all the way down!
"I declare... a WARRANTY!"
See? It's just that easy!
The dream car I didn’t know I wanted until now. So fuckin cool
Looks like a scaled up MASK toy vehicle.
YES! It totally does!
This feels like a Logan’s Run episode car.
Do any of them exist still? I haven’t seen this before
Great idea.
Looks like something The Bannana Splits would drive around..
u/Doug-DeMuro please find one of these to review 🤌🏻
Looks like a matchbox car
Or a Barbie camper
That would be sick to have. Looks expensive to upkeep.
Condorman’s recreational vehicle.
I highly recommend watching the film, "SuperVan" from that same era. No, wait. It was really bad. But I had the Matchbox version of it so I had to bring it up.
Needs a jonnycab driver
The stylistic design of the fire trucks in Rescue Heroes suddenly makes a lot more sense.
Capitalism ruins everything. I loved that retrofuture design so much.
The front of the car resembles the back of a Gremlin.
You mean cars could be looking like THIS instead of poorly peeled silver potatoes?
Pontiac Aztec, meet your grandfather.
Reminds me of STRAX cars.
I think these were used in the Flight of the Navigator movie
I really want this
I have a matchbox of this
That's awesome!
I want one...
Looks like a defense mechanism. Alarmed from a human approaching so closely.
This is fucking awesome! I would love to camp with this. It'd be so fun to drive across country.
BAM!!!!
Wheres the autobot icon?
Too bad Pontiac never saw this when designing the Aztek.
That "phoenix" logo is very unfortunate lol
Would be nice to fart inside one !
